  1. Which GMT are you referencing...???
  2. The most overused letter in the language in reference to rep watches is: "U"...to ostensibly denote "ultimate"...It's mostly marketing bull$hit....Especially when these clowns add the "Lite" tag to denote that the "U" isn't really "ultimate" after all, but indeed somewhat "I"...or "inferior"!!! As a relative "old timer" in the rep scene, I'm amused, but I'm also a bit concerned when I see the newbies getting an old fashioned "hosing" by these "snake oil" vendors!! The true "ultimate" version of ANY watch is the one available at the AD's store....Everything else is "sub ultimate" IMNSFHO!!
  3. How hard would it be to take a ten cent piece of brass and put some accurate screen printing on it...???? There are redialing contractors that can virtually duplicate any existing dial surface for "peanuts" compared to these prices... I have had dials redone by Kirk Dial for $20.00 that are beyond any level of reproach...$1000.00 for a dial is INSANITY!!
  4. It is a "low beat" A 7750 clone...My advice to you is to refrain from using the chronos!!....These have a very spotty track record...Sorry to break the bad news to you....
  5. Rep collectors, like ALL consumers simply need to "vote with their feet"....There are better deals out there, just look around...At one time we were enamored by their wonderful customer service....But the 'horror stories" lately have been increasing rapidly....I have basically narrowed my buying to CONUS based dealers, and fellow collectors... Shop around...unless you REALLY need to have the very latest "super" reps, wait awhile...The "market" has a way of self leveling given time...By this time next year, those super hot "Big Bangs" etc. will be 30-40% cheaper.... ;)
  6. Maybe I'm crazy, but I wouldn't sped more than $200. for it even if it had a movement, case, and strap attached!! IMNSFHO, crap like this is a living example of the "naked king" syndrome....It's a painted brass disc ferchrissakes!!...
  7. Closest I've see is a RG 090 that TTK and WBK offered at times...Pure fantasy, but really well made with a Seagull 25-30, 35 j movements...I have 2 of them(SS, & PVD), and they are nice..And only cost @ $100....
  8. Watch out...looks like it has the old POS low beat 7750 movement....Wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole if it does!!....
  9. My Asian SFSO has a second hand where the red outlined square passes directly over the 24hr chapter ring... There are also some where the square is closer to the dial center...Are they both correct..???(See k222's post below) http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=74285
  10. I own this same watch....But mine is rose gold, and says Vacheron Constatin on the dial...And...$300. is wayyyyy more than I paid!!...This is the latest version of the ST-19 Seagull movement, with a date and moon phase feature added...Nice "fantasy" piece, but has no basis in reality...But who cares..?? Who even ever HEARD of a VC but us watch watchwonks??? ;)
  11. Based upon the rotor, and the plate directly below it, it appears to be almost certainly a Seagull movement...Except for the single suspended escapement, it appears almost identical to the 25-30's in my 090's...And you can see where this same base plate would exactly fit with the 25-30 double bridged escapement configuration...The swirl decoration on the plates appear to be exactly like the Seagull's too...So this appears to be a fairly robust well put together piece... ;)
  12. Try this: http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewt...ot+glue#p302265 I have not had the need myself, but it appears to be the solution!!
  13. My solution: When my trusty 217 crystal self destructed, I ordered an acrylic one from O.Frei...IIRC it was a 40.3mm pocket watch crystal that cost the "princely" sum of $4.00!!...It's not as highly domed as the original(@2.5mm), but it looks fine to me.... It was @ .1mm too large, but a slight touch up with emery cloth around the outside edge gave me a nice snug "snap in" fit that doesn't require any adhesive... BTW this is a "117" case....
  14. I'm almost afraid to ask..... But....How can you be absolutely CERTAIN this IS in fact a genuine dial...??? It seems, at best, somewhat implausible that someone would "part out" a $25,000.00+ watch!! And knowing about the vagaries of Ebay sellers..... ^_^
  15. You don't really NEED tubes at all !!....In fact several very talented strap makers..Tootall come immediately to mind, recommend AGAINST using them at all...In my 8 or 9 pams that have passed through my hands, I have only encountered one set of tubes, and they still sit in my junk box....
  16. I hope Dsn is astute enough to realize that like ALL consumers....Rep buyers "Vote with their feet!!" His once, almost "Deific", reputation among the serious Rep collecting community has been badly bruised lately by his obviously blaise attitude towards quality control. A liberal(almost!!) policy of replacement of defective stuff is no substitute for simple attention to detail BEFORE shipping...If he were in a neighborhood mall, it might suffice, but he's 1/2 the planet and at least 2 "borders" away from the vast majority of his customer base, making easy exchanges difficult and costly!!....There is simply NO excuse for shipping merchandise with obvious defects, like stripped screw holes and badly printed dials!!..And then, RESHIPPING them to some other poor sap!! There is no question among long time rep collectors that Dsn has been at or near the forefront in innovation and availability of difficult to obtain models, and we owe him kudos for that!.... But, his recent lapses have certainly given ME a "red flag" warning about dealing with him. I'm not posting this to influence the buying decisions of any other folks, just adding my 2cents!! And remember....Free advice is usually worth exactly what it costs!! ;)
  17. Here's my all time favorite!!...Omega Dynamic Chrono... Got it @6 yrs ago BNIB for $435,00US on an Ebay BIN deal!! With the sec @3:00 configuration, not an easy watch to rep!! Sort of makes buying an HBB rep a bit silly IMNSFHO !! ;)
  18. Sead is TRULY a "stand up" guy...(@6'5") IIRC...And his watches are great too!!...It's great to have reliable dealers in CONUS....And his pricing is usually better than the "drop shippers"....
  19. DO NOT BUY A 21.6 7750 base watch should be a sticky on every rep forum!! These movements are JUNK!!..Don't buy one!!...nuff said!!!!! <_<
  20. This guy is definitely NOT "One of us"..... If he was............ he'd have used margarine!! ;)
  21. This one: Aside from the slightly aged looking lume, and an extremely minor CG issue, it looks feels and runs like a gen...Since it in effect has a movement made by Omega(ETA 2836-2), I look at is as a "very close second"... And then there's this: I have never actually held a genuine 036 in my sweaty palms,(only a few ever have!!) but I cannot imagine it being a whole lot different on the wrist than this!!
  22. Got this one: Nice seagull movement, rose gold....pretty little dress up Pam....Rumor is that this style case is out of production...move while you can!!

    DSN cases

I seriously doubt he actually PRODUCES his OWN Ti cases...Here's why I feel so: I own a Ti 036, that I bought from a trusted dealer on another board in January of this year...This case has exactly the same "quirkiness" as the one you described earlier, the overly thick lug screws, the etched engravings, and the crown centered slightly higher than the center of the caseback...I know the CG isn't "standard", since I tried to switch it with another 036 case, and it wouldn't line up....This watch came with a proper canon pinion, a sapphire, single a/r coated crystal, and a 2mm crown that fits almost perfectly flush against the case, and a nicely fitted tight lever that contacts the crown dead center.(the only significant variation from the Dsn setup!)....And at the time I got it, it cost LESS than $150 !!...The only drawback to the entire setup is the fact that the Asian movement has the "curved" rather than the "angular" plate layout...A non issue to me, since nobody but me ever looks at it!! I feel that this case set is a good deal better finished and accurate than the other 036 that I had side by side with it... The only mod I found necessary to perform was to grind a gentle curvature to the face surface of the CG, to make it less flat, and truer to the genuine 036...This took @ 10 minutes, only because I work slow!!...All things considered, this is the nicest Ti case I have handled, but I would NEVER pay Dsn's prices to own one!! ;)
  24. Check here: http://www.repgeek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=100 "Sead" has been able to source them fairly recently, and he's a straight shooter!!...The one he got me has the exact same case as the Dsn., flush canon pinion, 2mm thick crown.... at less than 1/2 Dsn's prices....
  25. As a retired banquet chef, I can say that he'd last @ 2 days in any kitchen I've run!....They would find his badly pummelled body in a dumpster out back of the restaurant!!.........His principals of culinary technique are excellent, but his people skills are in the $hitter!!....No one would put up with that level of abuse for long!!
