  1. It's a silver dial and I thought it was an excellent rep when I owned one. I had it a couple years ago before I started building franken DJ's. BTW, I've still got that gen dial that I'm not using if you decide to build one. I had it in a franken for a while before I switched it out to a stick dial.
  2. "File not found" 10 more minutes, I guess.
  3. 10 minutes in RG time means see you in a couple of days.
  4. OK I'll say right is gen just to be different. The length of the second hand is correct, although you can't even see the other one. Could you have taken a crappier picture if you tried?
  5. Chris at CLS Watches in Pasadena specializes in restoration work. You could give him a shout. http://www.clswatch.info/CLS/services.html
  6. http://www.clswatch.info/CLS/services.html CLS in Pasadena is quite good with chrono movements. He's in Pasadena.
  7. Seems like Subs always look bigger on someone else.
  8. Well opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. And you can shove yours up your ass also..
  9. I'm at the point I'd almost rather give away a rep than try to sell it to the noobs on the forums these days. Seems like everyone thinks they're buying at Sears or Walmart.
  10. Just stick a pin in the hole and pull it out. Probably stuck in with a little double sided tape. Heat from a hair dryer will loosen it up if it's tight. Can't get any easier. Either glue in the new one or get some double sided tape and line up the new one and push it in. If you use glue just make sure you don't glue the moveable parts of the bezel

  12. I remember back when the Hunt Brothers ran up the price of silver back in the 70's many thousands of family heirlooms such as silver ware, tea sets, candelabras, etc disappeared forever to the smelters. It was a shame then and a shame now. The largest export from the State of Florida last year was gold that was shipped to Switzerland. I was shocked when I read that. It also makes you wonder how much of it was stolen watches, jewelry, etc. that was melted down before it could be traced.
  13. Your LC tracking number is really only a US Customs number. It isn't a USPS tracking number and will not work as soon as the package leaves the US. EDIT: I see you knew that in your first post..........Never mind!
  14. Why reps are often hard to wind. Here's a picture of the mainspring when I had my new 288K serviced. And we wonder why they don't last. Takes a lot of pressure to wind a spring full of dried up oil residue.
  15. I had graduated college and made and lost my first million and wore a Rolex Oysterquartz by 1980.
  16. OK. I'll play
  17. Except the second hand has moved. Looks gen to me at first glance.
  18. Actually, sharp whacks on a hard surface with also demagnetize things. Google it. I happened to be looking for a way to demagnetize a screwdriver and that's what it said to do. Fortunately I found a better way with a soldering gun that actually worked great. Gotta love Google.

  20. Has the engraving on the case back been done? Love to see a picture.
  21. Maybe it was your watch that Rex was working on and it wasn't soap film after all. YUK!
  22. I stopped wearing a watch in the shower after I saw some pictures posted by watchmaker Rex showing how nasty they got with all the soap and dirt stuck in the bracelet and everything. Not because of being afraid of water proofing. It's just plain nasty.
  23. According to Rex, there is only one specific type of oil recommended by ETA for the rotor. Silicone has a tendency to migrate and when cleaning the watch parts the silicone ruins the cleaning fluid which then has to be replaced. He says please leave the rotor alone or leave it to the experts. Besides, I've never heard an ETA rotor that was loud enough to be heard while normal wearing.
  24. I'd say the bottom one with the recessed HEV is the new one. The middle is the SSD. And by elimination, the top is gen.
