What Was The First Car You Owned?

Recommended Posts

My wife and I were reminiscing this evening about our teenage years [decades ago]... <_<

We purchased our son his first car in 2002 for his 16th birthday...

It was a 2000 Toyota Corolla...

He was pretty stoked...

Not too sporty in the least, but a nice ride for a first...

Got me thinking about my first...

Ready for this?

My first was a 1972 Ford Pinto...

Powder Blue...

I called it "My Ego Suppression Unit"...

The below picture is not my actual car, but mine was damn close...

Ahhh, sweet years gone bye...

Great idea for a thread! :)

My first driver was an inherited White '79 Ford Taunus, with bright red velour interior and a black vinyl roof.

My mates called it "The Persian Whorehouse". ..good memories ;)

The first car I owned myself was a 1983 SAAB 900 Turbo Lux-edition.

My very car was the most expensive SAAB ever sold up until 1984.

A bigshot in my town was the one who ordered it, and before he could drive it, it was stolen for a joyride by the town drunk. :)

It had every option you could get. Some of them:

-Scottish Leather seats

-AC (aftermarket) AND sunroof, power everything

-Rack Clarion stereo, 6 units! Filled the lower part of the console. (I still have this)

-and best of all, a mobile phone! (which of course was outdated by the time I bought it.)

It was a fun and fast car, with the famous swedish "ketchup"-Turbo that smacked you when you least expected it, you could adjust turbo pressure with a wrench yourself, and needless to say, I kept the boost in the red area. ;) A real BMW-killer in its day. I still regret selling it in parts, as I would now have restored it and kept it around. I think it was a limited run of 1200 cars or so in '83 and '84.

1968 Firebird. 400 CI 4 speed.

My dad was always into the muscle cars and I have owned several of the classics. 69 Camero, 65 Mustang, 50 Chevy Pickup 5 window with a Vortec 350.

Sad to say that they have all been sold :-(

My first car was Ford Capri 3.0S (model 1980) with Recaro interior (original). Yeah, a wannabe poor man's sports car but I loved it when I was 18.

Now I drive a Audi A6... but my dream car is the original Audi Sports Quattro. I wouldn't mind a BMW 850i, either. Those can be found for reasonable prices. But then again, I'm not a huge "car person" anymore.

My first car was a 1977 Chevy Malibu. I bought it from my mothers co-worker for $900.00. The catch was, I had to pay off the loan and the insurance coverage before the start of my senior year. So I worked two jobs that summer to pay both off. I was making $3.35 and hour, so paying off a $1000.00 loan and the insurance coverage for the year was no easy task!

My daughter just turned 16 and got her first 'car' this past November.

Man does time fly!

Check out the caption on the heading of this picture. "Mid-Size"?? Boy have times changed! That car was a tank!

My very first car was a blue 1985 Nissan pulsar. I only had the car for two weeks and the engine blew. What a bummer. After that I got a white 1989 Ford escort GT. I had fun with the 5 speed. Went through three clutches, four alternators and a bunch of other things that went wrong with that car. What a piece of crap. I did manage to squeeze $4,000 worth of stereo equipment in the hatch back. You could hear me coming from half a mile away!!!
