  1. Are you the Greek George from near Athenai that knows TigerDaytona? I was there in May 2007 for the Champions League Final...
  2. I thought it was ok... if you like those ones where they have a set up and then get a payoff. Say like The Sting, or the TV series Hustle (it's a UK series but I know it got picked up by someone like HBO).
  3. Unless the prop department made their own! Or more likely a dummy was supplied by IWC. What did you think of the movie? I liked it... thought it could have been a lot better though, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
  4. Reviving this wonderful review... How is the seconds at 6 working now you've had it quite a while? Still enjoying this lovely watch ?
  5. Yellomen, it's been around 9 months since you had the graphite treatment... how is that specific layout on the Ingenieur Chrono holding up? And how was it before the treatment? I hope it's good news!
  6. These are great looking watches, and from what I remember, quite accurate. Did the seconds at 6 ever improve in reliability that it became a good product to purchase? Or did it remain a POS?
  7. I use my Blackberry Bold (great speakers for a phone, and loud) with 16gb memory card and 1gb onboard, or Nokia N82 (with 16gb card) to playback mp3s. I prefer to have something all in one, and the Blackberry Bold does everything I wanted that the iPhone couldn't do, including DivX/XviD playback. The Bold syncs with iTunes but I prefer simple drag and drop onto the hot-swappable memory card or connected via USB cable. There is one phone brand that is using Bang & Olufsen for their audio, but I'm not sure if that's just a marketing gimmick. I had a Sony Walkman phone which was fine with that too, but had a proprietary interface for the headphones which I didn't like. My sister did a dissertation for her Masters in Marketing/Economics and it was about Apple and the iPod, and her conclusion was it was style over substance and overpriced. She got a different brand mp3 player, but I'm not sure which. First you have to decide on what kind of device you want... if you want the "cool" device, just go with iPod/iPhone. If you want to be able to do more, than there are many other devices out there. There are review sites like cnet to check out as well.
  8. There used to be a few, like the Franck Muller Casablanca in solid 18k gold, as well as the SS Conquistadors (same brand) at a much more affordable price. There were supposed to be ETA 2892s in some of the Bond Omega SMP's but it was discovered later they were Seagull copies. There were some PAM reps with the 2892 movements. These were the 027 and 028 with Power Reserve modules, as per the genuine and were the super reps back then. Not cheap. I think the 029 and 063 had 2893 GMT movements, which may well be modified 2892 movements, but I can't remember offhand. Searches will probably reveal the truth. The MBW AP ROOs with genuine movement used the ETA 2892 as a base with a Dubois Dupraz chrono module, as per the genuine. These were expensive too, but the best version of the seconds at 12 you could get. Even with the genuine watch, this is a delicate movement, and servicing is awkward, so AP just throw away the old movement and install a brand new one, so I wasn't sure if it was worth paying to get this! When the B&Rs came out they were supposed to have genuine ETA 2892s but this was found to be a lie (check the white lies thread, I think started by Pugwash) and not even a more-or-less reliable Seagull copy was used, but an even lower quality movement. Apart from those, I can't think of any... I haven't kept up with developments since around last October or so...
  9. Which George? EU George? I haven't heard from him since 2007 though. Great guy!
  10. They can mark up the prices on the chronos a lot more. Seeing as they've phased out ETA chrono movements (and if there are any with those, they are at very high prices) until the Asian 7750 copy movement is now the norm. Over time, they've bumped up the prices on even the A7750c movement-based watches. I remember some HBBs going for 1k at one point! (note: the only Swiss ETA based HBB, as far as I know, is a painstakingly modified version of Kruzer's). The standard 3 hand watch doesn't get to a high price and genuine ETAs can be used. They just don't have as big a profit margin on these, unless they can find some excuse (eg. Big Bang King).
  11. the World Health Organisation is definitely NOT MBW. MBW = The Stig!
  12. Why go for a potential dead movement? Human nature is to want more more more, bigger house, better car, better looking wife, bigger TV etc etc People will take short-cuts to appear to have more... body kit on cars, watches, etc etc.
  13. While this may be a flawless rep, the best quality replica watch ever made was the solid 18k gold FM Casablanca
  14. 904 has more nickel which is not good for those with nickel allergies...
  15. I emailed Joshua and he said they are out of stock and not likely to be sold at this price again...
  16. It was Watchonpo, who, as far as I know, is still a dealer, but off these boards and localized in Japan and the Far East. If you have contacts there, preferably someone who speaks Japanese, you may have some luck with him. I'm just surprised that all our regular dealers never picked this one up.
  17. For this particular model (2005 edition), the genuine has a closed case back with the engraving as in the pictures in the first post. If you've found a rep with a crystal back, then it is not accurate to this particular watch, in which case, it is your choice if you are ok with that "flaw".
  18. Is it possible to use, say, the rep rubber strap with the titanium RB2? Or one of the other rep straps out like the hornbacks... or standard straps from other companies?
  19. I went for the red oldies... not really a ralex kinda guy anymore ... but that's what got me into reps! Though I wouldn't mind an Ubiquitous El Primero Daytona Hmmm I'd almost forgotten I still have a genuine movement, as well as a genuine V72... I really should get to work on them someday!
  20. Should be a closed back as all of this model would be.
