  1. Question for the pro's here. First off, I have a gen insert on a noobmariner that has a pearl that was cracked and then fell out. I remember that there was a really good pearl replacement, but I can't remember the store/eBay seller that had them. Was it Watch Material or something like that? Also, does anyone have a spare 2836-2 lying around? I have the correct DW with overlay, so I just need a working movement for this guy. Thanks!
  2. I think I'll do Ronin's little brother for Friday
  3. That is one beautiful combination there Freddy!
  4. Any more pics? This one is hard to see unfortunately. It's too far back and too small for my aging eyes
  5. My favorite combo! Looking good Nanuq!
  6. Thanks R! I actually managed to fix this one Watch is assembled and running like a champ Only issue is the autowind mechanism is a little unhappy. Waiting for some supplies from Ofrei so I can clean it up.
  7. That is the other unfortunate issue with ink jets, the ink will eventually soak into what ever it's printed on and it looses that effect. That is why the Dye Sublimation Transfer process is so perfect for this situation (at least that is my theory). Its a totally dry process so the dye will not soak in or sink.
  8. Sorry for the crappy blackberry photo, but my camera is out for repair This picture does not do this watch justice at all. My new custom JMB Rolex 14060 No-Date Submariner Gotta love those Lug Holes!!!!
  9. Does anyone here have a Dye Sublimation Printer? That might be a better choice for printing, and the cool thing is, the print is ever so slightly raised so it comes really close to looking like a silk screen instead of just a standard print. Plus it is instantly dry and the process used does not have that "dithering" or shifting effect that ink jet has (where the ink drops never "quite" land in the same place twice)
  10. Some pretty whacky watches there Narikaa! I do quite like that Chopard though. Pretty different (although probably way to big for me)
  11. Love the Datejusts and I especially love that white dialed Day-Date Ubi! @ LHOOQ - another great Longines to add to the collection! Great looking piece Still wearing my new gen Aquaracer Chrono today
  12. Thanks C! Actually, the tube is just fine. It's sitting nicely on a spare 2824-2 I have. I think J is correct in that the 4th Wheel pinion is broken off and needs replacing. EDIT: Sorry, I thought you meant that the seconds hand tube from the TOG broke off. I think you are right that another seconds hand tube is stuck on there. I might be able to fix it when I take it all apart. In the meantime, can anyone tell me if this looks like the right part from Ofrei? ETA 2836-2 Fourth Wheel, SS Ht 5.55 Standard for the ETA 2836-2 and can be used with the ETA 2801, 2801-1, 2801-2, 2804, 2804-1, 2804-2. FB-227/734 $9.35
  13. Definitely don't have hands that steady J! I guess it's time for a new 4th wheel (and another disassembly of this poor 2836-2) The sucky part is: I just got the hands PERFECT! The date snaps perfectly right at midnight! Dammit!
  14. A little back story here. I bought a Turn-O-Graph kit from ChiMan12 last week and I have spent the last couple of days assembling it. First of all was the extremely fun part of trying to install the oversized date wheel on the movement. That was a true exercise in patience!!! But after about an hour of fussing with it, I managed to get it installed and it is working brilliantly. Hour hand installed without issue. The minute hand wouldn't stay on so out came the trusty staking kit and I used it to compress the tube on the minute hand and now it fits brilliantly! Now on to the problem. Trying to install the seconds hand and it just wouldn't go on for some reason. Break out the loupe to find that there is NO seconds hand post on my movement!!!! So my question is..... Where the heck did it go???? Experts.... Can this be fixed? Any thoughts on what might have happened to it? This movement came from a Noob Submariner so I know it had a working seconds hand on it at one point
  15. I read this blog pretty regularly as Alex seems to always have some interesting product photography projects going on and he always posts setup shots and sometimes videos as well. This one in particular was pretty interesting: The $55 Lighting Project
  16. Time to bring back the spankings I'd say! I was "disciplined" as a kid and I think it's the best way to teach a kid that there are genuine consequences for doing something wrong. The whole "go stand in the corner and think about what you did" crap is just silly in my opinion. And now, if you spank your child in public suddenly you are a child abuser!
  17. Joined the Gen TAG Heuer Club with my new Aquaracer Chrono
  18. White Spirit? Thanks for the tip RM! EDIT: Is this what you mean?
  19. Now why didn't you tell me that last week when I ordered my screwdrivers?
  20. Your ISO setting for that first shot was 3200!!! You should be around 200 to 400 and then it will be far less noisy!
  21. That's what I am expecting as well.....
  22. It's quite tricky, but it can be done with some serious patience. Of course, I nearly lost mine today, but in the end I managed to figure it out
