  1. So, do we need to start making some "Curator" badges? (Great idea guys, hopefully it can be run amongst a few willing helpers.) O/S
  2. Still pretty quiet there right now. Some are back to work, but a lot aren't due until the 12th. So things may start to roll after Monday next. (Hopefully)(I have a couple of LARGE boxes to come!) Offshore
  3. @asf, We have available a large selection of assortments of various items. Pins, crowns, stems, hands, crystals, etc.and these will be listed shortly. I am just waiting for my supplier to confirm some new pricing levels, which will hopefully be by early next week. (As soon as they return from their Chinese holidays!) We will have a strap selection, and some more standard parts items, such as stems, hands, and the like. We will also be able to offer some level of "find a part", if we can have specific details; this is an area I have thought a lot about, and it is a difficult one, so I have not yet decided at exactly what level we will operate, as of now. There are many unresolved concepts, we are maybe 70% complete in building an online store, however there are some difficulties in giving our forum people access at a pricing level better than normally offered, and we are working on some mods for that now. In the meantime, if anyone has a specific request, they only need to fire a question to watchbitz@bigpond.com, and we will do our best to accommodate any request. Offshore
  4. A quick flight to China, and a month in the GZ markets may fill a couple of wants/needs! JK. You need to specifically target your need. There is not a one stop shop. Part of the "fun" of all this, is the chase...... the search..... and the hunt. Bit like women, once you get 'em into the cot, you can't wait to get 'em out. That too was all about the hunt, not the conquest!(Or the kill, dependent on your POV) Seek and ye shall find. Offshore
  5. Yeh, well don't come knocking for a week or so yet, most of the goods are still in the air! We should however have a good range of stocks on hand in a week to 10 days! See you then. Offshore
  6. Exactly! Dem's, please don't make me invoke rule 8,for fuck's sake! O/S
  7. Guys, The rules are in place, for when they are needed. No more, no less. Do we apply them at every breach? Not likely! However sometimes rules are breached too regularly, and with a different intent or spirit. THEN, they have a place! We don't trot 'em out often! Only when needed. Offshore
  8. @Val, Thanks for the best wishes, will try to make things run as smoothly as possible. In fact, I will be a probationary dealer, as anyone else, until I earn my stripes! And wouldn't have it any other way. @All. Thanks for the welcome to "Watch Bitz" We will be doing our best to supply quality, affordable products, and introduce some new and innovative items. Should anyone need anything from a pin press, to a production line, we can help!! Thanks guys. Offshore Just shoot an email, and we will respond as quickly as we can get answers.
  9. Here is an interesting aside to this thread. Our Chinese friends have also become very adapt at copying SI and Lithium batteries for quartz watches. Now Maxell have identified a "tell" on the copies of their brand. Currently, I have some 20,000 batteries sitting in customs here, waiting clearance. I was advised yesterday, that the reason for the delay, is an investigation being undertaken as to the authenticity of my consignment! Apparently Maxell have lodged the "tells" with customs; I pity the poor officer who needs to check all 20,000 As they are blister packed, I hope they don't need to check everyone!!!!! Just being facetious there, I'm sure they will random sample them. As mine are from a Maxell agent, I hold no fears for their authenticity, however it does show the levels authorities will go to once an issue is identified. FWIW, apparently the fakes have a more scratched appearance, on the negative contact side, the gens are much smoother and shinier. Apart from that, it requires a voltage, and/or load test, to determine which are copied. O/S
  10. It took me a couple of hours to receive the reset email as well, but once received it was AOK! If anyone is having probs email daytona 4me [daytona4me@gmail.com]. He will sort it (eventually.) They have a few issues to sort, as we did, but I'm sure they will get on top of this. O/S
  11. One of the focuses on my recent trip to China, was to try source the best screwdriver set I could find. (Cost vs Quality) As drivers are the most used and abused tool on the bench, I thought it may be of interest, to analyse my thought processes and pre requisites. I have some personal
  12. Thats not as bad as the member who found a "short & curly" galloping around inside his movement, a few years back. (And it was photographed in situ!) What were they doing on the kitchen table? Offshore
  13. I just had a quick chat with D4M....he thinks the sluggish performance, is just an overload of the server with all the password re installs, and it will be much faster in 24 hours! Would be great if that is the case. Can't wish upgrade dramas on anyone, we know all about it. Time will tell! Offshore
  14. How did I miss this? To one of our most positive contributors. Hope you had a great day M! Offshore
  15. @OrenG, No doubt! However I believe that "Caveat Emptor" should apply to every transaction we have in life. When I was recently in China, I found there was a major problem with counterfeit money. And do you know one of the most likely sources? The Banks! Apparently they get a lot of counterfeit passed, and need to dispose of it. So they look for "silly Westeners" to pass it on to! It's not acceptable for it to go back into the system! The best place to get currency in China is ATM's, as it's checked and fresh. Offshore
  16. My vote is "No" as well, as much as we'd all like to play. Keeps things well above board that way. And by the look of the poll results, the mods and admin all feel that way! O/S
  17. Ahhh, you need to search deep down in the dark cellar, young grasshopper! http://www.rwgforum.com/forum/198-watch-collectors/ I'm sure you'll find some interesting items to peruse! Offshore
  18. :Shakes head in disbelief:
  19. Pho, Synthetic sapphire, IS sapphire! Mineral is an entirely different product. (There are also plain glass as distinct from mineral, but these are very rare.) Seiko produced the range of "Sapphlex" which were these composite sapphire/MG crystals for their sports range. These may help to. O/S
  20. I will have a parts breakdown for the movement if you need it.And set instructions for the watch. Just PM. O/S
  21. Maybe the word "vibrator" may be better used than "ultrasonic". This is 6.5k, whereas the "bigger" AC units are 20k and 32k. Seems like that tells a story. O/S
  22. @freddy, Thanks my friend, I'll make the necessary adjustments. @clkcadet, If you entertain doing any work on watches, DON'T buy a screwdriver or a set, at the local hardware store! And buy the best set of drivers you can find. They are without doubt the one tool which any repairer needs to have the best quality available. You can get some reasonable sets from maybe $25-$30 and upwards. Top quality Swiss sets can run to as much as $200. The correct size, is the one that fits snugly into the screw head, which is why you need a set of 6-9 various sizes. Have a search through the various posts here, it is a subject which is much discussed. Offshore
