  1. I think if V is asking us with this poll, then he must know for sure that the straps cost more than the watch. I vote for the straps!! Merry X'Mas........from Asia!
  2. Man Bill, forgot about your collection there for a second, but that picture brought the memory right back. quick question, does any of your winder still work well? I had one of the 8 watch, 4 winder box, and I used to had it on constantly, and needless to say, it died in a few months, and now none of the motor work at all. Just curious to know if yours is still "turning" along.....
  3. Thanks to everyone that replied. I saw that the topic at hand got a bit off tangent, but that is all good. I think I just may bring 1 additional watch abroad with me. And I will try to look the part, while being cooperative, I think that may be the main thing perhaps, and I think I may even snap a picture with either of my watches next to my license plate. might as well be prepared, am I right? does anybody actually have nightmare stories with customs agents by the way? thanks bill for your stories and insight, much appreciated.
  4. I can't believe Sly did not talk about his favorite watch, and the one he wore on a daily basis. I am sure it is still a Pam, but which one Sly? Can't believe you dodged that question.
  5. Hey Reg, I had really thought about making a trip to the watch market in China, but time is too short for me to make it out there. I may see if I can possibly meet up with River though, to see if he can give me any "face to face" discount. It'd be nice if I can, we'll see.
  6. Thanks Baltic, you brought up a good point. On one hand, you have to worry about whether or not the customs will give you crap thinking you are bringing counterfeit goods into U.S., although based on the responses thus far, it seemed like that is not a big of a concern as I thought would be. But on the other hand, what if my watches looked too new or too shiny, and the custom agents think that I bought from abroad, and want to charge me taxes, unless I can provide documentation that I bought it before I left the U.S.? Has anybody dealt with the tax issue before? Taking a quick poll here, thanks again for the responses.
  7. bumped for seeking additional feedback as I am leaving tomorrow morning......
  8. "jetmid" can never go wrong, like sssurfer said above, that is the magic word, or aka password!
  9. Let the show begin!!!!
  10. Well, I'll be traveling to Asia for 2 weeks, and am thinking about taking my 005 and 1680 with me. I have not travel out of the country for some time? how worry should I be with US customs, or Asian customs, as well. I plan to have one of the watches in the watch carrying case in my carry on luggage. What are the risks of taking two watches, instead of just wearing one on the wrist? can someone advise on this topic? all opinions and thoughts are welcomed as always......thanks in advance.
  11. one look at that back, yep, a fake one, but wait, he says it is "100% authentic", what's one to do? lol
  12. Those mannequins look hot.
  13. Hi Angus, Can you please tell me if there are plans to bring out the pilot chrono? This is the watch to die for. I would really appreciate it if you can talk the factories into making this. Thanks.
  14. Sailboat, keep in mind that since it is a 7750 of some sort, changing the date during like 8pm to 6am is a big no no, you will feel the force as you try to change the date around that time. And don't force it, otherwise it would jam the gear up. I would recommend to adjust the time to like 7 or 8 in the morning, then adjust the date, and that should be ok. (if I was guessing right in the first place that is). Good luck, and welcome.
  15. wow, I have not checked on this thread since my post on that first page. there had been quite a few posts about this. it's great to know that eric took care of arthur's bills with The Zigmeister. props to eric. let's do close this chapter, and hope the moral of the story that we all learned is that if you are selling something to a person, tell it like it is, and don't lie about it. and we'll continue to have this great community grow each day. happy ticking/sweeping as always......
  16. I remember when I dealt with EL a while back and I needed to send the watch. I certainly did not send it back to either China or Taiwan, you really just send it to the place where dealer designates. the buyer is being a douche, and sorry to hear about your luck there Sash, but perhaps it is a blessing in disguise for the future, you never know....
  17. Not as desparate as me!!! But since a few members said they got theirs, I think I will be receiving mine shortly, then I can send it off to Rob.. look at my expressionS!!
  18. there are no good reps of maurice lacroix at all. unfortunately. some of their pieces are great looking.
  19. Chronomat, not to beat a dead horse over and over, but if you happen to read this thread again, can you let some of us nosies know why you would drill the lughole on the watch, when you told Arthur that you are sending him a new watch? Besides the bezel and other issues, that is the most puzzling thing on my mind. If you tell him you are sending him a new watch, why did you even attempt to drill the lughole?
  20. I actually have rated this topic, yay me!! as for subs, this is one of the best subs being offered on the market today. Best sub
  21. Thanks Rob for the clarification!
  22. Thank you Rob for letting me know that you do this kind of service. By the way, I will be shipping the watches we have discussed next week. Please check your email either today or tomorrow as I have a question for you with regards to a part that is coming to me. I will contact you also some time down the line, once I have collected all the parts needed for my MBW.
  23. FM.......
  24. hi boys and girls, I too, have that ebay winder, it will last less than 6 months, and eventually will die. all of my motors are dead, and now it is just a watch display case. I think you do get what you paid for, and I guess there is a reason why watch winders that lasts does cost a pretty penny right? Hope some of you guys will have better luck than some of us. If some of you are asking for my recommendation, not that you would, I would vote against it, as it will break down over time of use......
  25. Nice gesture Randy, and I hope it will all work out in the end for you Arthur. I know that I may still be in the minority now, but I would like to hear from "Eric" as to why this has happened in the first place. And it can just be a few sentence, I just think that the community deserve an actual explanation from the offender. If mods think I am out of line, feel free to PM me, and that matter shall be closed. But to me, it's like, "ooops, you caught me, I better do you right" kind of a thing. Did Eric just anticipate on sending Arthur the watch and that will be the end all be all kind of thing? I am "befuddled"
