  1. ....calling? I bet that's screaming at you! Great looking model. Unusual.
  2. Hi Davey. Good to see you back! That TAG Carrera you swapped out the movement for me, is still beating strong! PT is still about, Homer too (though quiet on this board). You will get very quick service from Narikaa, if what you need is in the UK at the time. Can't wait for your 'garage' sale. Must be some classic bits in your collection! BTW, best update your sig!
  3. Great model indeed Lani. I have a real cheapy version bought a couple of years ago from Tonyxkf (now Watcheden). Not a bad model for the money but would like a better version. I have mine on leather too, having ditched the SS strap because the buckle was always popping open. Yours looks superb, though.
  4. Hey freddy, what great reference shots. Invaluable!
  5. Fabulous piece. The work on the movement to skeletonise it, is superb. I agree, it is a very clear and functional dial. You must be pleased. Congrats!
  6. Just received a leather strap with deployant buckle to bolt onto my 42mm PO. Just have to say that your PO isn't complete without one! Quality leather, great orange stitching, and a heavy weight buckle. Mine is the 20mm version which is matt leather, but a 22m version is available too, for the 45mm PO. Great for the price....get'em whilst they're hot!!! And, no, I'm not on commission! Just a happy customer.
  7. OOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo! Lurverly!!!! BTW where did you get the Ebel from?
  8. I have had a yearning for an Aerospace for quite some time. I have been told by a couple of dealers, when trying to order a rep version that the movements with the larger 'inverted' digital displays are no longer made, and they could not supply the watch shown on their sites. I had a common sense bypass a while back and ordered one anyway from 'another site'. You can read about it here Oh Dear! Anyway, I am right behind you in the queue if you ever find a source for an even half decent Aerospace rep. Just let me know where! BTW I still have it in the sock draw, never even worn it once. Go on make me an offer!
  9. A superb read. Thank you v much for taking the time to share your experience. Such images in my minds eye! Would like to walk that road myself.
  10. This really is superb. I bet you are over the moon with it. I am very envious! Congrats!
  11. The creation of the dial has defined stages after creating the graphics and printing the decals 1. Apply the white backing sheet to dial blank 2. Apply base tansfer decal 3. Apply dial decal 4. Trim edges of decals to fit dial blank 5. Apply 1st coat of lume to indices 6. Apply top coat of lume to indices 7. Spray dial with matt acrylic varnish 8. Cut out central opening for hands. Whole process takes about 4 days, as drying time for decals, lume, varnish etc. is very important. BTW..... I have one other dial, that I made at the same time as the dial reviewed by TeeJay. If there is any interest, I was thinking about putting it up for a RWG Fund Raiser Auction. All proceeds (less the cost of shipping) to the RWG fund. Any interest anyone?
  12. Great looking vintage effect. I love the sword shaped hands. They work really well. Congrats!
  13. TeeJay, thank you very much for such a positive review of my dial making attempts. It has been a pleasure to collaborate with someone with such a passion for this hobby of ours. Artwork inspiration was all down to you. I am seriously of the opinion that anyone with access to a vector drawing prog (such as autocad) and a 1200dpi laserjet can have a go at dial making themselves. The only serious bit is the luming, at which you will need some practice (using a loupe) prior to committing to the final dial. Here is a shot of the two I made TeeJay's dial is the one on the left (better 12 0'clock marker lume IMO). Thanks to all for the comments.
  14. What a great reference. I freaked when I saw the price of that 1655. Clearly not the collectable model back then that it is now. If only!!!
  15. I've been using a MB rollerball rep pen from narikaa for a couple of years now. It is my daily use pen, and sits on my desk at work. I have replaced the original refill (which didn't last long) with a Parker (several times now). Great feel to it, very heavy, a pleasure to write with. For the money, it's a no brainer!
  16. Great read offshore! What an experience you are having. I wish one day that I too could walk those streets and see those sights myself. Look forward to your next installment.
  17. Also never owned a PAM. Can't quite connect with this trend. (think I'm too old TBH)
  18. Got my 42.5mm PO on tonight. It is now on a black leather strap with white stitching. Looks better IMO.
  19. Wow! Damn right you should. Get out there, get wet and shoot some pics! No seriously, look after yourself! No good getting ill again! Great comp shots BTW. Great looking U2. Where's it from?
  20. Abso-bloody-lutely! It was like a daily forum soap.
  21. I remember. And IMO you are quite correct. It indeed had a positive effect. It's getting that hot blooded community participation back into the forum that's the issue here.
  22. I recall in previous years that there was a seasonal slow down on post count. As the days draw in toward winter (at least here in the northern hemisphere anyway) it seems to me that people start their posting habits once again. Economic hardship has been suffered accross the board membership it seems, that cannot be denied, and it re-focusses those affected by it to other more important things than rep watches. Don't get me wrong, I love this place, and feel at home reading and posting here (but could never be accused of being verbose I'm afraid). We may be bumping along the bottom of our own forum recession. Then of course, the only way is up. However, in an upbeat mood, this forum generates friendships. For my own part I am working in the background on a collaboration with a forum regular here to bring another 'DIY style' build project review to the forum. No this doesn't generate posts for posts sake, but does show me that the forum has a 'soul', and is still kicking hard. A LOT of work has been and will be going into this, with little cash spent. Necessity is the mother of invention after all. On a separate note, it was not so long ago that a certain young lady was limited to 15 posts per day (or somethong like that), as her posting habits were accused of clogging up this precious place. I was shocked by this at the time TBH. If you didn't want to read them, then simply don't. A funny situation we seem to be in now. No?
  23. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Yeaaaahhhhh
