  1. ..Accompanied by liberal helpings of atonal dissonance.
  2. Being a jazz bassist, I would have to say that's my favorite music, but I also like electronica and funk (Bootsy!!!!).
  3. Nope. The movement should still have a serial number on it though.
  4. Service replacement cases from Omega do not have serial numbers on them. I have a couple of them.
  5. I will equip mine with a black croc strap that I can get from my local wholesale supplier for CDN$39 (if I recall the price correctly). I will post pics and if others like the strap, I can send a few out. For an idea, see my Breitling with a brown version at http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=6955 Bear in mind, the Breitling shown has 19mm lugs, so the strap is scrunched.
  6. What size is the strap at the lugs and at the buckle?
  7. I bought a genuine 7835 (folded link, as opposed to the heavy Oyster 78350) and had it restored by Michael Young. He also fabricated some 571 end links for it for a very reasonable price. A fine job, incidentally. It looks great on one of my DWs.
  8. I think I'd be interested in the panda. Does anyone know what size it is?
  9. I put a genuine PO rubber band on mine. I would be willing to sell my SS bracelet which has genuine guts from a clasp I bought for a 2254, eliminating that gap. It sits perfectly on both sides (genuine guts on extension side as well). I also have the shell for the 2254 (black Seamaster) clasp available if anyone is interested.
  10. Yorkville is where there is one of those restaurants. Yonge/Bloor area
  11. Curses. I'll be out of town starting in the morning too. For the table ballet, try the Brass Rail on Yonge just south of Bloor. The $ are not quite as high as on King St. W. or out by the airport. There's always Filmore's, but it's a shadow of its former self, but on a weekend might not be bad.
  12. I do hope you will reconsider, Admin. You would be missed.
  13. Hehe. I had a bad neck a number of years ago. One evening I was sitting in my car trying to read a map when a cop pulled up behind me and made me get out of my car. During the next few minutes of mistaken identity, he punched me in the back of the head as I was standing against the car. My neck felt instantly better and hasn't given me trouble since. He's probably still a jerk though.
  14. PM me. I have a spare black insert from a 3rd gen PO that looks identical to the 4th gen. that I can send you. I am here only occasionally (travelling) until I get back home early in the week.
  15. The button simply unscrews itself, Richard. To prevent, you need to remove the movement, then take the buttons off and use a tiny bit of blue loctite to reassemble.
  16. I had a very large parts supplier go through their pusher selection with me trying to find a match for the GST. No luck. Best bet is one of our dealers.
  17. Mmmmmm. DW PN. Among my collection consisting currently of mostly gens, my 2 DWs are still my favorites. FWIW, I have purchased a few spare movements (used) that almost all had small issues which caused the original owners to let them go. I have spent quite a bit of time taking the worst one apart and learning all I can about the movement. I have found that it is in fact quite robust, just prone to poor assembly and adjustment. I got one recently that wouldn't hold a stem and would stop when the stem was pushed in. It turned out that the hole for the stem release had not been bored deep enough, causing the plate that holds the stem not to engage its tab in the stem properly, also allowing it to interfere with the setting gear when pushed in. Drilling the hole deeper gave me a perfect-running spare. Adjustments of the chrono pieces is something I am working on learning, but from what I have seen so far, the DW movements are quite straightforward and adjust the same way as any other chrono. A little work with the finish, cleaning, oiling and adjustment will give me quite a decent watch.
  18. I think you may be right, Richard. I received a "white" dial today, and under certain lighting, it is ever so slightly silver. The difference with the inner bezel is startling when I pop the dial without the movement into the empty case. I certainly learned something today.
  19. I know where there was one for sale recently (still should be) in Canada for about $500....
  20. Should it not be an 8mm on this model?
  21. If you install something covert, how do you then confront the kid regarding his online actions without destroying any trust that may be left in the relationship? Teenagers are somewhat volatile. The idea of ACLs and the child knowing the limits at the outset and that the limits will be monitored is by far the best. Just my $.02. However, even though I'm middle-aged, I'm not yet a parent.
  22. For a young child, use Netnanny. Younger kids won't mind the restrictions, and it is a rather overt program. Older kids will resent any keylogger. If they discover its use, all trust will be lost between parent and child. Any restrictions or logging actions by parents must be known to the child and (grudgingly) accepted to be effective and successful. Snooping will be counterproductive. Tell them not to.
  23. My wife tells me that they are all addresses and as such do not translate. She also says don't bother going to any of them, as you will not find good quality reps there. You must find the 'market within the market'.
