  1. Tennyson used the phrase "Nature, red in tooth and claw." I'm just back from a long walk up the mountain with my dogs. I brought the 12ga. this trip because there's a LOT of bears around. Going up the mountain I saw two wolves come out of the trees 300 yards away, and angle off across a clearing back into the woods. We kept going, and I stopped to check some bear tracks. I stood up and one of my dogs was halfway to where I'd seen the wolves; the other dog was out of sight. I shouted and whistled, and heard nothing, then off in the trees I heard her screaming and yelping. I racked a round and ran off into the woods to find her. I heard a lot of snarling and her screaming but it was moving. So I kept running trying to head off the movement. I whistled a few times and stopped on a trail I crossed to listen. She had gone quiet and I figured it was over for her. Suddenly I heard noise and whipped around, and it was her running to me. She was exhausted and trembling, but no blood. Off in the trees maybe 80-100 yards away the wolves set up a chorus of yipping, and that deep howl that they do. I kept the 12ga. level and we hiked out, arriving home 45 min ago. Now she's sleeping beside me on the floor. I better change her name to Lucky.

  2. There are sub, YM, and Exp2 reps in gen construction. There was never a GMT II 16710 in gen construction. Just when I planned to do a gen style GMT II 16710 using the noobfactory Exp2 case and wm9 bezel assembly, the noobfactory terminated production of both the GMT II and Exp2. Sneed12 had the same idea and did one with the noobfactory Exp2 I believe. With the new SL'd 40mm Exp2, it's possible to make an awesome gen style GMT II 16710 case again. It's even easier than using the noobfactory Exp2. Stick a utility razor blade between the Exp2 bezel and the case Pound on the razor blade with a mallet to open a gap The bezel comes off, usually together with the crystal and gasket. Use a crystal press to push the crystal down and off the bezel. Don't push the crystal off from below. That ruins the gasket and possibly break the little ridge on the underside of the crystal Now you have the bare case Notice gen style crystal has an interlocking ridge on the underside Here's the part why this case is easier to make a gen style GMT II case than the noobfactory Exp2 case You can just get a 2.35mm crystal gasket and install the crystal and retaining ring. The TW sub bezel assembly is perfect for this project. With a Clark bi-directional click spring, the bezel turns both directions like a GMT II bezel should Snap on a JewelryOutlet990 pepsi insert. CGs was trimmed. Voila, a gen style, high quality GMT II 16710. Perfect fit, perfect crystal height. Very easy. bk

  3. Two young guys appear in court after being arrested for smoking dope. The judge says, "You seem like nice young men, and I'd like to give you a second chance instead of jail time. I want you to go out this weekend and try to convince others of the evils of drug use. I'll see you back in court Monday." On Monday, the judge asks the first guy, "How did you do over the weekend?""Well, your honor, I persuaded 17 people to give up drugs forever." "Seventeen people? That's wonderful. How did you do it? " "I used a diagram, your honor. I drew two circles like this: O o. Then I told them that the big circle is your brain before drugs and the small circle is your brain after drugs." "That's admirable," says the judge. Then he turns to the second guy. "And how did you do?" "Well, your honor, I persuaded 156 people to give up drugs forever." "Wow!" says the judge. "156 people! How did you manage to do that?" "Well, I used a similar diagram," the guy says. "I drew two circles like this: o O. Then I pointed to the little circle and said, 'This is your a$$hole before prison . . . .

  13. Ahhhhh, pull up a chair. I researched this for a couple months. InGod dials are not bad, but the gilt text is lacking luster. I'd avoid them personally. NDT are approximately the same but the lume dots within the gilt rings are too small. Avoid. Yuki is no better than these other guys. Minh Quy makes a nice dial at the &1k price point but his quality is spotty. You don't always get a GOOD dial at that price. And he'll plead ignorance when you complain. InGod makes a pretty darn good tropical gilt dial; I have one for sale. Ivan makes the best dials, period. Cough up $1k plus apiece. These are as near to gen as it's possible to get. They fit 1030 movements. Minh Quy makes a very nice dial at around $300 and Big Dazza can age it to look very convincing. The gilt text looks pretty darn good. That's the route I took. Aged / tinted Ingod tropical: Minh Quy $300 price point, Big Dazza aged:

  14. If it is gaining a min a day I would recommend getting it checked by a watch smith as that is too much for the fine adjuster to fix, remember that you only have adjustment of +- 20 sec a day any thing more than that and you have to remove the auto wind bridge and move the main adjuster arm, and if you are having to ask about this then I assume you don't have a vibrograph to make the adjustments and check the beat by.

  15. Yuki should be around. Spoke to them 2 days ago. I would send a reminder if 6 days has passed without a reply. And regarding who has the best 6538 dial, I have heard that MQ has provided really good ones now and then. But then you would have to try your luck for premium $$.. If I am not mistaken there should be some good info regarding the topic in one of cc33's yummy 6538 threads.. On my iphone right now on the beach with mediocre 3G connection/ being too lazy to search it out for you..

  19. You are totally right : very rare. But hell, if we make our watches it's to dream... I'd rather dream big. Plus, I had it for 2 years with the smooth bezel, and it did not get much wrist time. Too flat, too small... Plain. I really re fell in love with it when I saw it with the graduated bezel! When it comes to personal taste, there is no more reasoning. It's a very personal opinion for a very personal watch. Thanks for your comments !!!

  21. I'm on my second noob 16610 they are great value just wished I had one eta rather than 21j , I have also got a WM9 16613 , and there aint much of a difference given the massive price diff $49 vs $700+ . The thing I find is that they both seem a tad smaller than the Gen , I dont know what it is but mine appear smaller. If you have the Cash go TC or BK but the alternatives aren't as shabby as some make out. I swim in mine all the time. Most people seem to think all Rollies are fakes and teh only ones who will really know are the Folks on here
