Eh? Every time I put my GST or Noobmariner on after it's run down, I give it two winds and set it. Either one, after wearing it for 8 hours, it'll run for 2 days. My 7753 196 gives me almost 3 days.
My Seikos don't even wind up at all - they have no manual winder. You shake 'em, set 'em and wear 'em. They too run for days after a few hours of wearing.
I'd say Wheaton's watch is pooched.
One of the best films ever made. Definitely in my top-ten.
No, I'm not joking, it's near perfect as a buddy/action movie. Everything apart from the opening song.
My brother lives in Thailand and I visited him recently. It took me a while to get to grips with how cheap labour costs were. My Seiko was serviced and had parts replaced for about $20-$25, and that's in the fancy Seiko building. My concern was getting the 5 different grades of swiss oils ETA insists on.
Excellent post. However, as one of the tricky things in a service is the expensive oils, I expect your $13 service wouldn't stand up against a $200 The Zigmeister job.
I will admit to not understanding the tuna-can designs like the Submessible at all. They're just fugly.
As for personalities, By-Tor has publicly stated he will never wear one, but I do. You'll never see me with a 187, though. Ever.
My Seiko was serviced in Bangkok by the Seiko Service Centre for about $25, including replacement parts. I'd expect an ETA service would be no more than $40 if you use the right oils.
Having said that, I believe that $120 surcharge does in fact go towards much more than just the movement. Isn't there some case modding done as well?
