Personally I don't see the value myself but I'm no sub connoisseur. I've got a TWG Best ETA sub from stocks a few months ago and love it. Of course I paid only about $200 for it too! CG's look pretty good, bezel click is nice, date mag looks OK, bracelet quality is there and it runs great and keeps good time. Most of the other stuff is good too. If I could ask for one imporovement it would probably be a deeper rehaut. But let me say it again I'm no sub connoisseur! I love it and my 1680 ETA I got from Paul. In my opinion every watch collector should at least own one good modern sub and one good vintage one! I wear them to work as my beater watches on a daily basis! Now on the other hand if some of the Asian 7750 reps were offered with the service work I might throw some extra money in that direction but it seems pointless to me to service an ETA movement that can be replaced completely for $40-75! I will also add that I think TWG is a good dealer so if you are considering this watch but are on the fence because you have never dealt with him then don't worry he will take care of you! He is a gentlemen both during and after your purchase! Theres my 2 cents! To each his own! Jon

Sounds like a very fair quote! I'm interested if it works out. I'm thinking about stopping by a eyeglasses place on my way to work tomorrow just to inquire! Keep us updated and please post more pics! Jon

The markers are recessed and they are probably all glued the same. The glue appears to be a high viscosity superglue or expoxy. High vicosity meaning thin and unable to bridge gaps. So if the bezel markers didn't sit 100% perfectly in their seats eventually you will see problems. Some probably sooner than others. Otherwise this is what will probably happen to the others. The first time your rep gets hot from being exposed to the sun, excercise, or whatever the glue gets loose and all it will take is for you to tap your watch across something and you'll be missing two or three! I took the advice of another forum member. I submerged (yes it is water resistant!) my watch in warm water for a few minutes. Then CAREFULLY removed all the bezel markers with some precision pliers that are not groved so not to scar. With a litte force and care you will hear them crack loose. I've since then reattached each marker with Metalset A4 Resin Epoxy (thanks RBJ)! This stuff is the stuff they patch bulletholes with on military helicopters, so yeah its tough! Its actually a two part cement epoxy tht contains aluminum as well as other materials that take well to metals. It also dries very very tough! Anyway, to each his own but I wanted to take action before I had a problem because I really love this watch! Good luck! Jon

7750 how long been in service with no problem?
Bignasty replied to david-aussie's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
He said he wants a seconds @ 9 model Daytona therefore no mods at all! As far as my opinion I like the new 7750 version but it isn't in all the current model reps! So ask your dealer if you are getting the 28,800vph model before purchase. If not I would recommend finding someone to do a full service as my record on the old Asian 7750 is 0 for 3! Good luck and good hunting! Jon -
Admin, How did you safely remove the remaining ones with out scratching them all to hell? Jon

Interested to see the outcome of this situation. It sucks because I imagine you don't realize when they are lost. If they came off in my watchbox it would be a different story! Good luck! Jon

Mine like this is being fixed by Paul. I haven't been able to wear it yet Hopefully soon it will be back! Its a beaut though! Got to work today so I'll be wearing my recently repaired TWG Best Sub! No pics yet! But much thanks Andrew for the repair! Jon

Wow this got off topic quick! How about we focus on the flaw and see if it can't be remedied! I say we rally a demand and see if Davidsen can't come up with a solution! Jon

Alright so I've been wearing my 187 everywhere but to work for the last few days. I actually think the rubber strap is very nice. Its soft and appears to be fairly accurate to the gen but its just not quite right for me! So I decided to rob my fiddy, which by the way can't be worn now anyway because of the whole mistaken identity crystal. Don't ask its a long story. Anyway I've got tons of parts on order for the Fiddy so I figure why not use the strap that awaits it and rob its 26mm buckle! Heres what you get when you stick a 26/26 Black w/ White stich Officine Firenze on a new 187! Enjoy! Jon

Davidsen Hands - Any one seen this issue?
Bignasty replied to Bignasty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
No don't worry. The capped hands will work no problems. Neither Davidsen nor I bothered to ask which movement these hands were going to be installed on! He I guess assumed they would be on an extended pinion and I assumed that he knew it would not! All is well now though. And don't fret I've got the capped hands on order for my Fiddy as well! Jon -

Thanks Finepics! A member @ RWI also said you did a hand swap for him w/ these hands and you were able to slightly bend the hands so that they could clear the second hands! I thought about this but Davidsen is being very polite and including the proper hands in my next order, which is the parts for my "Ultimate Fiddy". Hope theres no bad blood! Cheers, JOn Thanks I'll contact Eddy after sorting out the details w/ Davidsen! Jon -

Did you not read? Also had this been a complaint it would have been posted in the Dealer Review section not the Repair and Mod forum! Thanks, Jon -
Davidsen Hands - Any one seen this issue?

Just wanted to add. Got an email from Davidsen minutes ago. He's sending the replacement hands with some parts I'd already ordered for my 127! Thanks Davidsen your service is superb! Jon -
Davidsen Hands - Any one seen this issue?
Bignasty replied to Bignasty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Main reason was that my rep, from Eddie had the silver subdial (seconds). An inaccuracy I didn't catch until months after the purchase. Also the lettering on the dial was a little crooked. I caught this flaw around the same time. EL sent me a new dial with no hesitation but it was a bit thicker than the original so I decided to just order a new one from Davidsen. I also thought that the lume would be better than original on both the dial and the hands. So here is my main point, and now I feel like I'm defending myself for some odd reason but anyway. I'm not up for sending watches to have the movements serviced nor modded. I've spoken w/ The Zigmeister on numerous occasions but just take pride in doing the work myself. I would rather do simple mods myself until I get a better grasp for the more difficult ones. So I can now do hand swaps comfortably. I can swap dials no issues. I've now done a few movement swaps as well. These are things I wouldn't have attempted just a few months ago! So I'm learning, which is my main goal of hanging out here and at other forums. So right now I'm just not comfortable with movement mods and servicing! But one day I will and one day I hope to help other members in these areas! Anyway I'm done with this rant. Like I said above I'm not complaining about Davidsen. I will order more from him and quite frankly I'm very happy with the turn around time of this order as well as the communication he provided. I posted this thread merely to see if someone else had seen the same issues or to see if someone had a solution other than exchanging the product! Does that make me a bad person? Jon -
Davidsen Hands - Any one seen this issue?
Bignasty replied to Bignasty's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Yeah I thought maybe this was the issue. Hopefully he will just exchange them for me. I do not intend on swapping out the pinnion on the movement. Its a little beyond my expertise at the moment. Jon -
I got the Davidsen hand set and dial for my 111h today. They look great. He even threw in a set of 24mm strap screws for free. So needless to say I'm not bickering or complaining as I'm sure he will resolve the situation I'm about to explain. Just seeking advice from more experienced members! OK so I got the dial installed. I'm going to have to trim it because the diameter is a little larger than the OEM one. This isn't the issue. I knew this going in to the deal w/ Davidsen as he disclosed the size and I knew it would be larger than I needed. OK now that I got that off my chest here's the real issue. I went to install the hours and minutes hands. Got the minutes hand pressed and to my suprise the recessed pinion was gone? Yay good for Davidsen!?! or could this be an issue? Well the answer is yes. Since the hands have no recess pinion anymore what does this mean? Obviously I didn't change the pinion so it didn't just get taller all of a sudden. I knew right then that I would have issues with the second hand not having enough space to travel under the hours hand. So heres the issue. Photo below. It appears as though these hands would work perfectly on a PAM model without the running seconds @ 9. It would also solve the recessed pinion issue. But unfortunately it won't work for me. So check out the picture and while I'm waiting for a response from Davidsen maybe someone can offer some sound advice! Cheers, Jon

Yeah the date rides low because it sits under the transfer gears for the running minutes counter which was moved from 12 to 3. I can live wit it though! Jon
-
I suspect yours will have AR soon enough? Jon
-
It is sapphire just lacks the AR coating. I'm sure Davidsen could remedy this with the EXACT dimensions but I'm not taking mine apart to get these! Jon

Wow what a boofoostupidAmofo! These are the same types that will alert authorities when they haven't received their watch in two weeks! Like the situation we have seen w/ Luckky! Sorry to hear about this Eddie. Can you not just reject the package in some way w/ customs and do a "return to sender?" Jon

Edge, Sorry to hear about your troubles what ever they may be. Hope all is well for you soon! See you around. Jon
