  1. Until today, I'd never seen an iPod Touch before (yes yes i know, I've been using my phone as an mp3 player the past few years...). I didn't realise the iPhone is a glorified iPhone Touch...!
  2. if it's true about a keyboard version, it could really make an impact in the smartphone market not aimed at fashion victims or those that want the latest toy. business users will find it more useful. blackberry thunder/storm will be interesting to see how they implement their system aimed at business users.
  3. Bold is out in Europe and available on eBay amongst other official sites. It has 3.5G, wifi, GPS, same resolution screen as iPhone, arguably the best Blackberry keyboard, hotswappable microSDHC card etc
  4. http://www.firebox.com/product/2029/Vuzix-iWear anyone tried these and know if they work? sounds like a nice idea at any rate. For those in the US: http://www.vr920.com/iwear/
  5. Good luck sssurfer! With all the technological advances RG makes in hand-applied lume, it wouldn't surprise me.... but not for me to say. Good to see you around sssurfer and The Zigmeister
  6. Or we should all have an Anfield GTG one day I think there are enough LFC fans here for that.
  7. i'd love to make it... perhaps i can find one of those free flights out there one weekend? just have to find a cheap hotel and always lots of watches to relume from me hope your eye is better now! take it easy and enjoy France, I've only been to Nice (and Monaco) which were pretty good. The language won't be a problem for you, unlike me trying my school French
  8. new iPhone with slide out keyboard in the works? i better trademark the name iSlide http://crackberry.com/steve-jobs-contemplates-slider-iphone
  9. the LG Prada isn't that great, it's a fashion phone, even more so than the iPhone ! The Viewty is a lot better than the Prada and the upcoming one has most of the things that put me off the Viewty (and I got the n82 instead) - it now has wifi, hotswappable memory card, camera lens cover, and now with 8MP camera I tried the Viewty and the haptic feedback was good.
  10. well... the AMG Ingenieur was made in titanium, both chrono and non-chrono... IWC GST Chrono before that... and if they are happy to use a "platinum coating" on Big Bangs, why not work on a titanium IWC Aquatimer... I'm sure there'd be a demand for the chrono and non-chrono versions now that the mechanism is replicable
  11. I like that tee as well Great for going out to a club Let me know how it is once you have it
  12. image cave bandwidth exceeded.... and if people keep buying this, it will stay at such a high price, and it gets worse with falling GBP/Euro
  13. Don't forget Phoband has Darth Vader's watch
  14. What a pity, it would be great to get a no logo watch... Those who appreciate timepieces not for their brand (eg. TeeJay and others) would get these.
  15. Dunno why it just appeals to me... must be because i used to write computer programs and studied physics! http://www.firebox.com/product/1947/Designer-Binary-Clock Another non-traditional wall clock http://www.firebox.com/product/1139/TIX-LED-Clock Time Tee, got the time? And check out the lume! http://www.firebox.com/product/1833/Time-Tee I love that site, so many different and offbeat, as well as useful things.
  16. I agree about the Predator effect... that's what came to mind when I first read about it. Either way, it cannot hide mass, so footprints, tire tracks will still show up. Something like rain will also reveal the shape. I guess you could have a fog of particles that will stick to it to reveal the invisible object as well. Noise is also not hidden, so they will need to supress that in terms of vehicles or people. Breathing etc could be a giveaway. There is also smell/pheromones (if a person) to detect. Perhaps it will be most effective with long range snipers or covert operations like 007 I just hope it's not used to snoop on people!
  17. I have a degree in physics, but I think I spent too much time on the basketball court and DJing I guess what they could do is create a small slit/visor to allow light in for the user to see out. If infrared is allowed in, then a tank that is cloaked could use the information to recreate on a screen what is going on outside, so it would be visually invisible.
  18. i do like how the iphone looks... big plus in it's favour is the large screen (downside being battery life due to it) for watching movies, and viewing webpages. There are little things that really put me off though... having to use iTunes, having to use a (USB?) cable connection to the computer instead of a removeable memory card and card reader (which I was surprised to find is so much faster!), lack of true multitasking (wouldnt be so bad if messenger, music, and web/email could be run all at the same time) and of course the cr*ppy o2 tariffs. And I have no idea if it has native DivX/XviD support (or perhaps players can be installed, like CorePlayer on the n series Nokia). Reports are that the Blackberry Bold is having problems with a bug in the JavaScript support on their browser causing long download speeds in a minute or two. iPhone is much faster. Interestingly, Opera is lightning quick on the Bold, so it's definitely a bug that apparently RIM are looking into at the moment. Probably have a bug fix at some point. And the new LG KC910 really does look good: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=5214 http://www.gsmarena.com/8megapixel_lg_kc91...er-news-582.php The Blackberry Thunder/Storm (delete as necessary if you are in the rest of the world or the US respectively) is shaping up to be released in October. This is the true BB competitor to the iPhone as it will be a touchscreen phone. Perhaps I should hold off and wait for that to see how it is. http://gizmodo.com/5023921/confirmed-black...ase-not-delayed first live shots: http://crackberry.com/exclusive-first-live...ckberry-thunder http://crackberry.com/verizon-blackberry-storm-update HTC Touch Pro has been released and is very similar to the HTC Touch Diamond but with a slide out qweerty keyboard. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will probably be very similar as HTC are making it for them, as well as using Windows Mobile. Review: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_touch_pro-review-278.php I guess you can wait forever for the next best phone, there's always a new one getting released! Or perhaps wait til after Xmas for price drops This long quest to get a phone to view RWG on the train is still ongoing (and to point out the relevance of this post in General Discussion to begin with!)
  19. from a technical point of view, if it's bending light, then no light can get into the space it's shielding, so the problem will be whether you can see out of that space. With no light reaching your eyeballs, you're in the dark. I'm sure a way will be found around it. Maybe they'll call it the "Daredevil" costume and use sonar
  20. isn't it open source made using webkit ? i think i'll take a look at the code at some point
  21. Don't go in the showers or you'll be caught!
  22. Check this out. http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/ne...icle4494440.ece Probably detectable via infra red ... however if everything is invisible, just look for zero readings to spot them. If light is bent around, will the person inside the area be in the dark ? I'm sure the military will use it to kill more people.
  23. Pay As You Go iPhone for 350 GP http://timesonline.typepad.com/technology/...s-you-go-i.html
  24. Thanks for the info... that could work in most cases I guess... how about playing music, while playing solitaire or going on AIM or browsing? Of the reviews I've read, the e71 seems to have the best battery life though. 14 hours of GPS is quite something!
