  2. I've always been a massive fan of the Vintage Explorer 1655 aNd recently wanted to add a bit of my own personality to my existing watch. So after a search regarding modded/altered versions over the years i came across Ken Takakura's watch. I guess it just goes to show that nothing ever suprises me when it comes to the world of Vintage sports Rolex. Added a nice saw edged 1675 bezel and a cousins insert, transforms the watch for me and adds a bit of weight in appearance. Ken certainly had a great eye as far as I'm concerned Cheers DH
  3. Gotta say if the funds were there, I'd love one. Beautifully done and the nicest concept I've seen in a long time
  4. My 1655 has just been to Finand for an overhaul and can't wait to get it back!!! I can highly recommend SSTEEL a highly trustworthy member and a good friend
  5. I'd really advise against the chocolate gears such a shame they didn't get it right in terms of half decent materials
  6. Hi fanatic I have one in a 1655 rep and ssteel after a full service has got it to CSOC standards and running perfectly. eta never offered a 2836 with gmt function so the gmt gears are asian but perfect Hope that helps
  7. Another Big Dazza masterpiece!
  8. Congratulations on a truly iconic build, simply beautiful Cheers DH
  9. Looks 100% right to me, Ive seen a few examples of the double stamping on vintage case backs. Funny to think that this was fine for Rolex to produce back then, regarding their QC dept!
  10. Its his daughters ebay store cheers
  11. By the ways guys, this is simply phong in disguise DH
  12. Glad you like it sir! It is indeed a wonderful piece Cheers DH
  13. Another fantastic job from our man in Finland. Great job Micky
  14. Thanks rower, yeah I'm a bit bored with the whole vintage over done look, the White lume dial on joshs 1655 is actually very good and very close to the beyeler mk6 dial.
  15. In order to create the right shape for the crown guards on a 1655 and 1675 build you need to use a dreamel with a grinding head that's around 15mm in diameter then use the rear of the case as a guide line. There's an inner ridge that you need to grind down too. In the case of the 1655 the case needs to sit flush with the bezel at the points at 4 and 8. Your looking at removing about 2mm at this point then need to taper this to the lug hole. Hope that makes sense! If you have a look at the1655 qc pictures on Josh's site then compare the case to mine you'll see the difference. Cheers DH
  16. Thanks mate, a very misunderstood watch in terms of Rolex's history Cheers M
  17. Forgot to mention, the cartel case needs a Lot of metal removingto make it anywhere close to gen in terms of the crown guards
  18. Well the itch hasn't stopped with me and the Rolex 1655 explorer model, decided to do a nice budget build. I'm in the process of having my phong bezel modded to fit a gen spec T116 plexi as for some reason it's just a tad too small once installing it onto the cartel case. I just need to ask Mr Daz to drill the lug holes and perhaps remove the gear to make it a non adjustable 24hr hand function as per the gen 1575 Cheers DH
  19. Yes mk1/2 OR ingod44 which are pretty much as close to gen as you can get but no longer available' what does the dial have stamped on the back? Cheers
