You're kidding.....Right...???? Ask Unc Jay!!... :o http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=76103 Hey,it's YOUR money!!!!

A "broad spectrum" piece price wise...Not so much, appearance wise IMNSFHO!! You can buy these from $50-$500., depending upon your degree of "sphincter contraction"...If you're easily pleased you can get a new one for @ $100....or in my case $50.(used trade)...Be advised that that beautiful domed crystal will almost certainly self destruct at some time in the near future(even if you THINK you got a sapphire one!!) Here's my $50. example with a replacement "Ofrei"$4.00 acrylic crystal(@1.5MM less domed than original) that wont ever shatter without a serious blow!!

Not too long ago, I walked into a Rolex/Omega AD while wearing my blue Asian SFSO ....Almost immediately, the store manager offered me $1000.00 in trade for it on any watch in the store...And...he looked close too!! Needless to say, I politely declined and changed the subject... But I have owned 3 of these over the past year, and each one has been excellent...The blue one turnd out to be my "keeper", and I can't imagine EVER parting with it!! On the burgundy padded strap, it is striking!!

You have two chances of getting a guaranteed ETA these days.... Slim, and none whatsoever!! And..."Slim" left town last Tuesday!!
-
Sheer insanity IMNSFHO!!.... When you can buy a "nooby" that looks 98% like it for $99.00!! Regardless of HOW MUCH you spend, all you'll STILL have is a fake Rolex!! ;)

Not to mention the enormous red flag this sorry affair raise for anybody astute enough to realize that dealing with a non responsive fellow, half a world away can be very frustrating, and can easily be avoided by "voting with ones feet"...

Can't argue that....Buy unfortunately, it's next to impossible to guarantee that level of quality on most reps, and in effect, the glue "fix" does create an effective replacement collar...I was able to tighten up my Arktos lever by just using a "C -clamp" to force the pin down flush to the CG surface... Here's how it looked before a little "tweaking"

No he's not!!...Look here: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=8349 works like a charm too!!!

what would be the "condition" of our reps in 30 yrs.

Ask my grand kids....Since I'll be 97 then!!!...And I probably wont give a $hit either!!!... You don't buy $100.00 reps for "the long haul"... But here's an @ 30 year old Timex(Just checked...It is exactly 30 yr old!! has 1978 production code!!) for comparison...Still BNIB!! It ain't how old...it's how much wear it gets!! BTW the Timex still keeps good time whenever I give it a few cranks to keep the oils slippery!! -

Well....I HAVE the money......But watches ain't what I'm gonna spend it on!!...Especially when I have waaaaay too many already!!...There are lots of places to dispose of excess bucks that are a lot more "rewarding" than jewelery!! Especially overpriced jewelery!! ;)
-
It's good that somebody found a GOOD use for those cases, since Dsn certainly hasn't lately!! ;)

Back when I was collecting vintage stuff..... I used to buy boxes of old watches for almost nothing...I often took non functional movements and solvent dipped them to see if they would unfreeze ....Some did, some didn't...But you'd be amazed at how much gunk will accumulate in one of those old snap on caseback watches!!...Sometimes the solvent would turn black!!...My procedure with those that would start running, was to then spray them liberally with WD-40, just to check amplitude etc...Then if they appeared salvageable, I'd give them a proper cleaning and oiling...I have several vintage watches in my box that are still running strong 5-7 yrs later, after that treatment... Since the majority of my reps these days contain Asian movements, service isn't even an issue...If the movement "packs up", it's cheaper to simply swap it out for a new one...Oddly, I have maybe 40 watches with Asian movements, and not 1 has had any problems!!...They may look crude, but they keep on ticking!! :D

+1...What he said!!...$450 for ANY rep is insanity IMNSFHO!!...
-
Here's my order strategy...... Find a reliable source...Then order it there!! WTF needs to be abused by a dealer who obviously doesn't give a $hit about QC...??? <_<
-
Got to agree..SOSF ...best $100. I've ever spent on a rep!! Most guys spend more than that on AR and lume...!!! ;)
-
'I find it hard to believe that anybody here is still drinking this brand of "Kool Aid"... Why would ANYONE pay double what REPUTABLE dealers ask, to get such shoddy $hit!!!! <_<
-
How much more of this are you folks willing to take...??? Spending @ double what you need to, hopefully to get close to perfection, then getting sloppily assembled JUNK instead..??...Give me a break!! :o
-
Those usually sell in the $90.-100. range in nice shape...You can't get burned too bad if you buy from the dealers here... I have sold several Asian Rolexes usually within 85-90% of my purchase prices... Reps are like any other commodity...If you "buy right", you'll have no problems at resale time...Good luck...

A little loc tite on both the strap post ends AND the screws might help...Or some clear lacquer, or some epoxy...??? My only problems with my only Rad case with removable wires has been the opposite!!...The screws are frozen in place, making it impossible to remove the lug wires without some serious, and potentially case damaging forcing !! Fortunately, I like the strap that came on the watch, and, being rose gold, I seldom wear it except when "dressing up" which don't happen much anymore to a retired guy in SW Florida!!.... :D
-
Green "Tuffy" scrubber pad...Been using it for 20 yrs now!!...Never fails...Available in the soap aisle at your supermarket for less than a buck!!
-
Yeah!! me too!!!....I went away for a couple of months and he was gone...What happened...????
-
Yeah...A lot of their Omegas come equipped with a Coaxial movement...ROTFFLMFAO!!! ;)
