Review of BREITLING Navitimer "Serie Speciale" OUTDATED MODEL!
Bignasty replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
I love mine. I've actually got an ETA 7750 in transit as we speak. I'll post pics once it has been installed! Very nice review By-tor! Jon -
I came super close to pulling the trigger on this rep, but in the ETA movement. Deal breaker for me was the chrono pushers. Just too short, or too recessed one. That and the bezel just didn't do it for me. I could have replaced the bezel with a SMP bezel, but the pushers would have bugged me to the point this watch would just sit in my box and eventually get sold. Its good that Josh is taking care of this for you. When you get a chance I would love to see some homegrown pics! Jon

I know people were paying much more for these on Ebay and over on many of the Gen forums as well. Sounds like, if it checks out, it would be a decent price, though I'd still almost rather invest $300 in a nice swan neck rep from one of our trusted dealers. $900 still seems like a lot of cash for basically a rep watch with manual wound movement. Just my 2 cents. Jon

Only issue should be whether or not the old hands will fit the new movement. As far as actually holding the movement in the case, it should mount the same as the Asian 21j. I also imagine the dial might need to be reworked a little, but these are all unknown until you have personally tried the swap. I'm guessing your referring to a R0lex rep? If so you'll also need to have the date overlay removed from the asian movement and reapplied to the ETA. Jon

I'm watching it now too. I did research on this myself last year for a report. This is the main reason why imported drugs are illegal in the US. Like people that wanted to buy drugs from Canada for fractions of the price. They actually mentioned Reps in their visit to China. They showed the "menu" of items just like you see on a visit to Canal St, NYC. I think the problem is the demand not the supply! The highest counterfeited drug is Viagra! There is a drug for everything now in the US, but pot is illlegal. Sometimes I have major issues with my own government! Its OK to get waisted on prescription pills and boose but you can't smoke a joint and watch a movie in your own home! If we Americans didn't demand these drugs they wouldn't produce counterfeits. Maybe as American's we are just doomed. Jon Edit: Just to add though, what happened to the elderly lady is tragic and horrible. The scum that allow these to enter the legitmate market should be shot! Sad part is they are probably employee's of these drug companies!

I contacted Ken initially about this watch. Then saw Eddie's post. I ordered from Eddie, then got a response back from Ken. Price was better with Eddie as well as the Payment options. I'll keep my business with someone I know I can trust! I'm not completely against WU, but your prices have to be very good for me to pay the $30 or so dollars in fees! Jon

I don't know how he got the info, but there was a thread here a week or so ago regarding the 5th Gen PO that Andy offered for a short period. This 5th Gen was mearly a fourth gen case, movement, and bracelet combined with a 3rd gen dial. Long story short. The 3rd gen dial's Logo was higher (too high). Whoever did the review also mentioned that the dials for both the 3rd and 4th gens were attached with two feet peirced through the dial. Neither of which could be properly repositioned. This 5th gen also had date window issues. The date wheel on the ETA had larger font than that of the 3rd gen's asian 21j. JOn

Yeah I spoke with him via Email/PM shortly after he listed. I asked him was he drinking a little early today and he replied "nah I'm in the airport, you know how boring these places are!" Eddie is a great guy, good sense of humor, can be very blunt too! Anyway, I pulled the trigger on this guy today. I've been searching for a nice size Breitling for awhile since I sold my Gen Super Avenger. Now it appears I may have found a solution! All I need to source now is an ETA 7753 and I'll be good to go! Jon
-
He probably knew it was fake when you walked in with a Rolex that had a marker floating around. Sorry to be blunt but I don't think this would happen on a gen. Jon

I had an ETA sub arrive like this. Sounded like loose change in the case. Easy fix. Remove the small screw, remove the rotor bearing, and pressure fit the rotor back in place. I actually did this w/o taking the screw out but itmay be safer to do otherwise. Good luck and keep us posted! jon

Misaligned date wheels seem to be a common problem on reps. Even PT's "Ultimate Sub" seems to have misaligned date wheel in his own pics. Its annoying as hell to spend $200-$400 on a watch and have these issues but remember your spending a fraction of what the gen counterpart would cost! Give it a trip to a rep friendly watchsmith and have them come up with something. Jon

DROOL....... Excuse me let me pick up my lower lip! I wish that order was headed my way! Jon
-
I just received this watch. It is definately Asian 7750. Jon
-
Thanks! It'll be ETA 7750 in just a few weeks! Jon
-
Seawolf if very nice rep. Main flaw is the "300m" on the back. I actually have the SS version of this watch which looks more like a Super Ocean. I've thought about doing a conversion but the bezel is slightly different. For now I'll let it remain a fantasy model, though it is one of my favorite watches. Love the heavy steel and polished finish! Cheers, Jon

Try not to forget the watches aren't exactly legal, so creating a stink with the postal service might only bring about negative attention! Kind of like going to the police because your weed man shorted you an ounce! Just my thoughts. I don't agree with what is going on and I know Joe has been sick so it seems, to everyone, this is a touchy subject but profit on a watch that hasn't been repaired is wrong! But as much as I hate to say it, sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with the loss. Just pay your $25 bucks, get your watch back, and never send him anymore of your business! Jon
-
I live in the States and have sent defective or broken watches back to Asia on several occasions. Just did this yesterday on a watch as a matter of fact. I always use the US Postal Service Flat Rate Small Envelope. Its perfect for watches. Its actually quite ridiculous. It costs me $4.05 to send a package two states away and only about $1 more to send a package all the way around the world! Bottom line is this! USPS offers US Global Priority in a Small Flat Rate Envelope for right under $6 This will ship to any where in the WORLD! You could put three or four watches in this thing and its fairly quick too! Sorry to butt in, as I haven't had any mods done by any of the members here but the $25 in shipping seems very ridiculous! Sounds like Ebay shipping prices which equate like this: $5 in shipping fees + $3 to cover ebay listing = $17 in additional profit or (Handling charges!) Since this isn't an Ebay transaction its just an additional $20 in profit! Good Luck! Jon

Don't forget the duct tape and the swiss army knife!

I beleive R0lex calls this color Glacier Blue, very nice looking! I prefer the non fluted bezel, but very nice watch. Jon
-
Alright if that beautiful woman doesn't beleive its right for you then I will happily buy it from you . How does $200 sound? j/k Wear it well! And Angus, man I'm a little upset I didn't get included in this group! Jon
-
Yes they are great reps, some of the best I own. Only downfall I beleive, except for the Seawolf, is the movement. But when the Asian 7750 dies in my two Chrono Breits I'll be doing an ETA 7750 swap! I just got this Navitimer in the mail today! Much thanks to Andrew (Trusty Watch Guy)! Jon
-
Sorry to hear about your recent misfortune. These things are ALWAYS blessings in disquise! Sometimes it doesn't seem like it right away, but in the long run things always work out for the best! Good luck! Jon

As much as I like the Daytona, I can't bring myself to drop the funds on something that is hacked and bound to break! When I go for one, it will either be vintage or pre-2001.

The Beast - I Suspect It Won't Be Long Now!
Bignasty replied to Watchmeister's topic in General Discussion
Yeah like I said, not looking so good! Looks like when they release, and they will when someone commits to the ridiculous buy-in the price will almost immediately fall through the floor! Basically who ever does the first buy-in will not be able to sell their massive stocks for nearly the margin as the other sellers will. Sucks for the seller. You commit to buying the watches. You pay outrageous costs and the next week other dealers can buy half as many as you for much less cost. So all the dealers are playing a game of chicken to see who will turn first and who won't flinch! If you ask me these manufacturers must really suck to deal with . Jon -

OK Not looking so good. It would take 50+ members to commit at a price of $750 or so! Doesn't sound that bad until you figure that is almost $40,000! So unless 50 members can genuinely commit at these prices the Swiss 7753 187 will remain out of reach! Jon Ed explained a lot of information to me about the way this business works and its sounds very cut throat!
