  1. There must be various sources for what we call a UPO. Mine has no window bevel either and it's 8 months old.
  2. On the wrist, the dial, hands, case, lugs and crown look soooooo good. Yes, certainly the case back is a dead give-away. Aren't all exhibition backs?!
  3. perfect2clones is a scam site trying to copy Josh's names. Someone else here was offered a 2 yr guarantee from the perfect2clones people LOLOLOL
  4. well, with noobfactory having that crazy sale on their watches for the last month, you probably shouldnt wait much longer on getting an SD .. who knows when the sale will end.
  5. I lean towards the Trevor MBK watch (which I suspect is the v5 2010). The cartel watch's hour markers are too fat, and noobfactory still has not fixed their curved triangle on the bezel insert. They all have something small wrong with them but I think are all good choices at this date .. a couple of years have passed now and the versions have been refined quite a bit.
  6. the real thing ... amazing isn't it? and another view. so beautiful.
  7. Which watch did you settle upon? I'd like to see it
  8. Japanese quartz is very high quality. You might be over-thinking this first purchase. Just get the watch you love the most, and don't worry so much about the engine inside. Japanese Quartz or ETA are both good. One is certainly less expensive, yes .. and batteries instead of service calls.
  9. Every kind of movement has a name. Calibre 057 is the name of that movement. Hopefully you are talking about a genuine version of this watch. Any replica store claiming to have genuine Cartier movements in their watches is not to be trusted.
  10. In the announcement thread for the newest 1:1 ultimate Hublot Big Bang thing ... he comments and explains he's hired additional people to handle QC and photo-approval. Like someone else mentioned, I personally do not understand how such a high-volume dealer can QC watches. Eventually your watchsmith just goes insane and starts stamping everything OK without looking at it. We will see
  11. Welcome Back !!
  12. If the genuine watch you are trying to get a replica of comes in a Quartz movement then you are in like Flynn. And many genuine ladies and mid-size watches come in quartz so ... you're looking good here. Cartier, and Chanel .. Rolex OysterQuartz ... all come in quartz models. Let's not even talk about pure fashion watches like Gucci .. where your only choice is quartz!
  13. Many genuine ladies watches have quartz movements. Most men's high end watches do not. A quartz movement in a mens watch is a huge hit against it's credibility. On a ladies model, it's practically expected.
  14. Mary at WI actually goes out to the Watch Bazaar and hand-picks anything you need. The site is more for looks than for effect. You just email her and she goes and hand-picks them for you.
  15. Place a watch on the hook inside of a pressure tester. Close the lid of the tester. Pressurize the tester. Now here is the important part ... if the watch leaks, it will fill with pressurized air. If it does not leak, it will not fill with anything. Lower the hook and watch now into the water of the tester. Once it is submerged, slowly release pressure from the tester via it's release valve. If the watch has a leak, the pressurized air from inside of the watch will now come streaming out, making many many bubbles.. You must draw the watch out of the water with the hook. No water has gone into the watch because it was streaming out pressurized air.
  16. When a watch leaks inside of a pressure tester, it's perfectly safe. The air is coming out of the watch, and that prevents water from coming in.
  17. It is all very confusing to the newcomer, Plaifender. Of course, the Cartel has had the version 3 and the version 3 Ultimate. Eurotimez was famous for it's version 5 .... two different watches, of course. When Eurotimez vanished the Cartel changed the name of their Ultimate v3 to the Ultimate v5 .... it doesn't take a genius to wonder why. People who want a Cartel Ultimate will buy this watch, and people who want a v5 model will also accidentally buy this watch. Now all the naming is confused. Throw in the MBK DSSD (which I think is a 2010 v5) and the Noobfactory DSSD .. LOL ... lots of things to keep track of.
  18. It sounds like you need to have your dad drop in a genuine dial. See Cousins UK parts store. Some people stare at their reps, looking for small problems and become more and more panicked. If you are that kind of buyer, you might want to stick with genuine watches for the sake of your own mental health.
  19. I like the way you think.
  20. Due to the complete lack of quality control in replica factories, even a watch designed to be waterproof might not be just because a gasket is left out on the workbench!! Never trust a replica watch, because QC does not exist. Always check for yourself.
  21. mega bump for the current crop of forum newbies.
  22. Right now I am looking at eBay, and Miyota Quartz movements are 5 to 15 dollars there. As far as what a watchsmith would think .. like I mentioned, you generally throw away a quartz movement and replace it. Mechanical watches can be fixed easily when you have spare parts such as are available for ETA movements. It's about the same, really. A qualified watchsmith could do either of those things with his eyes closed. This watch forum and other watch forums all have trusted watch repair people who can fix whatever you buy. Repair isn't a problem ..
  23. I don't know about a serious black strap on such a playful watch as the CC Dreams, Dr Gran .... maybe maroon leather.
