  1. And from me too! I'll have a glass of wine on you! Val.
  2. Lani Vey well said, as usual. And though you don't want it to be about the numbers: Congratulation for your 10'000th post. I guess roughly 9'800 of those where aimed at helping a noob. Take care, we need you. Val.
  3. +1 I'm (alas) a lawyer in Switzerland and after reading the rules that exist here I'd say if you'd try to pull something like this off here customs would make certain you will regret it. Maybe this is different where you are. I don't understand why you don't simply order from a EU based dealer? Or if only Hont has the thing you want try to find somebody in UK who will forward the watch to you. Small favours like these can easily returned by sending a little present or something... Just my two cents. Val.
  4. These are beautiful. Gotta pump some weight, need to build a wrist for this! Val.
  5. Wow, Ronin, that's aweseome! I never found anything anymore since forum software update last summer! This works very well! Val.
  6. Uh. I don't know if I'm allowed to just start this one. But since it's almost 10 a.m. here I thought I might. I go with my 3717 today. Cheers Val.
  7. Hi Lukes I don't know the Swiss guy but you can get refurbished ones from a German seller called "leasing-union" on the bay. Just put him in the seller search. If you search for 7750 you will get additional sellers but for higher prices. Val.
  8. Hmmm. That sounds very interesting, Lani. I have got one swiss 7750 already but two watches in need of a swap (the other being a PAM 164 that doesn't get around changing the date anymore). Thanks very much for the hint! Kind regards Val.
  9. Ubi, you're really one of a kind. This is really a great offer. Let's discuss this in PM. Val.
  10. Hmmm. Yes, I thought of this. But I don't think I did this... ATM I'm trying to open the case again. Feel very stupid but I neither manage with a case opener nor with duct tape. I tried ice on the case back and putting penetrating oil on it. Quite at the end with my wits really. Val.
  11. Thanks very much for your kind answer, Ubi. I guess I'm gonna have to think about upgrading my hands and dial as well. I have never made a movement swap before and still have to set my first set of hands. So starting with modding the hands might be a bit hefty. Have a great Sunday. Val.
  12. Sorry for hijacking the thread somewhat, but what does "need to be modified" mean exactly? I have tried to search for a Howto but been to stupid (search does not seem to work for me anymore). I have a Gen ETA 7750 I'd like to transplant into my 3717. Do I have to be a master watch maker to do this? Thanks for any advice! Val.
  13. Thanks, Col. I'll try this. Just was afraid I could make things worse. Off duct tape balling again. Val.
  14. This beauty today. Sorry for the dust. Val.
  15. Hi guys My SSD has been running like a champ for almost two years but it's always been a little too fast (+30 sec/day). So I tried to regulate it and after a few slight turns on the regulation screw didn't do enough I turned it rather far into minus. Now it's a tad too slow (which I could regulate back again). But it also stops every 12 or so hours. Have I killed it by turning the screw too far? Can I fix this myself? Any hint is appreciated! Val.
  16. PAM 164 today: Cheers Val.
  17. Sorry to hear it, Deniz. I hope you can arrange something with Sead. Is there more wrong with the watch? It's just that I think it would be a lot easier if he gave you a reduction and you had it fixed by Domi. Dirty and carelessly installed crystal should take him a few minutes to fix. Just my two cents. Val.
  18. Very nice, Deniz! Wear it well! Val.
  19. Very very beautiful, O. Let me know when you get the gen. Wear it well! Val.
  20. That watch makes the animal thingy appear beautiful! Val.
  21. A tooth for an elephant's tooth, a human floormat for an elephant's ear. On a more serious side: The CITES rules started out as a good thing really. I mean, who in their right mind would want to buy croc leather from endangered wild animals. Problem is the procedure has turned out extremely complicated so that you simply can't import something made of exotic leather anymore as a private buyer. When I tried to import my strap I even produced a CITES certificate which proved that the strap was legally produced and exported from China. They told me that was not enough: I also had to get certs for the import into Canada (sellers state), the export out of Canada and the import into Switzerland where I was! Totally absurd! As I wasn't able to get the Canada certs, it was destroyed. A good idea turned totally sour. Val.
  22. Hi there I've never seen any of those in the online stores (but have never searched either). I got a fantastic Mulberry weekend longhorn last November while staying in Bangkok. Maybe one of our BKK residents could get you one. They sell them by the truck load in our famous MBK mall. Val.
  23. Hi Just came across this package, maybe somebody is interested? Lookie here! Gen band links, date or day wheels, crystals etc. for 900 Euro. Kind regards Val.
  24. Hi For Hong Kong gen vintage see this link here: http://www.deskdivers.com/Site/ShopsHK.html Kind regards Val.
