Quarks Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 (edited) If you have a choice to own either one of these PAMs, which would you choose? Personally, I love them both just as much and basically sitting on the fence trying to choose one over the other. The PAM 187 & 202 looks sturdy & masculine. Both are badass watches in their own right. Comparing the both, 202's bezel has a cleaner and less clustered look and maintains the historic submersible design, while the 187 bezel markers has a more 'in-your-face' persona. The 202 has no date function while the 187 has. If I am not wrong, the 202 is part Ti/ part SS hence weighing less than the 187. ...and other subtle design differences like thicker 12 o'clock marker & two dot illume above 12 o'clock marker on 202. So what is your choice? PAM 187 PAM 202 - Slytech Edited April 20, 2006 by Quarks
jimmytim Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I will take the PAM 187 because I don't like slytech
ubiquitous Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Ditto on that. 'Slytech' just seems cheesy to me. Always has...
dadog13 Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 i like them both..maybe the 202 a little bit more!
Chronus Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 At the moment 187 with ETA 7753 would do me I like that the 187 stands out
exper Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 187 here too, if you are considering getting a real 187 though Ill take the rep off you Personally the bezel on the 202 reminds of the 29 which does not really float my boat
HighDef Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 187. I'll have to strap it arrround my neck to look decent. This is way too big for my puny wrist, but I still like to get one just to have one. This is how I like this model.
Dario33 Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I'm more a fan of the 187. Prefer the bezel on this one.
Watchmeister Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I assume you are talking about gens... Do you really want to walk around with "Rocky's" name on a $10,000 watch? "Yoh Adrian!!!" . Go out and buy new Ferrari PAM if you want another name on your watch. 187 or 194! But I do get your point on the 187. I am staring at your pic of the gen with the rep on my wrist and it is pretty amazing. If they ever make a 7753 version there is no point in buying gen. On this one the case, crown, cg, etc. is truly CNC'ed.
tech Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 I love 'em both...that 187 is gonna snag all the lint on those cashmere sweaters...whateva cheers

Chronus Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Finepics, I think I am coming around to your way of thinking.... PAM001, PAM192, PAM196, PAM029, PAM063, PAM127, PAM036... and now after kinda scoffing at you when you said you were loved the PAM212 you have, I am now thinking of getting this too! Paneritis ahoy! I am thinking of the Asian 7750 version as the back is more true to the genuine though if you convince me on an ETA 7750... Anyway back to the thread, I hope to get a PAM187 as well someday... if they ever release it with ETA 7753 and at a decent price... say the price of the ETA 7753 PAM188/196s
luminor Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 202 for me! love the bezel and the look and feel of titanium. missing date is no problem but i could do without the slytech on the dial and especially sly's signature on the caseback.
Cucumber_Jones Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 I would get the 202 and then I would get the Eye of the Tiger song on CD and crank it eveywhere I go - just like I am rocky! Actualy - It is tough I like em both.
mossanti Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 i WILL TAKE THEM BOTH...i like them..but both are very expensive...even for repps..
Antrax Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 I will take the 187. It's big, bold and different.
Wolf Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 187 simply because I like the bezel so much more than the 202's.
porschespeedster Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 like looking at some nice Borrelli or Barba or Turnbull shirts- in a size way the eff too big for me. If i wasn't 6'1 154lbs i'd pick the first one. until then i'll wear a 44mm PAM, Radiomir PAM, JLC, and Sub.
dadog13 Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 i am the only one that prefers the 202... i have the slytech white face...so his bigger brother would be a nice addition to the family... that it isn't reped...YET!
Quarks Posted April 21, 2006 Author Report Posted April 21, 2006 Wow.... seems like 187 is the winner. Is it because of Stallone's signature that puts the majority off? Personally I could care less about his name on the 202. I think the design is sleek and shows the attitude of a bigger badder version of the traditional submersibles. Finepics: Please don't hate me... I have enough hatred for myself... someone please blow me up
V Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 187 because I like my watch to have Date function.
