I got in touch with Davidsen. A new dial and crystal will be shipping soon! The new crystal will be sapphire for sure! I've come to learn that if you want a Fiddy its best to buy it with the proper movement and mod it from there! Jon

I've done crystal swaps for members before. Never scratched a dial. Just irritated with this and ended up making it worse. Oh well I'm getting a decent deal on the replacement parts from Davidsen. And just to mention too, in the dealers defense! He offered to get a replacement crystal at his expense but I don't think its worth the wait for another mineral glass. Jon

Thanks, I think its a big improvement. Date mag is my only complaint. I'm sure the gen magnification would be much better. But I wasn't sure if either would even fit. I figured a $7 loss is better than a $40 loss! Now I know for future reference! Jon

Alright so I've had a bad day! If you see my other posts you'll know why! On a lighter note though this went well! I bought this 1680 sub from Paul a few weeks ago. After a mix up with shipping I got my rep, a little late but none the less it came! The biggest upset with this rep was the crystal. So I set out to get a replacement. Edge had the gens for a great price but I wasn't sure if a gen would fit since my watch was not a WM or MBW! So me being the cheap guy I sometimes tend to be I leaned towards ebay for a generic copy that still boasted the Tropic height! Well $7 (+ shipping) and a few days later and voila! Its here. So first thing this morning, it was my day off, I wipe the sleep out of my eyes and start dissassembling the watch. Sorry I didn't take pictures this time! Anyway. I removed the movt. Then put the watch on the press. Popped out the old crystal and compared the two!. Much taller and much better looking in my opinion. So I proceeded to reassemble the watch. Put the crystal in. Reinstalled the bezel. Put the movement back in and what you see is what you get! Spring bars to come next! So you win some and you lose some. Today was a bad day for my new panny but a good day for my Rollie! Cheers, JOn

OK here's a little quickie video I did. I broke the old mineral glass from an old fiddy I had to do the test. I then scratch that mineral glass with a screw driver. Then I take the scratched mineral and use it to scratch the "sapphire" crystal from the new fiddy! Its been a little while but I remember the Moh's Hardness Scale. According to that scale Sapphire will not be scratched by glass. In fact sapphire wouldn't be scratched by much of anything except diamonds. Anyways here's the test! My advice, if you're buying a fiddy go ahead and plan on buying a crystal too! Seems like they all end up coming with mineral even though they are advertised as new and improved! Yeah it just sucks that these factories keep pumping out mineral crystals and pushing them as sapphire! Oh well thankfully we have Davidsen around! Its just money right? JOn

Wow this sucks! First I notice a smudge/imperfection on the dial. So I remove the bezel. Turns out its a print in the paint! Once I figure out its something I can't fix but could live with I go to put the bezel back on. Well I accidentally slipped putting the bezel back on and scuff the dial more! OK so I need a dial from Davidsen no biggie! So now I have a project watch that I can't wear. Since I'm ordering from Davidsen anyway I decide to go ahead with the sapphire test! After all if its sapphire it won't scratch right!? Well guess what? It scratched! Then to really top it off, I'm sitting here playing Tetris with my girlfriend and we hear a pop/crack sound. I turn around and, you guessed it, the crystal was shattered in peices! Wow looks like I'll be placing an order with Davidsen soon! When its not meant to be its just not meant to be! Jon

I've already ordered the Asian version! 28800 vph sounds good to me! I've been wanting this watch for a while now and the price tag I saw was just too good to pass up! If and when a dealer releases a 7753 version at a good price I might have to jump on it but meanwhile I'll enjoy my new peice hopefully already in transit! Cheers, Jon

I have worked for both BB and CC. Unfortunately you can't always count on customer service to be up to par between the stores for a few reasons. For one, everyone gets paid by the hour. And even if you get an associate that genuinely cares in one store the ones in the other will likely not! So you end up with a tug of war and unfortunately situations like these develop. I'll tell you this. After working at both I will never buy anything at full retail ever again! You can buy the items you want online and save mucho dinero! Jon

111 is supposed to have the other swan neck movement isn't it? I mean if you check out Pam's official site it has the H series movement. If I still had my Asian fiddy I'd do it for the upgrade though. Jon
