  1. According to Angus' latest post on RG today, the bezel assembly is typical rep.
  2. I once spent quite a bit of time trying to put back a second hand on a Miyota movement and couldn't get it on for nothing. Turns out when I pulled it off, it took part of the pin with it. You might try looking real close at the inside of the tube.

I went over to the beach last evening and saw we lost the next generation of sea turtles. All the nests seem to have washed away and the beach was littered with turtle eggs, mostly smashed. Surfers were having a good time though. Waves about 8 to 10' off Palm Beach. Best of luck to the people on the Outer Banks of the Carolinas. Looks like they'll get hammered and it could be very expensive up in the New York City area.
  4. Some times it's delivered before the web site is updated. You should use the USPS web site once it leaves China. It's still not gonna get there any faster though.
  5. Submariner with a GMT bezel insert. Wrong crown position. Dial marker surrounds are too big. Minute hand is too short. Horrible bracelet with solid mid links. Wrong stampings. Fugly clasp. Among other things........
  6. I thought the rep users mainly use the 2836 because it comes standard with a one size taller canon pinion and 4th wheel because of the day wheel mechanism. I've never actually confirmed this though, so maybe one of the experts will fill us in.
  7. Nice to see an old post like this revived. It's always been one of my keepers..
  8. I love the people that come in and ask for advice and then go on with their purchase from shady dealers. That's about as obviously bogus as any I've seen since Blue Fakes and Zenithmotor were around. They also advertised Visa and Mastercard but their service was always "down" so they offered you a 10% discount for using Western Union instead. Make sure you let us know how it turns out!
  9. JO has a pretty ugly dark green insert from what I remember. I'd rather have a thin one the right color. You usually have to file them down to seat properly anyways.
  10. Agreed. It's quite an optical illusion. Makes me wonder how stupid I look when I wear a Pam.
  11. I, for one, find it most annoying how some sellers will immediately answer PM's until after the sale. Then all of a sudden they no longer have time. With that being said, I have found Canadian mail to the US to be very slow. Sometimes up to 3 weeks. Maybe it's just the Canadian way of doing things, eh! Give it another week before you panic.
  12. What I meant is that bracelet is ready to go on a gen case and if you should decide to do that I would send it on to you at a very reasonable price.
  13. Yes but it takes a little Dremel work to get the spring bars to line up. Here's a picture of a rep bracelet on a gen case on the right. Let me know if you decide to go that way. I still have that bracelet and don't use it since I replaced it with a gen Jubilee.
  14. Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I might be better off having it done professionally.
  15. I meant to put in a link:Caswell Plating Kits They have kits for brass, nickel, copper and many others. I was also thinking how nice it would be to rhodium plate some DJ bezels like the gen ones, but that rhodium is mighty expensive.
  16. Has anyone tried these inexpensive plating kits. I'm particularly interested in the 18k gold plating kit at $235. I'm wanting to plate a SS case and re-plate a couple of pieces that are starting to show some wear. It looks pretty easy and straightforward from the video but I'm curious as to the finished product quality.
  17. Probably the reversing gear or wheel or whatever it is that allows the rotor (and mainspring) to un-spin is not working correctly. Could be dirt or broken part but it's an easy fix for your watch smith.
  18. And, you'll have to paint it green yourself. But that's the easy part. You're in for a lot of heartache trying this unless you replace the canon pin, hour, minute wheel, and the GMT gear. Or find a custom set of hands with long tubes.
  19. Here's a decent seller that will do either branded or un-branded. Raffle-time on eBay EDIT: Oops I see it's already been mentioned..........
  20. Very nice collection. And though I don't mean to take away from it but I'm kind of curious about one thing. I didn't know that WM9 ever had a engraved rehaut model. Anyone else have any info on this?
  21. Just reading this thread is giving me a headache. "I want great watch Rolex. Must be waterproof like gen and fool all people. I want pay no money or very little. Must be cheap, cheap. Like strap but might fade. What I do then? Will rep have same guarantee as gen?" Buy the damn TimeShops Noobmariner and get on with your life. You've way over analyzed a $50 toy watch.
  22. Just curious Brian, how much did this movement cost you? Apparently there is no question that it's not a gen ETA 7750. As far as I know, there's not a lot of people that go around making up replica Tag Cal 16 movements out of gen ETA 7750's to rip off unsuspecting rep buyers. Sounds like a first in my years of dealing with reps. I'm glad that I mostly play with Rolex reps. One thing about Rolex is nothing can be taken for granted. They seem to use whatever is laying in the old parts bin to make the last run of most of their watches.
  23. I don't see the need for posting this on every forum before trying to work it out with the Admin here, where the alleged scam activity took place. I don't think that one picture is going to convince anyone that it's not gen. Anyway, it'll be interesting to hear the other side of the story.
  24. I understand why you would want it to be perfect. But, things like small scratches on the clasp? Come on. Are you planning on wearing it or putting it on display? A week after you start wearing it, it will look a lot worse.
  25. I've been buying from Josh for years and have never heard of him giving any discounts for anything. The only thing you get for his higher prices is fast response and good after sales service if there's a problem.
