Hi all,

Time to share with you my latest projects; a 1665 DRSD tropical and a 5513 maxi-dial, the list with specs:

The 1665 DRSD I got originally from Valty:

After that I made the following mods;

- Re-shaped the cg’s

- Got a 1665 DRSD Tropical dial from Minh (had the lume changed to white)

- Colored the lume markers to a nice light cream

- Re-painted the hands to match the new dial

- Changed the datewheel to one with flat 3’s

- Drilled out a OEM Luminova pearl and refilled it with a tritium non glowing color

- Changed the insert for a gen fat font faded insert

In the proces I also learned how to fix the keyless issue

put everything back together and below are the results :)

The 5513 was originally bought from nakortheblue, a great member over at W-C, the specs were the following:

MBW Base Watch

Shaved CGs

Drilled Lugs

Hands re-lumed by the Ziggmeister

OEM Insert and Luminova Pearl

OEM Triplock Crown

OEM Luminova Glossy Service Dial with white gold surrounds

OEM T19 Plexi Crystal

OEM 93150 Bracelet

OEM 580 Endlinks

NOS ETA2846 21.6k movement

This was already a pretty good watch by itself but I made some changes;

- Re-shaped the cg’s

- Changed the Plexi for a Superdome (BC)

- Got a 5513 Maxi-Dial from Minh (had the lume change to white)

- Colored the lume markers to a nice dark tritium like color

- Installed Clark Hands (backed them and also re-painted them)

- Installed a Gen Fat Font insert (have to add the pearl)

Enough talk; onto the pics:

Thanks to RWG for it's knowledge (I really needed sneeds tutorial on how to fix the keyless :) otherwise I would have had a big problem..) and all members for their constant contribution!

Cheers!

Maybe my eyes are tricking me, but is the DR dial brownish? I can't make it out from the pics.

A nice detail, he used the Mk II coronet on the dial, and Mk IIs are usually the ones that go tropical. :tu:

It's indeed a darkbrown color :) The Mk II is in my opinion the best DRSD they offer; it's a spectacular dial and I'm really pleased with it (and Minh's service was great as well!)

quick update:

- I repainted the markers on the 5513; they were too dark to my taste so I made them slightly less dark and more cream (cafe late sort of :))

- I also added the (yuki) pearl

- I dipped the insert twice into bleach (for a very short amount of time), just enough to remove the shiny laquer and after that I polished it twice with a cape cloth; I didn't want to bleach the insert, I just wanted to make it more matt black and after the polish the inside areas of the insert remain beautifully matt were the border is a bit more shiny; just marvelous :) I think it looks very age-appropriate; well taken care of but still vintage piece with character :)

me happy :)

on to the crappy pics :

I replaced the datewheel with one that came with a MBW SRSD that I bought for parts. I'm not sure if it came with it originally or if the former owner replaced it but the font alligned better with the datewindow of the dial from Minh and I liked the flat 3 more then the round 3 that came with the DRSD.
