  2. Every year at this time is Fur Rondy and the Iditarod sled dog race. Lots of neat things are written about it; google up Don Bowers Iditarod Trail Notes to get a taste of what it entails. Yesterday we watched the Iditarod finish and something really neat happened. Mitch Seavey came in first, the old timer setting all kinds of records in the process. After him was a serious race between his son Dallas Seavey and the competitor Nicolas Petit from Girdwood. They pulled out of Safety, heading for Nome 16 minutes apart. The cameras were watching all the way down Front Street in Nome, and they picked out a dog team coming up off the sea ice. We couldn't see who it was until they were 500 yards out, and we saw it was Dallas. Yahoo!! He came in 2nd place, behind his dad. Then right away came bib #24, Nicolas Petit. He had made up almost 13 minutes in the 22 mile race from Safety to Nome. What a run!! So he passed under the burled arch and accepted the crowd's cheers for 3rd place. What the cameras didn't catch though, is what mattered. He quietly handed something to Dallas ... his Vet Book. In the commotion, Dallas had dropped it on the snow in Safety as he pulled out, and Nicolas grabbed it for him. The rules require the Vet Book to be in the front of the sled at every checkpoint, and without it Dallas would have been forced to scratch. Or go back and get it. By quietly handing to book to Dallas, Nicolas gave up 2nd place in the greatest race on earth. That's sportsmanship.

  5. @MaxxCain Welcome to the forum. We are not snobby about watches here, so don't take our words as an insult. If you like your current watch, there is nothing wrong with that. However if you have the desire @Legend could certainly help you find something much, much more convincing.

  6. I tread softly along the fine line separating raving insanity and lucid moments of ingenuity. The issue is I've no idea which is which mostly.

  8. Hey Woz. I sent him a message a couple of months ago with a few pics of the case. He said he hadn't done so before would be willing to set up a jig for them.

  10. It's mine!!!! I'm old, and I deserve it!! LOL . Really beautiful. When I grow up I want to have nice AP's like my friend Legend. And you are right, he finally succumbed to the siren's song of Rolex. Maybe he'll trade a gen Rolex for one of those genenstein AP's? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. Hopefully this will get sorted out to the satisfaction of all involved. What we have to remember is these dealers sell hundreds if not thousands of watches per year. Occasionally, one that is less than acceptable will get by the seller. Who knows how many folks are employed in the sellers business. Possibly a new person handled this watch, maybe the main guy Toro himself let it slip through. The real issue here, is not that a defective watch was shipped, the facts speak for themselves,in this case, but the real issue is what the seller does to rectify the situation. Sometimes to get the problem off dead center, it takes a nudge. That's what we are here for. We look at the situation, and if a nudge is needed, we are more than happy to intercede on the buyers behalf. I cannot speak for other forums, ad I am only a member there. Not a moderator. I would hope that since we are smaller, and fell that we are more of a family, we can be more proactive in helping members who have legitimate problems. An@dinosaur1, I cannot speak for the others on the mod squad here, but I believe that they all in sync with my feelings. And they are this, I don't give a good damn if someone is a mod's buddy, if you are right, you are right. If we have a problem, I look at what YOU said, and what YOU did to determine what action is appropriate. I will say that here, unless your actions are particularly egregious, you are going to get a warning, and then a time out before you get and outright ban. So enjoy your stay here, treat everyone the same as you would if you were sitting across from them in person, and you will not have any problems.

  12. In my experience, including my "poll" posts around decisions or purchases, I usually already know, but am trying to rationalize it. In a few cases, however, I am truly at an impasse. I don't find that the ceramics have any soul. They may in years down the road, but I feel more drawn to a Squale than a new Sub. 16610 and 16600 were the last of the classics in my eyes. I'm more drawn to the Tudor Heritage line than I am the new Rollies.

  14. It's not going to be easy finding a bracelet, especially a WG one- really not worth it IMO. Changing out the crown would be easier, but this is a new model and I'm not even sure which crown it takes. And again, not really worth finding a WG crown. An ss crown might be the 24-603-0 possibly and what if you had to change out the tube with it? That could be another can of worms. Enjoy your new watch and keep reading! If you were to try to mod a vintage rep, it would be easier to find parts for it.

  16. Hey gang! Exciting new update. I had a chance to strip down a JF Explorer with a 3132 and... its different! In a good way [emoji4] Several parts have been changed to eliminate the date function. It's not just a 3135 with date parts missing. They actually changed the keyless so that the crown only has 2 positions! Super cool. The distance plate for dial (3130-148), setting jumper (3130-230) and cover mechanism (3130-236) are all gen spec. The yoke itself (3130-240) is different and it uses a custom yoke for setting wheel instead of the base 3135-266 but it's a nice development. I haven't measured the seconds wheel or minute pinion but the hour wheel is different too! 3132 is on the right

  17. I always thought that the difference between Noob SA3135 (V2) and Yuki/JF was slander until I disassembled these two yesterday night. On the back they look pretty much the same. But see the hudge difference between the rest of the watch especially the adjustment construction of time and date. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

  18. Thanks opti. I think the deciding factor is that the Ceramic is 48mm vs 5004 46mm. I think 48 is going to look comically big!?
