  2. Eh? Every time I put my GST or Noobmariner on after it's run down, I give it two winds and set it. Either one, after wearing it for 8 hours, it'll run for 2 days. My 7753 196 gives me almost 3 days. My Seikos don't even wind up at all - they have no manual winder. You shake 'em, set 'em and wear 'em. They too run for days after a few hours of wearing. I'd say Wheaton's watch is pooched.
  3. Depends on the strap.
  4. One of the best films ever made. Definitely in my top-ten. No, I'm not joking, it's near perfect as a buddy/action movie. Everything apart from the opening song.
  5. mmm ... snowy
  6. Hey, welcome back.
  7. My brother lives in Thailand and I visited him recently. It took me a while to get to grips with how cheap labour costs were. My Seiko was serviced and had parts replaced for about $20-$25, and that's in the fancy Seiko building. My concern was getting the 5 different grades of swiss oils ETA insists on.
  8. Excellent post. However, as one of the tricky things in a service is the expensive oils, I expect your $13 service wouldn't stand up against a $200 The Zigmeister job.
  9. For me, it's TTK's Noobmariner:
  10. I will admit to not understanding the tuna-can designs like the Submessible at all. They're just fugly. As for personalities, By-Tor has publicly stated he will never wear one, but I do. You'll never see me with a 187, though. Ever.
  11. *Pugwash sticks hand up * ...sorry, that was me.
  12. I'm looking for a 18mm strap for my 1975 Seastar too!
  13. Amazing review. You're putting the rest of us to shame. ... after the IWC GST Chrono.
  14. I'm up for it once my Navitimer finally arrives.
  15. Fugly.
  16. That's what I thought. I was being polite, though.
  17. Hmm ... I think it's not too bad.
  18. This stops it from devolving into a train-wreck.
  19. Good idea. Let's get a meet sorted soon. I fancy an evening of sophisticated chat, beer and cigars, but I'll settle for a watch meet instead.
  20. Funny, as this watch leaked. It needed fixing by Seiko. Luckily, when I was without it on holiday, it made me get an Orange Monster.
  21. My Seiko was serviced in Bangkok by the Seiko Service Centre for about $25, including replacement parts. I'd expect an ETA service would be no more than $40 if you use the right oils. Having said that, I believe that $120 surcharge does in fact go towards much more than just the movement. Isn't there some case modding done as well?
  22. ... at that point, for under $100 ...
  23. I'm still very close to getting one of these ... How about a GST?
