  1. Awesome FGD collection... nice tribute to his dials Excellent job on the 002 cg!
  2. Hats off to you my friend... this watch would not have been possible without your hands and dial, period!!! You've made A LOT of Panerai project owners very happy with your efforts!!! On behalf of our Community... I thank you!
  3. Thanks! Gen cg, crown, case, bezel and xtal all sourced from 3 different models.
  4. Gen contemporary close-up for ref. ... Some gen Vintage for ref. ... holder in first pic wasn't a perfect fit for the dial, so it makes the rr track look out-of-true, which it's not.
  5. I first posted this project back in March, then sold the watch and now it's back (not that unusual in our tight community ). In the meantime I had acquired FGD's awesome Pre-V hands, so when I got the 201a back, they immediately got installed. Next was a little reshape around the lug tips and just a little above them. Still to be decided is removing the AR and drilling out the lugs for the correct dbl. screw system. A couple of quick snaps that show the new hands a little better (kudos to FGD for making such well-spec'd hands, the install was effortless )
  6. Just installed FGD's fantastic Pre-V hands in this one and wearing it today...
  7. I was visiting a good friend this weekend. He wanted me to see his latest project in-progress. The 40B project he just started. So far, AR was removed from the mineral xtal, cg pin flattened and FGD dial and hands installed. Still ahead... Sapphire xtal, T crown and a solid caseback. Case set is from Trusty several years ago. Wish we could still get cg's that look like that. Quick and dirty pics for now.
  8. Beautiful attention to all of the little details ... well done
  9. Here you go... T-39 in profile. Quite a few more at the link I posted.
  10. I purchased this project last year and sold it to a close friend a few months later. The understanding was as soon as he needed some cash, I could buy it back. I like it when a watch this so well-built can be shared with others. Rolex offered the 1680 with a choice of either a T39 or T127 plexi, I opted for the T39 sans cyclops. This one came with both One of the best 1680 Single Red ref. posts... lots of great photos... http://rolex.watchpr...post/ti-481641/ A couple of pics of a 70's era watch with a pair of shades from the same decade. My wife collects vintage shoes... I collect vintage sunglasses Zigmeister relume and pearl.
  11. Awesome... all of the little details are there. Your parts look great
  12. I might consider a trade as long as it's the original NOS Tropic that came in a tube. They're a little thicker in the cross-section (same outer dimension) compared to the service version that comes in the packaging as seen in the attached pic. These aren't quite as nice, but have unfortunately flooded the market.
  13. Thank you Simon (and everyone else)... I appreciate the nice words. Now the big question is, when are you going to take on Vintage era Panerai dials? Ross is no longer making them
  14. Glad to see you finally posted this beautiful watch here at RWG!!! This is THE ONE that inspired me to keep working on finishing mine. Attention to ALL of the little details add up to a bench mark 6152/1. That strap is the icing on the cake. Congratulations on a job well done
  15. I still need to cut the cg pin to the right length and finish the dial. Also need to decide which case back to go with. Lots of metal came off the sides, the top surface (from the bezel edge to the outer case edge). Especially needed to lower the top case edge over the lugs. Lug tips were originally too angled, so that was corrected. I wanted to also polish it out, leaving plenty of minor dings and scratches visible upon close inspection. I also wanted to give the edges a slightly softer look, more in some areas than others... the bottom line was to keep any aging subtle. CG was rebrushed and edges polished per gen. NOS Tropic... more pics of that when the project is completed. Update... next pics show a little more fine-tuning of the non-CG side and where I need further refinement (correct contour outlined in red) on the CG side.
  16. That is THE perfect strap and buckle for your 28. End of story.
  17. Don't forget the caseback.
  18. And I have you to thank for guiding me in the right direction to get that project going and bring it to completion. Thank you!
  19. I bet it was one sweet moment when this arrived and you opened the package. Congratulations my friend!
  20. EXACTLY!!! This is what happened to me just as I went into the final stage just before giving the OK to go ahead with the prototype/sample. Kruzer knows all too well of my 6 month odyessey trying to have the perfect A-F series cg manfactured. The company I finally selected here in SoCal is housed in a 3 story building with security guards and over 100 employees. They started asking about the design/origination and ultimate use. The rest is history. Kruzer has his gen cg back in-hand.
  21. Some of the nicest Rolex ever to grace a forum
