Breitling Navi slide rule outer ring and crystal question
hackR posted a topic in The Breitling Area
i am planning to take the crystal out of the handwind version of the Chrono-matic so i can get it ar'd...the slide rule outer ring looks to be pressed into the inside of the crystal...not really sure...i need to remove this ring and wanted to know if anyone knows how this is assembled - so i can disassemble... i'm thinking the Navi and other breits with a slide rule bezel are built the same...so if you have ever assembled/disassembled a Navi, etc, please let me know... thanks...R -
sounds like the outer ar is indeed scratched...oh well... i have a skyland that i just picked up that has the same issue...i'm thinking of stripping the outer ar and just seeing what it looks like...obviously not ideal, but the scuffed ar bugs me... good luck with it... R

Some finedd / Cauwe AR work on a gen brietling
hackR replied to FxrAndy's topic in General Discussion
looks sharp, Andy... what year is your aerospace?... today - i'm wearing my ti/gold 2002...came from Floyd... -
to me, the question is not which value watch would i be comfortable wearing, but rather which value watch would i be comfortable buying... in my profession anyone knowing watches wouldn't be surprised with me wearing a $5,000-$7,000 watch... but i've said this before - anyone knowing watches would be more "surprised" by the number of high value watches (mostly reps and a few assorted gens) than a single watch...ie, wearing a $5,000 breitling rep one day, a $6,000 panerai another day, etc, etc... geez, just the total rep value is staggering, ya know?!...

Review: 111J from Noob factory vs 177L from Hublot maker
hackR replied to babola's topic in The Panerai Area
hey D... out of curiousity, how does one know if a rep comes from the Noob factory or the Hublot maker?...i've always marveled that you guys know the factory/maker, but never asked how you knew it... -
my 000 was lumed by Rob - the tritec white paint and the A+ lume is simply amazing... wear it well...
-
@JC --> i deserve it...this is exactly the reason to always have the right tool and materials on hand...pm sent... @Others --> curious...is your caseback seated right on your 177L?...no need to unscrew it...just check the lip of the caseback on the case...after repeated attempt to align it manually, mine seems to always screw on misaligned...wondering if others have experienced this or see a mislignment... R-

@JC --> you we're on my pm list for 2nite...i shot this out quickly because the issue isn't so much the tool, but rather the friction/tension/whatever that is in play between the caseback and the case...i don't want to screw up the piece and thought a lube of some sorts would assist the process...most of my 6497s screw on/off with the sticky ball i got from Narikaa on one of my first purchases... @others --> thanks!... the titanium is tough and i don't want to mess up the threads anymore than they are...what i don't know is whether the caseback was just screwed on cockeyed from the start...was tough to open but it came off...i'm thinking it wasn't seated right in the first place...argh...

love my new 177L... but - noticed one of the blue movement screws was almost completely out of the movement...so i opened up the caseback to screw it back down...i always start with my sticky ball and then move to caseback openers...well - the sticky ball wouldn't do it...which surprised me...i was able to get it off with one of my caseback tools (unfortunately i do not have a panerai caseback tool - just the claw type)...but it sure took a lot of torque and you could feel it was tight... sooooo...since the threads are slightly out of whack, tightening it is a bear...is there a simple'ish fix to screwing it back down...the titanium is hard, so i don't think a lot of torque is going to do it...and right now, i seem to always get it started askew...re-threading is out...is there a graphite or other lubricate that might help the threads?...something that obviously wouldn't hurt the movement?... thanks...R

Sweet... Now...put it on your opposite wrist....spin yourself 6 times counter clockwise, and then hop 5 times on one foot while chanting "i love RWG"...

i needed to post my BS next to Mike's BS... v2, modded - Z relume, hands painted to match rehaut...decorated rotor...
-
+1...totally agree...decorated or not, there's plenty of reasons - as stated above - to open it up for a look...most of the reps' casebacks are easy to get off with a wad of sticky tape...worth checking it out quickly...

reminds me too much of the Doctor...and the number of titanium pams i've missed out on...just saying... -
i agree with Chief -- and the others that agreed with Chief... there's just too many facets to this community...the list of folks that have shown support to others - horologically and human interest - is just too large...that's what makes this place "work"...we share ideas, parts, reviews, friendship, caring, fun and porn...( sorry - had to get the porn in there in support of Hike) many of you have become "friends" on and off the forum...and countless others lead by example with support and advice to newbs and seniors alike... this was a terrific year...but how can we not recognize the work by T, who led us thru the upgrade and all the other "fires" he's had to deal with to provide the back that carries us all... to my knowledge, no...or if it was, not to the level of our current reps... check out the sticky breitling community rep guide...it's not in there... R-

hey Wimpster... looks great...wear it well...love this model... you should hunt down a 4mm thick black strap with yellow stitching, too... say - have you checked out the movement?...just wondering if its decorated or not...i assume this is manufactured by the same factory that makes the v3 skyland... Review: 111J from Noob factory vs 177L from Hublot maker
hackR replied to babola's topic in The Panerai Area
hey D...terrific review...very well done...in all aspects...final piece looks great... questions: is the ar on both crystals double or single ar coated?...especially interested in knowing if the 111 crystal would benefit from stripping off one or both sides of the blue hue ar...both also look to be 3.5mm thick, right?... thanks for taking the time to do this compare... R- -
hmmmm... is the crystal on the 111J and the 177L the same?... i received my 177L and no complaints whatsoever...i find the crystal to be pretty good...very seriously impressed with the 177L...ok, so its not repliamaniacally perfect, but it sure is damn close...definitely passing for gen to anyone other than well-informed rep freaks or eagle-eyed Ristis...

here's some smoke for ya... franken swiss steelfish...

I posted a thanks to T for his hard work...and agree he's heroic in his support of RWG... I want to also thank, Floyd...He reached out to a bunch of us thru email and it became a fun email thread that kept up the comaraderie thru this episode... ...here's to the cherry on top...
-
thanks, T!...yikes...a fire?!... nice to be back - HEY EVERYONE!... R-

a little New Year's humor...

my two cents... i like the curved tail but prefer stitching all the way around the edge... not so sure on the peekaboo look, tho....my first thought was that this would be something Mike would wear...so that should say enough...
-
+1... also ---- between customs and the usual risk of handling this could be a tough on reps...but as Andy mentions, a lot has to do with the friendships/relationships one forms here... Hike had this idea once, too...
