  1. If you thin out both date wheels, It will make the clearance worse, not better. Your taking away material...
  2. http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/125766-my-1675-cornino-finally-completed/page__p__911275__fromsearch__1#entry911275 Here is the first 1675 build with the Zodiac 75B (I believe)...the small gmt hand is gen spec, slightly broached to fit and the rest of the hands are ETA hands. You can't just glue the date wheel overlay to the Zodiac date wheel and call it a day, there needs to be some clearance as the date wheel overlay will rub on the movement plate and the date won't flip properly....I'll let you guys figure out the rest...I can't give away all my secrets!!!
  3. You have to do more than that my friend!
  4. My choice for a 5512 case would be a mbw case. IMO by far the best and cheapest for modding...that is if you can find one.
  5. You can use a gen spec date wheel for the project, but you will need to know someone that can modify the current date wheel to make it all work.
  6. Ronin...to clarify....the GMT hand is almost gen spec (needs a little broaching) and the other hands are in fact ETA based. But it is a PAIN to get parts for as it is a really rare movement. So unless you have already sunk money into a zodiac or a glutton for punishment, then go with something more modern with parts that are accessible.
  7. Whatever...you think what you think...I didn't provide a reasoning on my purchase...you're assuming everything...OP was asking for suggestions and I provided one... btw...you obviously haven't seen my Rolex collection....
  8. I got the ASUS Transformer ePad...love it. You can convert it into a mini-laptop also with the available keyboard.
  9. I believe that they should both be fine. Even if it is not a cal 75, it is a newer variant of it. The Zodiac movements are a true GMT movements an track just like a 1675. The date wheel even spins the same way. GL on the project!
  10. Wearing the pre-5514 today...
  11. It is a sub bezel, it's too sharp and should have more of a coin edge to it. That's too bad about the construction. The bezel teeth do look long...how about taking out the sharpness and machining the outside bezel edge just a bit to give it a more coin like edge?
  12. My "it's been sitting in my watch box for generations, I need to restore soon" vintage Benrus Ultra-Deep...
  13. Once again j, a great project as usual. I have a spare wso990 bezel, I don't know if it'll fit, but you are welcome to it to give it a try.
  14. J...what a great idea hold the case vertical without clamping the case in between the vise...minimizes damage.
  15. Great pics and write-up as usual M! Though not a big fan of straps on subs but that Tropic strap looks really good! M...I have cutting broaches and carefully work on the insert until it fits.
  16. Glad to see it is finally on your wrist! Enjoy my friend!!!
  17. W...seems that I'm always taking "Leaps" when it comes to DW pieces. This is why I have a 1st gen 7032 still sitting in my parts box! Maybe I shouldn't be an early adopter.... Great breakdown from you though. I'll tear her apart and shoot more pics!
  18. I currently have one PAM in my collection and it is a well modded 201a. I wanted to diversify my collection and decided that I would purchase another PAM. I did purchase a 288k, but decided it wasn't me and sold it off 2 days later. One day I ran into DW's sale thread of his 1:1 pre-v models and for sale...a 202a. Based on DW's pics, I decided to take a chance. Taking into consideration that I'm no PAM expert, I am quite happy with it, but I'll let the PAM experts decide. So on to the preview of the DW 202a Nice dial, definitely not as nice as a FGD, but really nice. No lume abilities though. The hands look very good too, but they will eventually be replaced with FGD hands that are currently in my parts box. The PVD finish is overall very good, quite smooth and is a charcoal-blackish color The CG's are beefy and the crown looks perfect for this pre-v model (I think???). The lug holes look about the correct size and in the right postion. I'm definitely impressed!!! Shot of the lug bars. Also PVD In between the lugs, there are elongated dimples at the bottom edge of the case...like the genuine and not as apparent as DSN 201a cases... And finally the case back. The engravings are deep, the "A" look pretty good as compared to a gen case back...but I forgot to get DW to engrave my serial number! I'm such a knuclehead Overall, I'm quite pleased with DW's effort and with a little bit of modding, this could be one nice 202a What are your thought guys?
  19. That is a 9420..Yuki build with gen crystal...
