  1. First thing I'd do if I received one of those is file a complaint against the law firm for extortion.
  2. There is only one: Rebel Yell
  3. No pics (yet), but I started the day with my gen SMP Chrono, then finished it with my 4th gen PO. I checked out a genuine PO today while wearing my SMP Chrono. Damn, the 4th gen is so sweet! So accurate.
  4. Yes, I agree with you. My point was simply in response to those who were complaining about the cost of the mods, which as was pointed out, not the point of this thread. And so, I will step aside and read with interest as this thread grows, but will stay the heck out of it.
  5. I think that anyone who buys one of these reps with the intention of spending that much money modifying it should just take the money and put it away instead. As the urge strikes again to buy another, put the money away again. Do this a couple more times, then go buy a lovely used genuine Sub. Problem solved.
  6. There is a recessed o-ring in a groove just inside the opening of the case tube, and there is also a thick, flat rubber gasket inside the crown itself that seals against the end of the tube.
  7. I promised my wife I wouldn't buy any more reps this year, so I'm picking up a gen SMP chrono from Thomasng this afternoon, and I'm waiting on a movement to complete the restoration of a gen Speedy moon.
  8. Wear the blue one well. The Zigmeister serviced it completely just before I sent it to Richard, and that wasn't very long ago!
  9. What you need to do is find another rep - an SMP or Bond that is broken. Take the guts out of the clasp and transfer all pieces except the clasp shell to your PO. Curvature may be slightly different, but a little squeeze with a couple of pieces of hardwood and some stout pliers will fix that (make sure it is assembled and all is closed before you do that). It seems the bracelet number on the clasp of the PO rep is the same as that on the old SMP (black), and perhaps others too, but the old clasps are far better quality. This is what I have done to my PO and it has been perfect ever since.
  10. Pics? I see no pics. Am I missing something here? Hmm. Must have been a bizarre Firefox thing caused by the automatic upgrade to it followed by me not restarting it. The pics are great. Thanks.
  11. The Rolex V72 movements were in fact quite modified from stock. The flush bridge screws (rather than deeply countersunk) indicate that the movement is not a Rolex 727. V72, I'm not doubting, just not a 727. FYI, I have purchased 2 "Singer" dials on Ebay. The pictures of the back of the dials are stock pictures. Neither dial is a Singer, and neither is even engraved as such. One is very good nevertheless, the other is now in the garbage. As someone already pointed out, the lume dot at 12 o-clock should be absent on the PN Daytona.
  12. Thanks for the explanation, Robbie. You may have gathered that we are a wary lot. No offence was intended I'm sure. We tend to circle the wagons at the slightest provocation. The watch is indeed exciting, but I'm sure others have noticed little things, such as improper countersinking of bridge screws, indicating the movement isn't really a 727, and a host of other issues. The quest for the perfect Daytona continues, but at least now we know we are dealing with a trusted source and the watch is what it is.
  13. I'd like to know how he lost the box and papers while moving but not the watch if it's never been worn.
  14. Remember also that it was a handwind movement. The lack of a rotor would noticably reduce the weight, as would the Hesalite (plastic) crystal.
  15. The thought just occurred to me that it may be the center part of the crown not engaging properly when it is unscrewed. If it does not extend fully, it can slip. I have a brand new Rolex crown doing that at the moment. It seems fine when removed from the watch, but it simply won't lock up to allow winding. It just slips and clicks. If you can, remove the crown from the stem and try it on another watch. It shouldn't matter what kind, as it should thread onto any stem, and you aren't going to screw it down, just try to wind with it.
  16. I have a horrible feeling we're all going to be bidding against each other on the 'bay for the next while.
  17. I've tried a couple and I like Photobucket best.
  18. Pardon me while I lock myself in the bathroom with a box of Kleenex.
  19. Nope. Unfortunately, you must talk privately to some of the people who have them to see if they might be able to obtain one for you. Even then, there are few people who know how to get hold of him, so they would perform the intermediary work for you. Good luck. I have 2 and they are simply my favorite watches in my collection (including gen Omegas). Sorry, I don't have the contact info myself.
  20. 2 letters: DW
  21. I'll take 2.
  22. I use a pinpoint oiler filled with some light machine oil and apply a bit to each pivot point. I then work it in for a while then repeat. After that, I use some liquid soap and warm water to remove the excess oil. Enough will stay in the links to make it feel much better than before but not oil up your wrist for days after.
  23. The 4th generation PO from Andrew will NOT disappoint. It is superb, heavy, and accurate! The GST Ti you mentioned from Joshua will also not disappoint. It is scary accurate in all details, even the bracelet sizing system. If these are your first 2 purchases here, you will be hard pressed to top them.
  24. Truly good news to get the definitive scoop! Mine has arrived back from whence it came, so it is being resent with the phone info added to the address. Kudos to River for very quick action!
