Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Just noticed this over on perfect clones: http://www.jpc8118.com/0520b-p-5866.html New version: Old version: Very cool, they have created/modified a new A7750 based movement? This could provide for a pre-2000 Daytona maybe? I wonder if it is reliable? Cheers!
dadog13 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) I just came across a Omega PO Chrono at J's site...do you see any improvements over the old one? I am not an expert but it seems that the subdial spacing is fixed on this one... Edited March 16, 2009 by dadog13
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah I posted a thread about it already, here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Planet-Ocean-chr...aph-t94045.html
dadog13 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah I posted a thread about it already, here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Planet-Ocean-chr...aph-t94045.html I missed it since it is in General Discussion and not under the "omega" area...I hope some of the mods fix this cause we definitely don't need multiple threads on the same topic

Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Yeah I put it there due to the new movement, discussions about a pre-2000 Daytona might start up
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Do you think they fixed it or just make two of the sub dials bigger? 100% fixed positions, not just enlarged subdials, you can tell, just compare the pictures!
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 I hope the A7750 modification is reliable, after all this can be used for a pre-2000 Daytona! The chances of a reliable modern Daytona just took a huge step forward. All we need is a movement review
By-Tor Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 This is definitely interesting. I wonder how that tighter spacing has been possible to achieve... It's not just Daytona that can benefit from this... but also the whole Omega Speedmaster lineup.
mjmurphy926 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Can't wait til The Zigmeister get's his hands on one of these movements!!
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Reliable..? Chronograph..? Ha! Er, yeah, whatever, great contribution All my chronographs work fine, don't know what you do to yours
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 This is definitely interesting. I wonder how that tighter spacing has been possible to achieve... It's not just Daytona that can benefit from this... but also the whole Omega Speedmaster lineup. I know, it has opened up a whole new range of watches! I have my fingers crossed for a Daytona, in case you didn't guess
MasterOfPuppets Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 looks very good, but i dont get it, since they could change the dial and fix the subdials, why does the logo still have clown feet?!
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 looks very good, but i dont get it, since they could change the dial and fix the subdials, why does the logo still have clown feet?! Standard rep parts from the big ol' rep bin
b16a2 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 This and the America's Cup would be pretty much spot on with the fixed sub dial position. If the movement is good, then this is a great development!
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Could be a whole new range of accurate chronographs from this it seems, best to get the ones without the date though, as it will be sunk again.....
PaulVanDyk Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 I know, it has opened up a whole new range of watches! I have my fingers crossed for a Daytona, in case you didn't guess im with you when it comes to Daytona. Was going to order one....but i guess i can wait a little while and see the review of the movement.
Fireman_Fred Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Looking at the photos of "new" and "old" versions, it looks as though the date font and window have been improved as well.
Fireman_Fred Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Could be a whole new range of accurate chronographs from this it seems, best to get the ones without the date though, as it will be sunk again..... Oh, that's NOT an improvement ....
Mickey Padge Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 Oh, that's NOT an improvement .... It is a shame, but there is no way around that physical restriction, good thing the Daytona has no date!
mjmurphy926 Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 The only reason I've resisted buying a moon watch rep is the bad subdial spacing. A moon watch with this movement would obviously need a solid case back, but maybe another good candidate.
Mickey Padge Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Listed at $298, so not bad price wise, double AR too
krpster Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Nice find Mickey! I've been waiting for this. I wonder if they have spent a bit more effort on QC while they were preparing for this modification.
Mickey Padge Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 I would wait for a movement review before buying one, hopefully it will be jeweled where needed. I will be interested to see how they managed to move the subdials such a small way across the dial....
