Congrats Red! I love my AIr too! Mine is a little older and a little bigger (1st Gen 13"), but it is great. I can push about 4 hours on a full charge when browsing the internet and the screen dimmed a bit...I don't use it as much as I used to (for couch potato surfing my iPad replaced it), but when I need to do anything serious, I bust out the air...
I had the same problem with mine. First round I sanded down the inner diameter of the insert until it fit. Then, after I got tired of that, I purchased a Gen insert and it works perfectly!!
Congrats Matt! Now we really have twins I am wearing mine today too, btw.
@If you see Kay - The gen has a totally different hugh. I had a chief's on mine and while it looked really good, this one look better. I don't know if it's the quality of the crystal itself or what, but, it does make a big difference, even when compared with a Chief's AR job...
That is interesting. I feel like I get to that point with a couple of my watches, but then after varying amounts of time, I end up switching to another, and then another...I wonder if that will happen with the Explorer...
If you're talking about the solid midlink one, I've got one and I really like it. I know it's not correct to the watch, but I really like the weight and feel of it. It doesn't accept 2mm spring bars, but you can drill the bracelet to make them fit...
You may have to sand the inside of the ring a little bit. My MBW/Clarks crystal did anyway. I ended up have JMB custom fabricate me one. You should end up with the retaining ring having an inner diameter about .004" smaller than the crystal. This should allow you to have everything fit the way it should!
I can't speak to the 5th Gen, but the original gasket (replica gasket) on my 4th Gen PO was a perfect fit with the Genuine Crystal. I ordered a gen gasket, but ordered a 45mm on accident, so I ended up not using it.
