Seen this many a time. I had one stuck like this for 5 days, and thought I was in for a bill but never got one. I reckon you're good to go! Charges are unlikely now, I would have thought.
Good luck with your chase TeeJay! I have had a bid or two on several dials from this seller (though not the sub dial). I have not yet been successful. I think I have snatched a bargain, but always get sniped right at the end! AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!
Keep on trying I guess!
Some superb shots of an enviable model, ubi.
@redwatch...go for it, and buy the best you can at this time. Knock yourself out, and have some fun with your project. After all, you can always upgrade the parts in the future. BTW I have bought hands from yuki, and their service was very reliable.
Well the title says it all. I have purchased generic spring bars, but they have flat ends, which can be seen through the lug holes, and are just not the same as the rounded ones. Don't fancy spending a fortune on originals, so who does the OEM versions. Thanks guys!
Hey TeeJay, awesome write up, well worth doing! I have always wanted to visit Japan myself. One day maybe.
Getting immersed in a completely different culture must be stimulating.
I hope you get to go back one day.
Great read
Just have a look at this...
ebay No. 190309008678 currently at $485-00.
Poor sap who has bid, is going to end up with a "SELF WINGDING" movement. Seller says dial is genuine!
Crown logo on caseback doesn't look good either, although worn, is just the wrong shape. Oh dear!
On the plus side, the movement looks interesting though.
I see what you mean. Close but not quite.
Some seem to have SMP hands......strange!
I have seen many posts on another forum about modding Seikos, and there is a cult following for this alone.
I can see why, there is so much choice, you can build a completely individual looking watch.
Great fun!
Great idea. I am wearing my Accutron now. It dates from 1971, and has the 218 movement in it. The sweep is as smooth as silk, and hums really loudly!
Keeps very good time. Difficult to think of an appropriate model to transplant the movement into, though.
I like the idea of grafting an Omega dial onto an Accutron movement, can't wait to see the pics of that. What case would you use?
Welcome, and congrats on finding your way here.
You will find plenty of information in the areas you seek.
Just use the search, and read, read and read some more
Not quite as risible as dildo jokes, but I picked up a tip from Pugwash a while back, to use post it notes to aid hand installation. Stick hand to gummy bit of post-it and use post-it as handle to assist placing hand onto movement.
Works at treat!
Auction was a big success. A big thank you to everyone who took part in support of this great forum.
Special credit to winner RoninQ for putting his hand in his pocket BIG TIME!
Thanks again guys!
@RoninQ.....please post some pics when you have applied the decals. Can't wait to see!
I had the same problem recently on a ETA 2836-2. Turned out a part of the keyless works had jumped out of position. My problem was acompanied by an inability to manually wind the watch as well though. Anyway, I removed the datewheel and following Baz's tutorial, corrected the problem. Runs fine now.
You are right. I blundered on posting and had to ask the Mods to fix it.
All up and running as it should be now. Feel free to make a bid, it is for a good cause!
