RubberDucky Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 I love it. A classic understated watch.
yellomen Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 And when the makers dicide to rep this fine and elegant watch... please immediately make a decent rep of the Rolex Explorer I as well, while you're at it
ryaku Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 I want it. I even like better than the 3717 i already own.
k2222 Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 maybe it is naive, but if we show big interest at this one ,makers will start to think about that too?
cronsell Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 C'mon guys, let's make some noise! MARK XVI! MARK XVI! MARK XVI!
k2222 Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 i just emailed Angus about that one
Suchecracks Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 I am actually very closed before buying the genuine one! One of my colleagues has a gen one and I borrowed it for a while: Its the best dress-sports-always-on-watch there is! If its ever been repped, I would very much like to get a rep first for a "long-time-trial".
gianton Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Great! Keep us informed. i just emailed Angus about that one
eunomians Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 i just emailed Angus about that one Great idea, thought about it myself. I hope Angus has some empathy for us! Cheers
dudeman Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 just to say i would def buy one too! (if its accurate...) surely they make one....maybe its just a case of a collector sourcing it?!
yellomen Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 I'd love one of these... so please keep us informed Karup
k2222 Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 I'd love one of these... so please keep us informed Karup Who is Karup????? I'm Jakub or kuba Ok time to wake up everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need all infos needed about this watch:size, shape, pics etc!!! There is a chance, so go to work and post all info here, please avoid huge pics. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
yellomen Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Who is Karup????? I'm Jakub or kuba Oops... big bad typo Ok time to wake up everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need all infos needed about this watch:size, shape, pics etc!!! There is a chance, so go to work and post all info here, please avoid huge pics. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! So you're saying they are going to build something on data they want from us? I thought the new way of building a replica was to buy a genuine one and copy it. Anyways... it's simple... go to www.iwc.ch and this is what you find: - Inner case: soft iron for protection against magnetic fields - Glass: sapphire, convex, antireflective, resistant against pressure drop - Crown: screwed - Water-resistant: 6 bar (60 m) - Case diameter: 39 mm - Case height: 11.5 mm - Weight: - Pilot's Watch Mark XVI in stainless steel with crocodile leather strap: 68 g - Pilot's Watch Mark XVI in stainless steel with stainless steel bracelet: 122 g And two beautifull pictures The genuine will probably run on a ETA 2892-2 that is improved by IWC. So if they replicate this one they could use a chinese copy of the 2892.
k2222 Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 They need infos before, probably they want to check how many people are interested in this one. I talked to Angus and he is interested in this project.
Stephane Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 MARK XV was worn by Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky:))) Bad thing and by Harrison Ford in Firewall Great thing I agree with Jarub, ooppss,,, soryy Jakub (Good job Yello ) This watch should be reped. Now, the problem with makers is that 95% of their business is probably made outside our forums. And what are people looking at outside? Not such a beauty, too classic, not noticable on the wrist as a "top" watch. I would buy one right away if a rep was made. @Jakub: I am not a specialist of IWC at all but I'm pretty sure some other member could give a lot of details about this watch. As one said: let's make some noise. I WANT ONE - I WANT ONE - I WANT ONE - I WANT ONE
k2222 Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 Thx!!! btw Jarub sounds good too:)))
Seadweller4000 Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Problem I see is that the eta 2824 is too thick. The genuine Mark XVI uses an eta 2892 A2, that is why it is only 11,5mm thick. The lugsize is 20mm.
k2222 Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 yeah that's first problem, any other options?
piratedzeus Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 But don't we have the VC overseas (9,5mm)?
Seadweller4000 Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Easiest option would be to make the case a few milimeters thicker. I don't know if there is a reliable asian movement with a similar thickness to the eta 2892 A2? Best option would be of course to put the gen item in, but very expensive and hard to source... I would be happy with a casekit without movement. That means correct case, crystal, dial and hands for eta 2892. I would take care of the 2892 A2 myself, then.
HauteHippie Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Problem I see is that the eta 2824 is too thick. The genuine Mark XVI uses an eta 2892 A2, that is why it is only 11,5mm thick. The lugsize is 20mm. Yea. I think if this project done at all, it should be done correctly with a 2892A2 as the engine. Or an alternative would be the Selita SW 300. But if it can't be 1:1, I would say don't bother.
