  1. No it was based on paying lower taxes... just like the patriotic German Michael Schumacher etc...
  2. I didn't know it was back already! will have to get hold of them or go on iplayer Thanks for the info Pug
  3. You mean half his roots? His mother is English as far as I know. Besides, if you are born and raised in England, you are English.... Don't tell me, Sylvester Stallone is an Italian actor? Andre Agassi is an Iranian tennis player? Muhammad Ali an African boxer?
  4. Yep ... It's all come too easy for him, that doesn't endear him to everyone, and it seems his fellow drivers too. He's going out with the singer from the Pussycat Dolls. And you're right, he appears to be the first manufactured F1 driver... but that couldn't happen without having the ability.
  5. I think that's true. I was winding up a friend last year when Hamilton moved saying it was just for money... but his blind loyalty always leads him to defend him saying it was for privacy... yeah right! By the way that guy is a man ure fan, 'nuff said
  6. At long last I was kicked off the TV halfway through the race, couldn't get the other TV to work, and managed to see the rest live on ITV's website. The pictures were clear and with no lag, so I gotta give them credit for that... and no adverts too
  7. Sadly it has been for a while And a dearth of great drivers during the Schumacher years (possibly excepting Hakkinen and then Alonso his only true competition)... we now have a bunch of top drivers, which is probably why it'll be harder for Hamilton (1 championship) or Alonso (2 championships) to get to Schumacher's 7 titles. They'll still be regarded as greats if they win a few more, Alonso may already be for beating off Schumacher in a weaker car. Senna is still seen as greater than Schumacher despite winning less... Fangio is just a legend that is seen as the greatest of all time. Both won less... Greatness is not always statistics, it's also the competition you defeat.
  8. The wings will be drastically reduced too... http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2008/09/18/2009...ear-wings-tiny/ Here's an artist's impression: http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=f2009visualxh4.jpg
  9. According to Nico Rosberg they are: http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news...029093435.shtml I can't find the link right now for all the changes, but it's the most drastic that's been done in ages... Schumacher definitely didn't have anything like this to put up with. It's going to shake up everything, everyone may be starting from scratch again!
  10. Next season will be really interesting... I think Alonso scored the most points in the 2nd half or last 3rd of the season in a worse car than the Ferraris and McLarens - he has a knack of improving the car he drives. Remember how he beat Schumacher 2 years running in a worse car that got even worse once he left. Robert Kubica also looks very good. Put him in a good car and I think he could provide some great competition. Vettel looks like he could do something too, and of course champion Hamilton, Massa and a hopefully bothered Raikkonen will make things all interesting. I think Alonso is the best with Hamilton next up but Kubica looks like he could really be great. With all the drastic rule changes and only Ferrari consistently producing the best car, it's hard to say what will happen next year though. Alonso has that big plus that he is Schumacher-like in improving his team's car quite a lot though. Gonna be interesting
  11. It gets even more outlandish - you won't be able to re-sell your Motorola Aura to anyone but Motorola to keep it's exclusivity... http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_aura_to_s...is-news-658.php
  12. Same for me... I think it's how the media force feeds him to us here in the UK and the way they demonize Alonso (who I like). It's not Hamilton's fault though... whenever I hear him talk he sounds so humble and lucky to be in such a position in a great car. And to know where he came from, the hard work his father put in, it is a heart-warming tale, but as the Hamilton family say themselves, it is a story of hard work and the rewards that can get. I've noticed that the family keep saying "we've" been successful and there is something in that.
  13. Arrogance was Schumacher in recent years... Hamilton comes over nothing like that... Now Hakkinen, he was the nice guy
  14. I don't think the booing was racism against Hamilton in that way, more that victory appeared to be taken away from their countryman... at least I hope that's what it was. Hamilton was a deserved winner in the best car. I think if he'd lost, he would have got the "choker" label so he had to win this time. Last year was a rookie season, he wasn't expected to win. Next season should be great, hopefully Kubica and Vettel will show that they are top drivers and have cars that can help them compete. I didn't really rate Massa as highly but he has shown consistent improvement. For me Alonso in a car equal to the top cars would really spice things up, he's one of the best if not the best. Great performance from him today. Hopefully the Finns will be back next year and highly motivated !
  15. I think people notice what they like, I like a few other sports too, golf, tennis, gridiron, basketball (the sport I was actually good at!), formula 1 (if motor sport counts), boxing, MMA, wrestling entertainment (if that counts and not just one "brand", I like the Japanese stuff too), ice hockey, field hockey (if I get to watch the Dutch ladies team ), even the odd baseball game have I watched. I like playing squash too. There's a lot but football is usually my number one but with most sports, I prefer to play than watch.
  16. You didn't specify a wristwatch, so I'll say that I have an Acctim clock with a sweeping seconds hand. I've posted somewhere (probably with links). Only cost around 10 GBP too ! Apparently doctor's surgeries require these as some patients can get irritated by the ticking of a clock. At least that's what the supplies manager at the hospital said.
  17. I'm hoping for Hublot trash bags... and Hublot bags for dog turds
  18. They also spend huge amounts... they have the record transfers ... they spent close to GBP33 million to sign one forward this summer (and that figure doesn't include wages). They're talking about spending another GBP30 million on a guy they have leased at the moment, and he's just on the bench (ie. isn't playing that much... good player that he is). They have the most expensive forward line in history I think: (all figures in GBP and do not include wages) Berbatov - around 33 million Rooney (looks like Shrek) - around 30 million Tevez (looks like Muttley from Wacky Races) - potentially 30 million (if they complete the transfer) C.Ronaldo - 13.75 million (he's been there a few years now and fulfilled his early potential) Nani - around 20 million bear in mind only 3 of them usually start as well... not forgetting a couple of midfielders who rarely make the team that cost close to 20 million each (Carrick, and the usually injured Hargreaves). and they have the gall to accuse Chelsea of buying the league....
  19. You're excused. (I'm surprised you're still reading this )
  20. To the Americans that don't understand, Man Utd (aka Man Ure) are like the NY Yankees but a million times more hated. Arrogant does not even begin to describe them. To have built up their fan base on the death of their own players in the late 50s, and even kicking out surviving players from club-provided accomodation is sickening. To have exploited such a tragedy in teir marketing to further their brand is just sick. Compare to Torino who genuinely had the best team in Europe in the late 40s, already showing their potential winning multiple titles already as well as being the whole Italian national side. They all died in the tragic Superga air disaster and the team has never recovered (1 title since) leaving city rivals Juventus (backed by Fiat who also own Ferrari) to become the most successful team in Italian football history. (And Man Ure aren't even the most successful in England, let alone Europe!)
  21. They'll make a bright pink ceramic one for C.Ronaldo... Rio's version will add lots of bling and rival the "I AM RICH" leopard Daytona for gaudiness... I think Paul Scholes will happily retire and leave this cr*p to the posers he'll leave behind (and I've always thought he's overrated, but have no problem with Scholes the person) I'd love to see LFC stay top all season, but it'll have to be one game at a time. I remember that year Houllier took Liverpool to the top and it looked like there was a real chance and then a bunch of lacklustre performances and draws put paid to that.... Benitez is much better, but Chelsea are still formidable favourites.... but still, fingers crossed
  22. I woke up yesterday and saw that Hublot had done this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7700407.stm I hoped it was a mistake, but not so. I guess they are happy to support an entity that has made their history on the death of innocent lives and relies on the work of child labour to swell their coffers. This is just disgusting... I urge anyone who has ever wanted a Hublot to get the rep instead and not line both these entities' greedy pockets by buying the genuine. Never thought I'd ever say that. And they are even going to make a limited edition too to mark this money-obsessed partnership, that will ruin their brand. If you want a genuine buy the real deal Audemars Piguet, not a rip-off brand who are happy to support all that is wrong with the world. Hublot are forever tainted in my eyes now, and show they are all about money, no soul involved at all.
  23. Looks like the DLP screen I saw is out anyway... the website looks like a scam... evadisonline.co.uk looks suspiciously EXACTLY like mobice.co.uk I guess the only way to check it out is to go to the stores listed.
  24. This article says it all: Hello Nokia Arte, Vertu, and the new Motorola etc....
