  1. First wristy back after my USA Trip. Vegas is truely wild. edit: I decided to share with you a little. This was the view from my hotel room window:
  2. Hike, as you know you are my photographic idol, so to recieve those compliments from yourself is huge! Thankyou! I'm travelling to San Francisco, then LA, finishing with 5 days in Vegas!
  3. Nice pictures guys. Tomorrow I'm leaving you all for 9 days or so on my US trip. I expect I'll give you some pics when I get back if they are wanted! Spending the last couple of days really trying to get to grips with the 50D. So worth every penny I spent on it.. I don't expect every shot I take from it to be brilliant, my keep rate is pretty low at the moment but the ones that are keepers I quite like indeed. So an arty shot of my faithful gen which you will all be familiar with by now: and a bonus shot I took of a lovely lady friend of mine:
  4. Hehe, great minds. I have a 50mm 1.8 Mk II arriving tomorrow
  5. So all you guys know that I've been taking pictures for the last year or so with a camera phone (Nokia N82), but the thing is I've always had a deep deep interest in photography. For the last 8 months or so I've bought books and read online journals and reviews in their hundreds all about photography so that by the time I actually get a camera I know at least some of what I'm doing! Today I'm pleased to say after a failed online order I finally have a DSLR, I've purchased a Canon 50D with a 18-200 Lens and I've gotta say, the out of the box results with it are absolutely stunning. I'm going to be travelling to the US on Thursday and doing a road trip. San Francisco to LA, then LA onto Las Vegas and the plan is to take the camera and take some incredible shots to remember it by! So, while it was fun being the camera phone guy... Today, I graduate to the big league I expect Freddy will be particularly interested in this thread as it is literally a case of someone never having owned a DSLR before taking their first shots.. I present to you my first DSLR wrist shot, in the style of one of my favourite RWG photographers Hikeusa GMT2 a la Hike (flash used, its 100% dark outside) and an extra, typical shot The image quality is absolutely incredible but I gotta be honest, taking good shots does take the knowledge of all the factors, ISO, aperature, lens knowledge & shutter speeds. It just isn't "easy" (especially since as of course as yet I havn't seen a daylight with it!) I look forward to battling with the learning curve!
  6. Great pic Freddy, has a nice atmosphere and feel to it. Although I never did "get" sparkling water. It tastes weird to me.. Beautiful pic Lani, I'm assuming BK YM? Its amazing. Looks 100% Gen! For me: 4 Days till my US trip begins...
  7. Wouldn't mind one of those blinged GMT2C bezels. No idea what it'd look like with just the bezel but I imagine pretty cool.. Would he sell individual parts? Whats the cost?
  8. Hike, thats absolutely ridiculous! You need to calm down! I think you're buying them just so you can take more beautiful pictures of them rather than wear them! Wanna buy my IWC Portofino? edit: Thats a joke before I get fried by admin for trying to sell something..!
  9. Oh my goodness, this sounds terrible! Worrying since I just layed down over
  10. Look like they've corrected the end link gap to you guys?
  11. This looks beauuuuuuuutiful, Ken - PM me on price of one of these bad boys
  12. A poll about a poll!? Oh the irony! Although perhaps people that don't care for polls infact won't care for this poll either? Thus skewing the results poll-favourable? Just a thought!
  13. Great pic and nice watch dluddy!
  14. I'm gonna vote no, not because of any integrity issues as I believe this forum has one of the most interactive and trustable admin team of any forum I've ever visited, but because of pure symbolism. In my opinion; the raffles are seen as a 'for the community' type of thing. I think it is only natural that the mods should step back and allow the 'community' a reward/opportunity for their participation. I'll reiterate that; of course it'd be nice to see a mod win something as they work hard selflessly to support RWG and we all know them, but it just doesn't seem 'right'. Things like raffles I think are meant to draw the community into the board more, and when the mod team steps back from participating - its almost like they are 'becoming' the board in its unity and presenting it themselves. To illustrate what I mean; when a gen raffle takes place; I know that I'd be thankful to the whole mod team. I'd be thankful to KB, to Lani, to cornerstone, to offshore etc. Because its these people that deserve the credit for allowing the raffle to go on after all. If they were to participate, it would take away the sense that RWG is trying to bring the community in, and rather that it was an open lotto for anyone.
  15. Looks great, actually looks 100% like the WM9 to me.. I think it only looks diff from the gen because the gen has a shallower, domed shape of SL inside of it, I think if you could have played with the shape & (amount?) a little it would have possibly looked 1:1
  16. I really want 3D glasses to see this, this could potentially look very awesome. Although you need some kind of special camera or something to give the image real depth to make it look like the watch is sticking out from a wrist. I assume here you've used some kind of photoshop method or other program to transform a normal image into a 3D one? Either way, coooool idea.
  17. Really really nice watches & pics guys... Hike, your pictures Took a date pic just for today, 24 for the 24th I really feel like my camera phone has taken me as far as it can, I'm thinking about purchasing a Canon 50D.. Anyone have any advice or suggestions? Was thinking a 50D with a 24-70mm f2.8L and maybe a nice L series prime of some sort for more mobility.
  18. I said this as my theory so sooooo long ago. Why didnt anyone listen
  19. This is a great video, I'd recommend this small collectors documentary to anyone. Very credible information and great to see a profile of some of the big customers and how they suffer with the selection just as much as we do with reps! Nice find man!
  20. Wow hike, incredible pictures and incredible piece is this the same 111 as was in your other picture with the brown strap? Could you gimme some more info on it? Am in the market for a 111 but don't know which one to choose!
  21. Havn't posted in a wristie for ages.. am ill today so spent much of the day in bed.. never the less - wearing this:
  22. Real nice L.. These pics make me think of how much I'd like to have a Panerai.. a 111 with a nice sandwich dial, great lume & AR and a nice fitting strap (like any of the above).. Except I have such small wrists
  23. Your collection is not only so expansive but so valuable in monetary terms. Everything has been modded and AR'd and lumed and all sorts. This is a really incredible collection Lani and demonstrates a true interest in the essense of this hobby itself, to take well done pieces and make them even better. Although there are alot of watches in your posession, theres something about your illustrated collection that I feel holds true to ubi's coined "quality over quantity" and to me illustrates why your collection is superior to others such as Tanfo (as mentioned in another thread as having a 'larger' collection).
