  1. Once more, with feeling... If you get Errorsafe messages, it means YOU are infected. There is no other way of your getting those messages. To suggest that the site removes one of its only revenue sources because you installed a trojan is a little self-centred in my opinion. Clean up your computer: You're part of the problem.
  2. I do see what you're getting at and we do need a decent tri-compax rep movement, but if we're going to get one, it has to be the right thickness otherwise our reps would be too deep. I'd like one that's flippable from seconds at 3 (2894) to seconds at 9 (7753), but I'm probably asking too much. However, I reckon something has to be done as ETA have pretty much phased out the 7753 in favour of the $400 2894 and as such, our ingenious Chinese friends will have to come up with a solution for the new Breitlings, TAGs, etc. that use the seconds-at-3 movement.
  3. Today? Seeing as I fixed my PO Strap with good old British gumption, I thought I'd start a wristcheck with it. What ho, chaps!
  4. Ok, yes, I see what you mean. Ouch.
  5. You're right, but only in the way a Ducati racebike is just an engine stuck in a frame. Anthrax Bloke on the 2894: http://www.spitzwatch.com/WatchMaking/eta/index.html Google will yield many results on the 2894, but this is the most fun. Ofrei's description: "12.25 ligne, 37 jewels, Incabloc shock protection, automatic, sweep seconds, date at 4 o'clock. This is ETA’s newest, finest and now highest-grade movement to date. It has been promoted in the major publications directed at the professional watchmakers and jewelers as a symbol of their watchmaking brilliance. Don’t forget the fact that this is an 12.25 ligne automatic chronograph which is quite an accomplishment. "
  6. The 2894 is a really complex movement. It's hardcore. At this point, why not rep the El Primero. ps. One reason the 2894 is hard to rep: It's very, very slim. Another, the amount of torque produced on the chrono flyback means if you ever remove the second hand, you need a new one. Also, you need special tools to even look at it.
  7. He was quoting the price Cousins buys it at.
  8. Perfect, thanks.
  9. Right there with you. I'm doing my best pointing this out, but it looks like a nasty new trend.
  10. True, but that doesn't mean much. It still looks nothing like the Rolex movement.
  11. I beg to differ.
  12. It's not an ETA, though.
  13. I think you don't fundamentally understand how spyware and trojans work. Firstly, you have to install them, one way or another. Secondly, once they're installed, everything bad is happening on your computer, the spyware just pretends it's on the internet. Here's how it is: You installed something and it's giving you problems. Trying to blame this site doesn't help you get to the root of the problem. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Errorsafe
  14. And it needs updating for all the new stuff!
  15. Mr Gates hasn't been in charge for a long time.
  16. Seconds at 9, date at 3, Automatic. What better than a 7750?
  17. In that case, it's still not the forum's problem. What's probably happening is they've latched onto the google ads so your computer sees errorsafe. Have you tried it on other sites with google ads?
  18. As we suspected, not worth getting fixed. If you want a good Daytona, any of the dealers here would be happy to help you for a lot less than $327. I'm sorry I can't do better than that, but it's ok, you found us in the end.
  19. Would you care to revise this stance? http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=19292 Damn, all I keep doing for poor Slay is posting how wrong he was after the fact. It's getting tiring and makes him grumpy instead of his usual entertaining Cartman self.
  20. It's not this site. You've broken your PC: don't blame it on this site.
  21. Not me, thankfully. I just tested the thread too and it seems fine.
  22. What's the non-ETA one that has the date that goes the wrong way round and can therefore take gen datewheels?
  23. That's exactly what Mrs Pugwash says! I have finer tools and they just didn't seem appropriate. This is a man's watch that's not afraid to hunt you down and kick your ass. Approaching it with a fine file and dremel saw will get you in a world of trouble. You need 12-inch aircraft metal shears and a vice. I was looking for a hunter/gatherer solution and this seemed to fit. If I could have rented an Angle Grinder, I would have, but I was pressed for time.
  24. Yeah, cos it came out in France last year.
