  1. Thanks Red and all others for the compliments! I am really excited about this one!
  2. I saw the 45mm versions. Hopefully you're right an Ofrei will have them at some point, they may have access to them already, maybe ill give them a call next week...
  3. This one I am definitely not selling. I made that mistake before
  4. Based on model numbers it looks like you should be good as I think the UPO case is the same size as the gen. dimensions. Not sure about the case back though - good luck! Let me know if you find one for the 42mm
  5. A gen caseback would be sweet..I have no idea where you'd source one of them though...
  6. I just bought these http://cgi.ebay.com/Hands-ETA-2824-2-White-Rolex-Tudor-Submariner-/230499144533?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35aad1d355#ht_500wt_1043 from Clarks and they fit....
  7. You may have a bigger issue than length. If the hands are made for a Rolex movement - it is doubtful that the hands will fit your movement. If your movement is an ETA you should look for Tudor hands or just Mercedes style ETA hands, if you have an Asian movement - it's a different story still....
  8. I think he meant the Brickyard 400 which is being held at the Indy Motor Speedway...not a fan, but we are holding a class in Indy this weekend and the room rates are through the roof!
  9. Hi UT - I bought and assembled the watch in pieces from several sellers. I never had the original MBW hands - I originally bought the WO hands but nobody seemed to care for them so I bought the Clarks hands on the recommendation of several friends on the board. They are actually designed for the Tudor, but Tudors use a very similar hand to that of the Rolex and Tudors use ETA movements so they mount right to my ETA movement...
  10. Nice eye! I was wondering if anybody would pickup on that!
  11. Check with FxrAndy...at one point he had some Silver overlays that you can glue onto the top of your current datewheel. It's what I did with my 1665.
  12. I just finished finishing Ubi's final Goals - Gen Crown and Tube and Chief's AR Coating
  13. Back in October of 2009 I finished a Franken Planet Ocean 42mm after being inspired by Ubi's "Building the Ultimate 4th Gen 42mm PO" () post on the same watch. Shortly there after I won the Genuine Speedmaster Raffle and the PO started getting very little wrist time (along with a couple of my other reps), so I decided to sell them off and possibly buy another Gen Omega. I had sorta turned into a Gen. snob, but I shortly got over that and determined it was too hard for me to spend $1500 on a low end Genuine watch, where with the same money I could build myself an really cool Franken and have pride in the build. So I started re-aquiring some of my sold off watches - first i bought back a 3717 with Gen Day/Date wheel and and put a Chief's crystal on it (which I have since sold, again) and then I contacted Ubi and offered to buy his project watch. Which he sold as it was getting little wrist time in his collection. This was back in May...the moment the watch arrived I popped out the Crystal and sent it to Chieftang for his Double AR treatment. Then started the wait...but, this gave me time to install a Gen Crown and Tube onto the already Frankened watch. The watch now has: Gen Dial Gen Hands Gen ETA Date Wheel Gen Bezel/Insert Gen Crown and Tube Gen Bracelet... and for the Cherry on top.... Chief's Double AR Coating The Crystal really does finish everything off really nicely! Here are some pics.. and one more on the wrist...
  14. I am always looking for new photoshop tips - please do it!
  15. Beautiful Cats - I am by no means an expert on Vintage Rollies, yet...But that one is a real looker... Today I am wearing an "Ultimate" PO 42mm...Ultimate because: Gen Dial, Gen Hands, ETA Date, Gen Bezel/Insert, Gen Bracelet, Gen Crown and Tube, and...Chiefs Double AR'd crystal. I just put this thing back together yesterday, I am planning on doing a photo review in a few....
  16. +1 on the ETA Wheels they aren't very expensive, and you could have them installed for a fairly reasonable price too. Or you could wait and have it done during an overhaul....
  17. Wholesaleoutlet 990 - they are an ebay seller of aftermarket "homage" rolex parts...
  18. Yeah I though it was unusual but functional too, I wonder how many Gen 1665s have swapped the crystal out for a Cyclops'd model.
  19. Thanks Alligoat! Next time I have them off I'll spread 'em a bit. What do you think of the cyclops crystal - horrible or ok?
  20. A kinda hodge podge 1665/1680 (Cyclops Crystal)
  21. Here are a couple of more quick pics from the iPhone...I meant to bring in my DSLR, but I forgot it, and now it's resting comfortably at home... Are these endlinks way off, or is this normal for a 1665?
  22. Here's a link to the Before:
  23. I had just finished putting my MBK 1665 DRSD together when I was offered an MBK GWSD dial - so I got it. While it was enroute to me I decided to change out the WO flat top crystal for a Superdome from Clarks - when it arrived I found out that the Retaining ring was too large for the Clarks crystal, so I contact JMB and he machined me one that fits. I then assemble the MBK dial, upgrade the hands that I had one there (WO hands) with a set from Clarks and started assembling the rest of the works when I broke the Superdome crystal - BUGGER! So, I hunted around through my spare parts and found a temporary solution - It's a Clarks as well, I believe, but for either a Submariner or GMT - i.e. Flattop with a Cyclops - but everything else was perfect - crystal to case and retaining ring to crystal - so I assembled it all together and now have it back on my wrist! During the process I also purchased a WO bracelet and through it on. So, as of now, I how some sort of weird 1665/1675/1680 hybrid - I guess that'll have to work until I drop another $60 on another Superdome. Here's a quick iPhone pic: let me know what you think...
  24. The anticipation kills me too!
  25. I can't figure these prices out...Is it purely a status symbol at point? I can understand a rare $10K Daytona or similar watch (Not that I'd pay that much for one), but this I can't get my head around.
