Ev_ Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 (edited) Hi everyone. Well, I recently bought my first rep, a hand-wind Speedmaster Pro Edited May 17, 2008 by Ev_
Greystash Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 (edited) This will be invaluable to those like me, that are enamored by the Speedy's. Thanks very much Ev_; Great Contribution. Edited March 21, 2008 by Greystash
dluddy Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Excellent guide. Thanks for the contribution
By-Tor Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Very nice guide, thanks a lot man. I linked this article to the Omega Guide.
capice Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Great info, I just ordered a moonwatch last week, thanks for sharing
abat Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Good stuff. The biggest tell on the 50th anniversary rep is the display back from the sandwich - the gen patch has a solid back.
Flashman Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 WOW, great review!!!! I have been searching all over the place trying to find a good Moon Watch to replace the gen reduced version I have, and with everyone offering slightly different varients it gets confusing, especially since some collectors are saying it is not being made anymore. A lot of the full size moon watches seem to be based on the reduced version (only bigger) which does not have the little accent line above the E on TACHYMETRE and also has the sub dials pushed out to the edges of the watch resulting in pinched 12,3,6 and 9 markers. A note to anyone getting a gen Omega reduced speedmaster, 'don't bother' although it is a nice watch, the clasp does not lock closed like the larger version, it does not have a screw down crown (it sometimes pops out with general wear and I have broken the crown off without noticing) and their customer service is slack and all carried out by Swatch. For my poor experience with them as a brand, I will now get reps instead. Unless a bargain gen crops up! This has saved me a lot of time and effort. Thanks again! I have just emailed Ruby for pricing options. Have a great Easter! Tom
Toadtorrent Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Hey...nice review...and pretty amazing 2nd post! Well done.
jkspepper Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 They guide was helpful, thanks. But will there ever be a rep that fixes the most glaring mistake/tell.. namely where the sub-dials are. I can't bring myself to even contemplate getting one until that is fixed personally.
Slartibartfast Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Just a simply brilliant review. An invaluable reference. Thanks!
mastergod Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) A lot of the full size moon watches seem to be based on the reduced version (...) the sub dials pushed out to the edges of the watch resulting in pinched 12,3,6 and 9 markers. It seems the pinched markers (disregarding running dial at 6-o-clock as it can be stopped) is the most easily detectable - and most embarrassing - flaw, then. Which leads to my question whether a gen dial will fit Ruby's version. Anybody know? Thanks for the guide! Edited March 23, 2008 by mastergod
Pugwash Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 But will there ever be a rep that fixes the most glaring mistake/tell.. namely where the sub-dials are. Won't happen until someone finds a source of Lemania movements, or until the Chinese copy them.
Toadtorrent Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 I just re-read this...great post!!

vintagerolex Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Do you know if the Eurotimez version has the correct clasp?
