  1. This pic should show you the difference between DSN's Purple Nightmare and his Blue one. There are actually three variations, at least I was given three. One is all nasty and Purple, one teases you with a nice matte Blue sub-dial, and the third is the way it should be - all Blue. I've got the two Purple ones safely locked away in my attic, hoping they'll take on any Purple properties that a future dial may have .... All you need to do on your is polish up the centre area of the case back, and give the outer slope a sunburst pattern
  2. So how can I tell if a 063 or 029 case will accept the 2893 movement, or is it a case of not knowing until I give it a try What would need modding, is it just a question of re-milling a movement retainer ring? Or is much more needed? In case you hadn't guessed I've got both the old 063 and 029, but with ETA 2836-2 movements in them, and I've got one 2893 on the way, perhaps a second, so .....
  3. $1500 ??!!!?? How much would a PAM063 of similar build, be worth?
  4. You will need the 0.9mm one, otherwise you would have to buy a different stem in order to use the 1.2mm one. Be warned though, that these crowns have deep dishes, aren't spring loaded, and have a deeper threading socket, therefore you will need to shave down the existing stem to bring it to the right height and your CG lever should have a long tip. Doing this is properly not the easiest thing, and will require a lot of 'hit and miss' usually the first time around. So you may want to make sure you have an extra stem or two ...
  5. I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering about the LandR Ultrasonic washing and rinsing solutions mentioned by The Zigmeister. The local watch parts distributor has a sale on the stuff, so I'll picking up some jugs to use with my home (cheap one, but works great) cleaner. What I'd like to know is whether I use the LandR full strength, or diluted in distilled water? Remember It's just for personal use, so maybe five or six movements worth of parts every few months ... Thx And if The Zigmeister is back and browsing the forum, check your email
  6. Plus you never know the condition of the crystal gasket, and that is all that is keeping any moisture from entering through the crystal area. They never add any sealant/glue/whatever to the crystal area.
  7. That looks great. Congrats.
  8. What?!? No pics. Keep this up and I'm going to start using my old avatar again (was just like yours, but I switched after finding that out since you are a long-time member)
  9. You are right, but they sure look great Because he insisted that Purple dial was really Blue and just looked Purple in different lighting, I just don't trust what he says anymore. So I wasn't sure until I took the macro shot. The paint he used looks just like blue metal, it was even hard to take a pic of them showing the blue, because at most angles they look black just like my 192.
  10. I think DSN used what ever he was given, or ended up with. He still insists he never used a purple dial in his 228 rep, but he sure as h. did and I've got the pictures, and dials, to prove it Perhaps I was mistaken, but they certainly did not look painted. I thought they looked just like the ones on my 192, are those painted? Anyway, I'll take some pics tonight or tomorrow just to be sure ....
  11. I have the one that DSN put out near the end of last year. It has solid Titanium case and blued hands (like my 192), not painted. If you wanted to know when the gen was put out, it is an F series so 2003.
  12. Well maybe if you had just said that in the first place, all would have been clear. Even your posts in that linked thread don't mention that the pics are of the old models, or that it is the database that randomly generated the listing. So I think we can do without the snide remarks, thank-you.
  13. Not at all. It's just that Josh and Andrew don't usually bother adding pics to their site, unless they're about to release something. Since they created two new listings (a 188 and a 196) with a temporary description and generic pricing (888), you get the feeling that they may be selling those two models soon, as they did the same thing with the Mare Nostrum PAM, or whatever it is called, recently. Not really rocket science
  14. That looks great, what crystal did you use and who is Caruwe? That looks like the latest DSN dial, is it?
  15. This seems to be a bit more than just a rumour, as they've posted initial pics - they did the same with the 300 (or was it 310, I forget ). They never post pics like that without releasing something new a week or two later .... at least not that I've seen.
  16. I was thinking about this a while back. It occurred to me that maybe an older Angus 111F dial (looks just like the one pictured by w0lf), which you could get The Zigmeister to change the LSwissL to the TSwissT?? I used the dial in your current build as the pic of the 040B, I was working from, had thicker numerals and indexes that were also slightly recessed.
  17. Oh yeah, pass the tobacco around. Back when I was truly hooked on the wacky tobacky, and I had three of them (118F that I just sold, not pictured)... And the one I decided to keep, which I managed to find a Ziggified dial and hand set for.
  18. Dial is black, is just the lighting. Case back is jakobhh 040B case back.
  19. I would hold off on that purchase for a bit. The cartel has just listed a couple of 7753 powered PAMs, which may be better. They haven't uploaded all the pics and full details yet though.
  20. Press the button again, then while keeping it pushed in tap the opposite lug on a hard surface. The bar should drop out, or start to come out. After part of it has begun to protrude from the opposite lug, just pull it out. But remember that some PAM reps have fake QR systems (like the 308 with manual wind movement).
  21. Forgot to mention, the fully serviced ETA in my 111H rep is one of the noisiest movements I've got.
  22. You may want to just get the solid case back from DSN, reluming, and nice replacement strap - like the on in tx's first pic. You'd be surprised what a difference a good strap can make
  23. First are you talking 6497 or 7750, if you mean 6497 all the gen PAM ones have Incabloc shock assemblies, while ETA may have Incabloc or Novodiac, Asian none of the previously mentioned ones.
  24. Are you referring to the wider spokes? And how did that test engraving end up looking?
  25. I'm pretty sure the only notification comes when the postman knocks on your door, at least that's what I've experienced Hopefully, as no alteration to the finish is needed, he's working on liking some stamps now.
