The original early 16610 subs- R and L serial- had DWs with the open 6s and 9s. My gen R-serial has the original DW- this watch is circa 1988. A few years ago- 5-6yrs ago, someone was selling a cache of early DWs- NOS- with the open 6s and 9s, but those are long gone. You could try a WTB on VRF- maybe someone has one lying around.

WSO/ewatchparts has a long history of selling crap. The only thing I buy from them are their 7030 submariner tubes. He'll generally take back stuff if it doesn't fit. But I avoid him for the most part- try Clark's Watch Parts instead There's a reason Freddy calls him Mr. Slimeball!

I think the PT 1665 GWSD is a decent rep. Don't mess with the crystal and bezel. If you do, you'll probably have to end up getting a gen like bezel assembly. Trim the cgs, maybe put a gen crown on there and then just age it. Like WW12345, putting a better dial in there is also a good mod to make. Pluses are the 2846-2 movement (which you might have to service) 93150 bracelet with 580 ends (the crown emblem on the clasp ain't great) Lugholes are close to gen spec bezel insert is decent- better than MBW DWO is good also- flat top 3s and open 6/9s.

For $250 it's decent. Probably has an asian 2671 or whatever the small eta clone is. Certainly the swiss etas are better, but they're just not around anymore.

6536 service dial that's been relumed. Since it's marked Beyeler on the back, it dates from the late 70s, early 80s.

2006! That means you could be due for a service. I always figure a service when I buy a gen Rolex that's been used for however long. It would be a good idea to ask the seller if he knows anything about the service history. If it's running COSC, you may not have to get it serviced right away. But the watch looks good! Congrats!

ETA movements are a challenge these days. If you find one on ebay, it will probably require a service and by the time all's said and done, you'll probably have $200 in it. Buying a Josh or Andrew 5513/4 with a 2846-2 and gen bezel assembly might be cheaper in the long run. Bezel-wise, I prefer to buy from Clark's over WSO, but either way, you may have to do some sanding to make parts fit and work properly.

And the SD crystal isn't a 295, it's a 286, slightly smaller OD

I think the case looks fine- if you can swap in a gen bezel assembly, all the better. The Athaya 702 crown and tube would be great. this would be a great mid range build w// a 2846-2!

If that Josh case has gen-like bezel assembly with the crystal retention ring and snap on bezel, you're in good shape. crown guards might be a tad stubby, but i saw where Rolex Addict straightened up the insides, slimmed down the outsides and then drilled the tube hole a little deeper- ended up looking ok. Your lugholes can be drilled to 1.2mm or whatever it is- i use the #55 drill bit from Snap-On tools A new pearl in the bezel insert and you're looking good. A gen crown and tube also, of course

C is Cyclops CAR is cyclops anti-reflective C1 is cyclops with the #1 gasket- for DJs, etc. C2 is the #2 gasket for a 16610 sub I don't know what C12 is, but like you say, if it's for a 116610, it would be another type of gasket.

Sure, it's possible. But you get the PT for $288 + $20 s&h. Then you send it to RA and spend another $500 maybe! Or more. Best to check w/ RA and see what it's going to cost. Maybe you could thin the case and bezel, relume the dial and trim the cgs for $200-250- it would stil be a nice watch and no one will know it's a rep anyway!

A V726 would be more appropriate for a 6263/6265 build since those had the higher beat 21600 movement like that of the 727. The Rolex 727 and the V726 are from the later production era of the Valjoux movements.. 6239s had the V72 and V722 which were still 18,000 bph. But dial feet are compatible for all of the V72s and later models. A correct 6239 dial won't have the word "Oyster" on the dial. Check out jewelryandwatch.com, and NDTradingcorp, But good 6239 dials are hard to come by these days.

What model of watch do you have? Ebay is the place to find the Rolex gaskets, or you can get them from watch supply stores.

Your best bet with the PT 5514 is to trim the crown guards and enjoy the watch. You could age the dial or put a new one in there if you feel like spending the money. You're not going to be able to do much with the thick case except age it also But it's not a bad rep for the price- and it's got the 2846 in there which is a good movement (but it might need to be serviced). It's a good place to start.

Being from '89, it has to be a 703 crown- but it is a tall one- much nicer than the new 'squatty' 703s and 4s.

Cool, with those lugholes it's one of those early 2000s subs- SEL bracelet and still has lugholes- ended with the P serial- 2003 when the 16610 T case came out without lugholes.

If you want a gold Daytona, it's worth a try. We all know Josh's pics aren't that good so hopefully the watch looks better in person.
