offshore replied to plaifender's topic in General Discussion
@plaifender, Watch Bitz have a large quantity on the way...Hi Beat 2813 with the tall cannon pinion. These are only made to special order, and have a minimum order requirement. I hope to see stocks early in the New Year. Offshore -

Hey Dems, Even old stagers like me use a decent browser, and Google Chrome is the only way to fly! (They even have an incognito window to hide your porn) Get with the strength mate! O/S -
Just keep 'em coming J, and I'll keep reportin' 'em! Feels like old times O/S

Reported.

Square and rectangular hole punches are available, although it appears every person needing one requires a different size!! Are you sure this is the size needed? If you can wait approx 1 month, I can source one and have it sent to you. PM if interested. O/S

has anyone had problems with shipping to australia lately?
offshore replied to arminvanbuuren's topic in General Discussion
Hmmmm, This just shows the vagaries of the postal service...I have a carton right now, sitting in GZ for 7 days, and it has not yet showed as moving, ( they normally move after about 3-4- and are received a couple of days later) I think it's "that time of year". Also have a couple of clients from various places, who are still waiting for items air mailed from here in mid November, so I think we just need to accept that the post is a bit erratic right now. O/S -
Thanks people, I hope that answers the queries. I will now get those size kits. O/S

OK, thanks for that, however are there not bigger sets needed? I hear talk of the 47mm and 48mm Panerais.???? Now I realise the dies needed are smaller than this, however do these dies cover all the large Pams? Offshore.

I would appreciate that, kind sir! (Was going to PM you before posting, but thought someone else may have the info) O/S

A quick note for any of the RWG crew attending...if you want to collect, or look at any Watch Bitz items, please give me a PM before the middle of next week. I already have couple of things to throw in the bags for some of the Sydney crew. Offshore.

There are 2 answers here. As far as servicing, any 1/2 decent watchsmith should be able to service and reassemble. In fact if they couldn't, I would be looking for someone with that capacity. However the parts availability is another matter entirely. If we use other Chinese- previously manufactured movements as an example, parts will be VERY difficult to obtain. The fact of the matter, is that the Chinese do not see spare parts as a necessity! My take is that they see it from these views.- "Our movements are so good we don't need spares" (not factual, but they keep repeating the mantra!) "The price we sell these at (in 10,000 lots) is so low, why buy a spare part?"(True...how many of us need 10,000 right now?) "The cost of running a spare parts department, staffing, parts stocking, technical drawings, is way beyond the cost of the item...just buy a new one" ( IMO the most valid argument) And the one area which they won't even discuss, is that if a revision is made, a part is altered, they would require a tracking system for V1, V2 etc. The way the industry currently "evolves"....just makes this sort of record keeping nye on impossible. ( without incurring huge costs) Now we all know that by the time one of these movements gets to the retail market, it can cost $20-$100, which is many times its factory cost. However this is mainly due to the MOQ restrictions placed, and the large discounts for big quantities which are offered. Unfortunately our Chinese friends only recognise the lowest price they sell something at, anything above that is just considered a bonus. So don't hold your breath waiting for parts supply, I can't see it happening. Offshore

Can anyone give me the size dies required to push crystals on the larger Panerai's? (43-48mm?} There will be a base die, which fits in the caseback side, (Normally a flat die is used) and dies for the crystal pressing side, (which are normally multi sided, and with angled flanges) We have a large number of inquiries, and I am attempting to piece together a special "Panerai" die set, specifically for this purpose. Currently the largest stock crystal die in a set is 41/43(mm), and case or bottom die is 35mm. However we have a number of other die sets, with dies to 50mm available. I just want to make sure the sets we finally end up with, contain desirable dies. Any advice or discussion on this is most welcome. Thanks, Offshore

Just tell the seller to list it as a sheep sex aid. It will get straight through You do have some K1W1 compatriots on the boards here......... I'm sure they will be along to give you some local advice. I have never heard of any issues there, so I assume its similar to Oz, in that unless you ship commercial quantities, or exceed a pre set $ value, they will just let them fly thru. BTW, say Hi to that chick I met in Auckland....Baaaa braaaaa! O/S

In hand! Will wait until it is finalised, and pin the final listing. O/S

Thanks chubbchubb....I did remember that thread being commenced, but couldn't for the life of me re find it (with our latest goddamn useless version of the search engine!) Looks like it went to Wiki, and thence into the great unknown! I'll make sure the final version of this is appropriately pinned. Offshore PS @ thogaa- Yep, should be COSC.

Good to see some input! FWIW ( for what its worth) you can use the "TT" for trusty, or alternatively for two tone, as in gold and stainless, not necessarily our much vaunted Admin. O/S

Hey, great idea! Sounds just like a community task that a 147 post newb could take on, with the help of some older members. We could maybe PIN a well complete and up to date listing I'll start- MILF, My current amorous desires! WTF, An exclamation of disbelief So there's 2 to roll with. Surely you must have figured out some of the others, and this list really should really be enlarged on. Go for it. Its your home too! Offshore Edit, I see Agrippa has given you a flying start...now let's get a BIG list going.

Well they are gooing and gahing at the orange farm now! Bit different to the initial reaction. Maybe its just the calibre of member that sets places apart And the generosity of both body and spirit. O/S

Ubi/Bertie, If you MUST get the bezel off, (and I read that probably you don't), there is only one sure way without doing damage. This tool- , will do that very job....cleanly and efficiently. Unfortunately there is no alternative than to use various of the snap case back tools. I have used the Seiko style caseback tool to some effect, however, short of jamming a set of razorbades or case knifes under the bezel at 3 or 4 different points, you need to have one of these. It is VERY well engineered, and does work! A shameless promo, I know, but these are the only, and best answer I have seen. O/S
-
Just wonderful R! So did you have it tested as well? With a working bezel, you could go and blow some bubbles with it............. something around 150' would be a good starting point! JK. However, what if anything else was done? Service? If so, what was it like inside? Seals, and did you replace or retain the originals? I will be really interested to know the strategy you adopt to keep this "original" Offshore

The seller timeman.net sells a lot of watches on consignment. Some prices are pretty accurate, and some are the dreams of their owners, however a watch is worth what the market will pay, so any site which shows a watch as sold, needs to be taken with some creedence. Of course we don't know the final selling price, ( I believe a lot of negotiation takes place) but maybe its not a bad starting point. Any watch which has been unsold for a lengthy time, is probably overpriced, and if you slightly undervalued the asking prices which look close, you wouldn't be too far away. Offshore

These are now listed in the shop, www.watchbitz.com.au Quite a few new items added today. O/S
