  1. That does look good! The 600 crown tubes (old and new style) are 4.35mm and 3.0mm on the receiving side on the case, so unfortunately, the Ken crown will not fit on a gen tube...
  2. Hopefully that wasn't a recent E-Bay purchase that I lost out on...
  3. My thin cased 7924...revisited... Modified flat case-back as per gen...
  4. If you take a look at a gen bezel insert in real life, the insert fonts are white-ash (slight hint of grey/silver) colour and very thick and bold as compared to the cartel offerings... I've probably bought 5 (maybe more!) different versions of th DSSD from V2 onwards and all cartel bezel inserts are incorrect as the fonts and the markers are not thick enough. IMO...the first bezel insert looks like it has stronger markers and fonts (engraving is deeper), but the "4" in the 40 is slightly incorrect. I would personally keep the current one and do a paint mod on it.
  5. It just seems that buyers were screaming not too long ago for the noob Explorer II to be sold again, so they can use gen dials. The factories finally put out a 1:1 (to be seen), but they find the most obscure model to copy! Hopefully they come out with just a normal white dialed version...so my gen dial finally has a home!
  6. Saw this on Josh's site... http://www.1-pc8838.com/0repx10001-project-explorer-p-11581.html The case has some great potential. Compared to a gen 16570, the bezel is close to being perfect and if it a true 1:1, then it will fit a gen dial! The crown position isn't too bad, maybe a tad low. The dial looks good also, nice black surrounds on the indices. Too bad it comes in such a fugly color! I wonder how hard it would be to strip off the pvd coating...
  7. about $400 bones...it'll take a 2824...I think it is better than a WM9 (of which I had owned two, the LV and 16613, both V3) others will disagree. At this price point, there would be no reason to swap out your TW case, but if you wanted an alternative and wanted to buy a sub...the 1:1 case would make a great base for a franken project with a SA3135
  8. Something old with something new...
  9. I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately as my focus on my projects are concentrated mainly on Rolex. But I always had a passion for Breitlings and own a genuine B2 and a rare semi-perpetual Astromat. I particularily like the vintage TransOcean... But this model is very hard to find or very expensive to acquire. Maybe one day... So my focus on Breitlings are more the modern models. As some people may be aware, I've had my V3 Sklyand Blacksteel with a Swiss 7750 for sale. Unfortunately, no takers, maybe because it is a V3 or that the movement needed servicing. Oh well... But I liked the Blacksteel, the only thing that bothered me was the minor nuances of the V3 version, in that the "1"s are not quite correct and the chronopushers are too long. So I decided to embark on a franken Blacksteel project. First stop...vlydog's V2 Skyland case set with a DLC bath with a chief double A/R coated crystal. B...I hope you don't mind me reposting your sales pic. Next was to find a geniune dial and get the Swiss 7750 serviced...so off to scour the world of E-Bay and it was successful. Here is the finished product... When I received the case set from vlydog, my first impression was that the DLC coating was way too thick as compared to the gen or the cartel versions. The finish on the case set was also more matte, while a gen Blacksteel has a more of a polished-satin finish finish. A pic of a gen... So I proceed with "testing the limits" and determined how much abuse the DLC could handle. I proceeded to polish the case, to get that gen-like finish. I must say, that I'm quite impressed with the DLC, for I had no problems power polishing the case. The DLC is stellar as compared to the cartel DLC finish which scratched quite easily. I would definite not put a stock rep case through a power polish, because you just might end up with a stainless steel...Blacksteel... As for a gen dial...for a good franken project...you need it. Even though the cartel dial is very good in itself, the rep dial is stamped and as a result, there is distortion around the hour indexes... The hour indexes on the gen dial is very clean, no distortion whatsoever, because the gen dial is not stamped... In addition and going back to my introduction pic, the rep subdials serrations are not as pronounced as a gen. Notice the minute sub-dial and the pronounced detail at average room lighting. ...and the Chief double A/R crystal just makes the dial pop! I was also suprised at how close the V3 hand color matches the red "Automatic" on the gen dial! So the final specs: DLC'd V2 Skyland case set (thanks once again B!) Gen Breitling dial with rep tach ring Chief double A/R crystal V2 Blacksteel case back. Genuine Swiss 7750 Modified V3 A7750 hands The only thing I need to do is to relume the pearl and this is where I could use other members assistance. It seems that there is a small piece of glass covering the pearl. Can any tell me how I can remove it without damaging it? Thanks for looking everyone!
  10. For the 60's...s/b a twin lock tube for a 5.3 mm crown.
  11. ahh fook Pete...sorry dude...you were just jesting!!!
  12. So Pete...if this is the case...should somone beat you senseless with a belt for buying fake watches? I think the bigger issue is does the crime fit the punishment as it relates to the age of the individuals. Due to the intented action, there is a point where the action stops being a punishment and actually steps over the border to being abuse; especially if that particular individual has a set precedence as being abusive.
  13. I couldn't watch all of it either...it is way too disturbing...that piece of sh*t has no value for human life and he is the the guy that decides the fate of individuals in court? Was he too dumb to realize that with her condition, the beatings could kill her? The punishment that the pr*ck "served" on her daughter is a blatent disregard for life. It sounds bad, but I'm so glad that he is living in fear right now...fear of his job, his life, his humanity. Now if only the daughter would only sue him... Karma is a mofo when it catches up to you...
  14. It was nice meeting you M! Love it on that strap! Now all you have to do is age the case a bit...
  15. Excellent! Thanks for the info! The seller also has a lot of vintage Breiting replacement parts also! Time to finish off my project!
  16. bahahahahaha! Ask the guy for a discount and then make a 1019 out of it!
  17. Nice collection Red! But I didn't Noah Fuller passed away! Crap! I bought a few parts from the guy when he started out on e-bay!
  18. Thanks for the mini-review D. Doesn't sound like it is a true 1:1...disappointing...
  19. Today is probably a good day to also take in the Banff Hot Springs!!!
  20. It looks like your in the rockies now M! See you when you hit cow town next week!
  21. Yeah! It is a different look for a sub and goes against the grain, but it works because the Jube is so wide!
