  1. Ok, I think I found a gen 703 tube in my collection of bits as well. Here's a comparison shot: 703 704
  2. Thanks J. I actually know that trick as well, and while it does work, all I was able to find in the first two google pages was FS threads or WTB threads
  3. Actually, upon further investigation, I was mistaken (thank goodness I keep a record of each purchase that I made!). This particular noob sub that I am rebuilding did NOT come with a gen crown and tube. It was a different sub that I sold a while back. It was a euromariner and it had a ton of mods done to it. Thanks for the input folks! It was sure helpful
  4. Well now I am not so sure It was sold to me as having a gen 703 crown & tube. Upon checking it, it is definitely not gen Oh well, I guess the 704 and 7030 would work well for something else. Maybe I'll install them into my 14060 from JMB
  5. So is there a difference between the 7030 tube and the 703? I have a gen 703 tube & crown on my noobmariner and this crown does not fit at all. The shaft diameter is bigger.
  6. No worries! Highest form of flattery is to follow ones artistic style The only critique I would offer is that the specular highlights on the bezel are a little too blown out
  7. Winner winner, chicken dinner! Congrats cIb0rgman! You have a PM as well
  8. Now what one earth would that have been used for? I was wondering why the shaft diameter of the crown was so much thicker than any other crown/tube set I had here!
  9. I have a crown & tube set here that I found in my parts bin. Pretty positive that they are gen, but I can't tell if it's supposed to be a 702 or 703? Of course I could use the search function, but since it is limited to needing more than three characters it's hard to search for 703 and come up with something useful. I have taken several pics of the crown & tube. Experts.... can you tell me what these are?
  10. That's right folks, I am giving away some nice tools here!!! First one to PM me that is CONUS will get a nice little starter kit here. The kit includes an AF Swiss Watchmakers Screwdriver set, a Presto Hand Removal Tool, and two tweezers (#2 and #7). I have upgraded my tool kit a wee bit and I think someone here deserves a nice starter kit. I will even pay for shipping Here's a pic of the set: Ok folks!!! And........ GO!!!!!!
  11. TAG Heuer Aquaracer Chrono for today:
  12. Wow! Just wow! You are turning out some amazing work in that little shop of yours Nicely done J!
  13. Thanks ChiMan! Yeah, i am really pleased with how it turned out and even more pleased at how much my wife likes it Just need some parts to fix the autowind mechanism on this one and then it will be good to go
  14. Showing my Stølås some much deserved love for wednesday:
  15. I have a few little projects that have been "sitting around" for a while
  16. Exactly my thought. Just for complete balance framework for an ETA 2836 from Ofrei is $46 for one piece!!! I figure if I get three or four good working 2836's, one good 2846 and use the parts from the 2824 to fix up one I have here, I will be a happy camper
  17. Well I think I got pretty lucky anyways Today I won a bid for a lot of ETA movements which includes: 3-4 17J movments 2846 1 21J movment 1 2824 movement 1 2834 frame 16+ 2836 movements in gold and a couple in silver with etching and blued screws Considering what I won it for ($170.00 USD), I think I did pretty good. Of course not all of the movements will work, but I am pretty confident that I will be able to service/repair most of them Of course, there is always the possibility that I got scammed, but I feel pretty good about this one.
  18. Great watch! Agreed on the lume shot though - need to see it Congrats!!!!
  19. Very sad news. Just did a google of the man and he's designed some amazing timepieces. I had never even heard of the Universal Geneve line or the Polerouter, but that is a pretty cool watch!
  20. Not really....not much for checking the date on the watch, even when it is there
  21. Me too!! No idea to be honest. I bought it complete from J They are maxi and maxi indicators as well. She thought so too Well you deserve all the credit for this beautiful no-date my friend! Thanks!
  22. Love the jubilee as well, but I think that the oyster looks more appropriate on this particular watch. Just my 0.02 However, that jubilee would be awesome on one of your Day-Date's
  23. I figured since I still had the photo studio setup from this weekend I would take a couple of quick pictures of some new watches I have acquired/built. Rolex Submariner 14060 No Date This was a custom build by JMB. A very nice example with custom drilled lug holes. I put a nicer 9135 non-sel bracelet on it Rolex DateJust Turn-O-Graph I bought a case set from ChiMan12 a few weeks ago. It came with the case set, dial, hands, date wheel, crystal & crown. I had to add the movement and assemble it. I have given this watch to my wife who loves it
  24. Thanks Chief! And you got it! Of course, we should probably use the lathe & mill first before the drinking begins..... might not turn out to well otherwise
