Removing movements / chrono's to remove crystal
marrickvilleboy replied to lanikai's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Lanikai, a few things to note. Generally in all modern watches, the crystal can only be removed from the inside of the watch. Which means you will need to remove the movement first and then use a crystal press to remove the crystal. As for movements, the 7750 movement requires the pressing of the stem release when removing and re-inserting the stem. The pushers are not connected to the movement so the procedure is not too complicated but many often mess up the keyless works when removing the stem so always pay extra attention to that. As for storing the movement, I normally place it in small plastic pouches or in fixed containers. Hope this helps. -

Freddy: As much as I think that you have provided a great help, the removal of the dial, hands, datewheel, covering plate is very complicated for a person who do not know much about movements. I hope your picture does not entice him to perfom this procedure himself as I can see disaster coming. -

when removing the the stem and re-inserting the stem, you need to hold down the release button. You most likely messed up the keyless works so now the stem will not actually stay in place - a trip to the local watchsmith, do NOT try to reassemble the keyless works on the dial side, you will definitely mess it up. Good luck. -
Does anyone have information about this Tag Heuer?
marrickvilleboy replied to Scirocco's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
Well you just answered your own question haven't you? btw....alot of rep sellers have fantasy watches on their websites. Look around and you shall find. -
If it is a standard ETA 2824 in your IWC, then he should be able to exchange the datewheel of the old to the new. This should be a VERY straight forward procedure for any watchsmith. So the low down: 1. Either take off the overlay and glue to the new 2824 movement - aligning it properly or 2. Exchange the whole datewheel fromt he existing 2824 (with the overlay still on top) and swap it with the new movement. If he can't do that...well...he prolly shouldn't be sitting in that shop.

The IWC Ingy has a datewheel overlay on the 2824/2836 movement. The dial and date window are slightly wider than the 2824/2836 movement so the overlay is required. The watchsmith should be able to glue the overlay on top of the existing datewheel to make it align properly.

Interesting thing is that the 42mm PO never reached the "UPO" level. Therefore the bezel insert must have been taken from the UPO bezel insert. This explains the nice dial, no Omega logo "feet" issues. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I have to admit, these Omega POs are very very accurate to the genuine article. Somewhat scary if you ask me.

SMP is genuine. The PO is a rep

Omega Railmaster 39,2 mm - Pictorial and review.
marrickvilleboy replied to Stephane's topic in The Omega Area
Great post! They actually had this watch before with serial number on the lug and used a copy 2892 movement with "Omega 2500" marked on it. I guess they must have stopped production. -
genuine watch..pictures of it anyway. Yet to see a PO with serial number etched ending with 1. I have the same suspicion as By-tor though.....

interestingly enough.....I think the replica guys have made that kind of watch by mistake....before....haha

I will agree that one of the biggest issues with China is its treatment of humanity in general. The late 80's Tiananmen Massacre was a very good example. A somewhat peaceful protest by university students led to the death of over 100 of them, some of them being run over by tanks. Perhaps other nations would have used pressure hoses, or rubber bullets, or police barrage instead that day....god knows who gave tham the order to kill.... While I am strongly against China's inhumane acts, I don't believe boycotting the olympics is going to help. I believe, however, that exposing them to world culture will benefit the society and they may just be able to see a glimpse of a society that does respect humanity and may one day reflect on it themselves....knowledge and experience is everything guys....don't take that away from them....not many of them understand that there is a society outside China, this is a good chance for them to see.... Changing a tradition and attitude that stems from over 5000 years of history is not going to happen overnight....but its getting better...lets hope its even better.

Strange, just noticed that the 6 o clock subdial is day of the week!.....wtf.... I would have that watch opened up and inspected. The G10 that i've come to know is chronograph and date at either 4 or 6 oclock, with running seconds at 6 oclock, 10 o clock is running hour and 2 o clock is 1/10th seconds count. The minute counter and seconds counter are on the central pinion. maybe they changed it. The G10 i'm talking about is the G10211.

Guys: While I am strongly against eating dogs, we have to remember that they are animals and while it is widely conventional to regard dogs as domestic animals, it is not convention to some of the Asia population. This comes down from generation to generation of tradition and culture. If i'm offered dog meat, I simply just decline politely. Killing animals for food is part of human nature, so they eat a different kind of meat that we're not use to, that doesn't mean that they are evil and wrong. In particular at the comment of boycotting the olympics....you got to be kidding me....so Spanish tradition of bullfighting is right and ethical then? Just be open minded to different culture and people. You saying that its a Global issue then directly criticize only China is a bias that you may want to reconsider. Maybe if you stop giving them your money for replica watches, they won't have money to play these "sheep into the lion den" games. Consider that every action has a consequence, perhaps you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.....

G10s have dates at 6 or at 4 o clock. Nothing special there. It is very standard. I'm sure that you change the date through the moving of the hour hand (in hourly increments)....no quickset.

Need help with my 12:00 marker....
marrickvilleboy replied to Nightstroker's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
The keyless works is practically the same amongst the 2836's. Before venturing into doing a DIY, you really ought to read some of the handy topics on how to dismantle a watch. One of which I have being trying to stress is to always have the stem in the winding position before releasing it and always use a 1.0 or larger screwdriver. Anyhow, sorry that i'm come to late to this party to offer help but putting the keyless works together is not a hard job and most of us will be willing to do it for you. However, you may want to wait for a new dial before assembling it. Good luck and safety first always. -
ahhhh the G10 movement. Its essentially the budget movement for the 251.272 chronograph movements we often see in TAG Heuer watches. It does not have the 20 something jewels that the 251 has (it has 4) but it is swiss made and reliable. Good choice. Wear it well!

I hate to admit assasi9....but it appears like you did =) but i really wonder what happened to those watches....like you don't just have them.....then you suddenly don't. maybe they wil reappear again.
