  1. Very Cool Book...if you ever get a chance, I'd be interested in the 1665 Section
  2. My 1665 with 1680 Crystal...it's kinda growin' on me..
  3. The A7750 movement can get screwed up if you change the time while between the hours of 10pm and 2am (on the watch) as that is the time at which the date changes automatically. If you are setting the date, just advance the time to make sure you are not between 10 and 2 and you'll be fine. DB2
  4. Switched the Nato for a WO990 Non-SEL Bracelet, and switched back to the 1680 crystal (for now)...
  5. That is a good looking watch! A true modern classic.
  6. I used a metal overlay - that's why I used the Epoxy. If you are using a paper one, the GS isn't a bad idea (or maybe some plastic model glue). You just want something that doesn't harden up instantly like SuperGlue, give yourself some adjusting time....
  7. I like that one too OSRep. It's a friend of mine's dad fly fishing on the Upper Owens. I am pretty sure my friend is gonna give it to her dad for a Christmas present
  8. First pic is my Giant Yukon Mountsin Bike. Second is my Felt F90 Road Bike.
  9. ETA Dials do have specific dial feet locations that a specific to ETAs. On my 1665 I am using an MBK dial that had Gen Rolex feet positions, I snipped them off and just used dial dots to hold the dial down. I didn't like the idea at first, but after some trial and error - they work just fine. You just have to stack them on top of each other to get the correct height for datewheel clearance.
  10. Based on what you're looking at, I think the Planet Ocean 42mm would be your best fit (It isn't a BIG watch @ 42mm, has sweeping second hands, has a date, doesn't look like either of the Chrono models you mentioned...). Again, it is a personal thing, but I've had a 3717 and the PO and I've sold the 3717 and kept the PO. You can still get the 42mm version from a couple of sources. TrustyTime/Andrew has an "entry-level" version with an automatic movement . It is not the most accurate version out there, but, it does come on a rubber strap. http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_114&products_id=163 He also shows the 4th Gen Planet Ocean @ 42mm. This is a very accurate model, with very few major flaws. This once is more $$$ and doesn't have the Rubber Strap, but if you contact him, he may be able to work something out for a strap. http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_114&products_id=24
  11. I used a 10 minute epoxy - it took me about 5 minutes to get everything lined up...
  12. Watcher - would you mind measuring your caseback when you get it? I am curious to see if it would fit the 42mm case...
  13. From my recent vacation, but still wearing it.
  14. Hey Redwatch - If it's just a disc, like what I have on my 1665, I just glued the overlay to my existing Date Wheel using a slow-drying epoxy. I glued the overlay with the date-wheel installed, lined everything up centering the Date with the Stem on the Movement, set the dial in place, and ran through all the dates, removed the dial slightly adjusted the wheel for centering, reinstalled the dial, ran through the dates, again and again, making very minor adjustments in centering the dates.
  15. Thanks Philosopher! @redwatch I had my 35mm f/1.8 and my 18-200mm. All the above were taken with the 18-200 + a CPL on a couple of them. Any Vignetteing was due to using a 77mm CPL placed over a 72mm lens. The local used lens guy sold me a 77mm filter in a 72mm box, and I didn't check it until I was 450 miles from home
  16. Owen's Valley, Mammoth Lakes, CA Vignetting is due to having a 77mm CPL placed over a 72mm Lens....the local camera guy sold me a 77mm filter in a 72mm box...
  17. I just got back from one of the most beautiful places on the planet, IMHO, and here are a few shots of my trip to the Eastern Sierra Nevada's, California. All the photos are GeoTagged with GPS coordinates in case you care to see where they were shot. This is the first time I've been out in nature with my D60 and I think these turned out pretty good...it was a great trip, but I am back to be home with Internet Access Mammoth Creek, just North of Arrowhead Lake, Mammoth, Lakes, CA: Upper Owens River (Benton Crossing), Mammoth Lakes, CA: Twin Lakes, Bridgeport, CA Wristie 1.... Bike Ride from Twin Lakes, Bridgeport, CA to Nevada Border (50 Miles @ 7,000 feet) Wristie 2....
  18. Thanks Ubi! I sent you a little background via a PM...
  19. Hi Folks Are there any other Rolex models that use the same size crystal as a 1665 that would basically be interchangeable? Thanks David
  20. That will be cool - what are you going to do about the hands - they look as though they are gold-plated as well. You can check out this site - I bought a couple of items from him - probably has something that'll work for you... http://www.mywatchmaker.net/watchstraps/premiumwatchstraps.htm
  21. Wow! That's really nice! I've had my eye on a yellow one - hopefully they get repped at some point - I don't want to pay for a gen
  22. Haha, I was totally going to say Green Bezel. I didn't know it has the Maxi dial and fat minute hand. Thanks for the info! Always learning!
  23. The swirl is cool - I just get little pentagonal shapes...
