  1. OK guys, bear with me. Borrowed a cam and experimenting with my tools ATM. Gotta get my own camera, I guess. SSD today, as WM9 still has not delivered my Sea Dweller. Sorry, no wristie really. They're very hard to do. Val. (struggling).
  2. Hi Martin Ah shucks! Most of the veterans here have their safes stuffed full with gens and from time to time flash 'em in the Wristie Threads. It's like "nanana, bet you didn't know that I own this baby, did you?". Even Lani, who owns more reps than China ever produced (it's number four of the Seven Great Misteries of Rep World) has some gens. You do that and I promise we'll envy you accordingly. I'll take you by your word, Martin. And I appreciate that you answered once more. It would have been easy to be just silent. Do you have a pic of one of your gens? I'd love to get to know one of them. Take care. Val.
  3. Hi I find it very decent of you to bid as goodbye, most people simply fade away (old soldiers do, you know). But why leave just because of the change to gens? I'm on some gen forums too, they're fun but if I gotta know *why* my gen is truly great I mostly come here. People here appreciate the true value of a watch and of course (you sure have noticed) showing a gen here does not get you sneers but a heartfelt applause. I understand that one must not hold back travellers and it's of course up to you. But me, I'd be very happy if you came back from time to time not only to have a look but also to tell us about your adventures in gen land. Just my two cents I wish you all the best and if you really must: Farewell. Val.
  4. Thanks, J. He's really very cool. Val.
  5. That's the ultimate insult! +1 btw. Val.
  6. Guys, I'm a very new customer of Domenico's and I need to tell you that he delivered really outstanding service. I sent him a SSD I wrecked myself by clumsily trying to regulate it and ended up breaking it. Plus a PAM164 which had the 7750-notorious datewheel changing problem. He additionally lumed my SSD dial which was rather dull before. Great work! Domenico reacts as fast as lighting to my mails, he's extremely friendly and he's fixed my watches within 24 hours. I'm very very very happy to have found him here. Send your watches with confidence! Kind regards Val.
  7. Hmmm. I think with the economic crisis in US and Europe Rolex focused on Asian markets, where the design demands are less classic and more towards gold and diamonds. Here in Switzerland you don't really show off gold and bling, its considered posing. While when in Hong Kong last November it seemed to me everybody was quite proudly wearing their wealth and bling. Cultural differences I guess. So no wonder Rolex changes its design when focusing on Asia. Interestingly the big APs and Hublot are quite known in Asia while here in Switzerland they're not too popular. People I know all favour IWC and Omega. Kind regards Val.
  8. Hi I agree with your sentiment very much. I just can't get myself to like Hublot and APs at all. I know they're very popular so I'll only use nice wording I just don't understand their design. I came here for IWC originally, which I like very much pro 2002 phase. Some newer models grew on me after a while like 3717. I used to not like Rolex and PAMs, that changed rapidly on this forum! But with the two first mentioned brands I fear it will never make click. Val.
  9. What happened is I voted for deserved five stars and obviously somebody else did as well. You can do it too! Use your mouse to do the magic! Val.
  10. OK, seriously now. The Doxa site reflects the tool character of their watches quite well. Me, I'm a fool romantic. I like Jacquet-Droz, very playful and also reflecting the image of the brand very well. Whaddaya think? Val.
  11. Whoa, some watches here! I'm very honoured to be called to show my top five pieces here but it also makes me very nervous. My photo skills are terrible and my watch collection is still very humble. But I will try to get some help and make a few good pix this weekend, promised! On with the show, then! Val.
  12. What happy news! Amazing about those kids: Version 1 is always perfect already. Val.
  13. Lani and Ubi, thanks for showing those unbelievable beauties. I'm sitting here, forgetting about my breakfast muesli (I'm Swiss, remember) and staring in awe. You really made my day at six in the morning already. I love the Snowflake. No wonder it works magic! And I am still mesmerised by Lani's 1016, a watch that made me contemplate starting a project myself (not easy here, as you have to get parcels to and fro all the time, I guess ). Eagerly awaiting the next posts! hackR, you da man! Val.
  14. This is a very cool idea, hackR! I'd like to see TT's and Admin's top 5. Val.
  15. I prefer this model: Seriously though, the first model (diy) is quite creative. Although the second tool seems to be quite a charming little machine, isn't that too busy for your movements? Val.
  16. Noobmariner on Hirsch calf skin strap: Val.
  17. Cats, if you want to give it a try just send me a PM with your adress. I'll send you a can. It works best for me. Val.
  18. Terrible news. My thoughts are with her and your family. Wish you all the best. Val.
  19. Spectacular change, Deniz! Really cool! How'd you do this? Val.
  20. Wow! For a short but happy moment I thought this was a rep! Thanks for showing! Val.
  21. Ceramic sky calls for another time zone. Have a nice weekend all! Val.
  22. Fascinating work. And - as a plus - now we now who has the best sub. Val.
