lionsandtigers
Lost his way and lost his mind with this near 400k purchase today. Jesus
Cromag
Good thing he can do what he wants with his property in the US. Him deciding to buy a 400k watch is probably like average folks deciding to buy a Thomas Kinkade.
Tonyyammine
That not like him. He doesnt buy stuff like that. Why is that a 400k rolex anyway.

freddy333
I do not know if the seller purchased it from him, but I believe this is the same iced Daytona (custom made for a middle easterner) that British watch dealer, Tom Bolt, sold (at least) twice before. Bolt also appeared on a tv show 2-3 years ago where high end buyers attempted to bid for this watch, unfortunately, none met Bolt's minimum & he left with the watch in hand. I am sure Mayer is aware how ugly the watch is, but, as is the case with many uber wealthy collectors, he knows that any Rolex that was made in small batches is unlikely to be a bad investment & is therefore worth whatever it costs to possess it. Tonyyammine
Ok here it is. He paid this price because of charity. Of all the watches there this is a weird one for a celebrated rolex guy. http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/watches/rolex-an-extremely-rare-and-very-attractive-5731701-details.aspx?from=salesummary&intObjectID=5731701&sid=cd870ee9-3813-4e10-8312-16b57a4ea41c

ubiquitous
As much as I love the Daytona... I'm not a big fan of manual wind movements with screw down crowns. Which is why I no longer own any
PeteM
It certainly is a wristy with a difference However it is a bit understated for a £400K watch....
ianmac
It will make a great investment either way and that was likely a motivating factor. It is a rare watch.....just not his usual good taste.
