Stephane
Dear All, I received this in the mail today. It's a gift from a long term member of our community. I will not disclose his name here but I'm very impressed by the gesture. And I must say for a non Cosmograph owner it's very nice to wear it. Now the thing is I wonder what this example is. It looks like one of my previous ones (6263 Panda) that came from DW. Can you guys help me to identify my new beauty? Cheers Stephane
lhooq
It is, in fact, a DW 6263, albino dial, running an Asian 7750. For several months, I had one that belonged to alligoat--in a futile attempt to get the movement serviced cheaply. It's a real beauty, so congratulations! And big thumbs up to your anonymous benefactor.

I will have to think hard about his next Xmas gift ;-)

Stephane
Haha, just read an article. Quite interesting : I can say that I bought it from Eric Clapton "Clapton bought this watch in the late 1990s. It was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York sale of June 5, 2003, where it broke the previous world record for a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona by selling for $505,000 (five times its pre-auction estimate). Its pre-auction estimate for May is 500,000 to 1,000,000 Swiss francs. I am personally quite confident it will break the one million Swiss franc mark." That said, with only 4 examples and the sky rocket prices, I doubt anyone would believe me ;-) And my hands are black!

Stephane
My god, now I'm totally confused. This thing doesn't carry an A7750 at all. As it stopped I decide to check it No rotor... What do you think guys? Which movement is in there? And why is the case back stamped with 6265 ?
adamo99
Why don't you just ask whoever sent it to you?
Stephane
Why don't you just ask whoever sent it to you? Because this veryyyyyyy looong term member isn't really aware of what he owns anymore. For years he didn't really had the possibility to follow up on each and every piece they store in their safe. And, oh yes, I asked him ... He doesn't remember Maybe that is why I share it with the community

gplracer
Looks awful similar to an eta 7750.
Stephane
Looks awful similar to an eta 7750. Yup. But I'm really confused about that. I didn't know it would fit asymmetric pushers. Or maybe they can be modified? Again, not an expert of course.
Chuck P
I have a DW 6238 with a7750. Asymmetrical pushers.
P4GTR
It's a 7750 sans oscillating weight. Most likely you can see the little arm attached to the pusher which allows it to seem offset. Notice the way the case is a little different shape for each pusher?

tomhorn
Spin used to remove the rotor and remove the auto-winding gears. Maybe it's one of his builds?
danielv2000
Very nice watch and amazing gesture! RWG has come through for me on a few ocassions!
Stephane
Yes, I did some more digging and it's probably an Asian 7750 modified indeed. Anyway, it's cool watch for sure All it needs now is a nice SS correct bracelet!
gplracer
A folded link bracelet would be perfect for this.
