Bibbs Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I've been looking at all the wrist shots and I've been wondering, Am I the only one who wears my watch on the inside of my wrist? A pic of my cheap Storm daily beater.
Toadtorrent Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I've been looking at all the wrist shots and I've been wondering, Am I the only one who wears my watch on the inside of my wrist? Yes you are...shame shame shame!! How dare you scratch your crystal and hide the beautiful dials of your watches.
iflylow78 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 personally never understood why people do that. nothing wrong with it though
Bibbs Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 I started doing it when shooting. From a prone position, holding a rifle, you can't see the dial face with it the "proper" way round. Wearing it this way means that you can see the time easily without having to put the rifle down. It's just been normal for me since.
cdv Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Not my style, but my father has worn his Mickey Mouse watch that way for as long as I can remember. He swears it takes less work to see the time that way. Whatever floats your boat.
jot9011 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Kinda defeats the purpose of wearing a piece of jewlery
dluddy Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Had an uncle who wore it this way and I never understood it I was always told it was to protect the crystal - another thing I never understood? Besides, you look like a dork, no matter what anyone tells you
Velasco Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Well... one of my grandfathers used to wear it that way, so I'm quite familiar with it. The story is... he was a truck driver during the war, and that's the way he could easily check the hour without letting go of the steering wheel. (Notice that trucks from the 30's where not so "human friendly" as they are nowadays... ) So maybe you're the only one alive... just kidding.
ubiquitous Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I see some folks wearing their watches like this on occassion- Usually the older 60+ generation. I've also seen those same individuals wearing their watches half way up their arm as well (bewteen their wrist and their elbow). For the younger folks- If they even have a watch, it's usually dial side up on the wrist. I do notice that many seem to forego the wristwatch altogether and tend to rely more on their cellulars these days...
dmastah12 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 As long as you dont wear it around your ankles, you cool :)
takashi Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 My mum wears it that way too. She said it's easier to see the time (I don't know why).
highoeyazmuhudee Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 it's a VERY Asian thing to do. and its more susceptible to dents and dings! oh well to each their own...enjoy!
b16a2 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I do see a few people wear their watches in this manner, but I don't find it comfortable. Also, the equation of Breitling + unorthodox wearing style + desk = badly damaged AR.
DemonSlayer Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Also, the equation of Breitling + unorthodox wearing style + desk = badly damaged AR. Someone should have told Bruce Willis that
Katerchen Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Someone should have told Bruce Willis that conclusions anyone?? so f_uck bruce willis and the watch he rode on lol george
Antonio Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I have a friend who wears his that way. He bumps his wrist into things all the time while walking, and his watch has a non-sapphire crystal. I've put my watches on girls' ankles for photos, just to do something different. Posted a few here a while back. I'm surprised nobody here has made a custom band with another watch on it on the opposite side, so it's possible to wear two watches (e.g. your Fiddy and franken-Daytona) at the same time.
Bibbs Posted October 18, 2008 Author Report Posted October 18, 2008 I'm really after a Breitling with the 2nd face on the strap .. but that means I'll never see the 2nd face, or it'd be upsidedown.
TeeJay Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 When I was younger, (about 10-11) I did briefly wear my Casio on the inside if my wrist. It's not something I did for long, and to be honest, didn't really find it any quicker or easier to view my watch, (I only tried it as a friend did, and said it was quicker) but, given the examples folks have mentioned (ie shooting or driving) I can certainly see how it would be a practical way of wearing a watch in certain situations and circumstances
McRae Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I always thought that wearing the dial on the inside of the wrist was a subtle way for gay people to identify each other. Seriously, I didn't know straight people did that. BWAHAHAHA!!! Since all the special forces guys that I know, wear it exactly like that, I though it very funny... :D :D (they're a little sensitive about their manhood generally... ) PS. Their stated reason is that it's both easier to read when holding a rifle and to shield the glow from the tritium vials from the bad guys, most wear Trasers and similar.
StormTooper4 Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 Dude given that its some "whatever'" Storm watch I'd be wanting to hide it to, so it's best left that way round. But my thoughts are that only wierdo's do that stuff, but if they have a rifle then I aint gonna argue ST4
retep Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 I've also seen those same individuals wearing their watches half way up their arm as well (bewteen their wrist and their elbow). Gynecologists?
