I find this topic fascinating. You would think that there would be a little more information on the origins of each individual movement from the manufacturer (ETA). A $50 DVD player has a serial number and you can tell where it was manufactured and when. But you can't tell with a $400 movement, which I would assume, takes a lot more time to assemble. Is this due to the length of time that these movements have been made, or excesses of stock, intermittent manufacturing, ???? Heck, even pennies have a Mint mark....

It was written "One shall only be alloted enough watches as he haveth spaces in thine watch winder," I think thats in the Constitution, May Flower Compact, or maybe the Magna Carta..But the Bill of Rights gives us an exception for their Manual Winding Brethren....

There are issue with it, but I am with alligoat, it is impressive what the factories are doing...The movement will never be seen, well at least not seen by 90%+ of the customers and they've put a ton of work into this one piece....now if they could only figure out how to make a good pearl and center it in on the bezel....hmmmmm...I guess that is harder to do

Gen Bracelet arrived today, It's a bit of a tough fit getting the spring bars into the proper position, but, with a little finesse, they are in! I am running out of non rep parts on this guy The only rep parts left are the He Valve, Case, and Movement...hmmmmm I'll post some pics of the finished product tonight!

Hey Guys - Just thought I'd make a little post about my recent oops. I was trying to pop the bezel off of my 4th Gen PO, the gen. bezel fits really, really, tight, turns easy, but does not want to come off. I tried using by rubber Ofrei bezel remover to no avail, so I tried the Razor blade method, well the razor blade broke and I put a small (~ 1mm) ding in the case at the 2 O'Clock position. CRAP! What to do, what to do.... So, I busted out the 1,000 grit wet sandpaper, masked off the bezel and the rest of the case and went to work sanding. After about 5 minutes if light sanding the ding had disappeared! SWEET! At this point I was left with a brushed looking spot on the case, so I busted out my mini buffing wheel and some jewelers rouge, buffed the top right corner (around 2:00) on the case until is was shiny again, and then used scotch-brite to add the "brushed" look to the case side, and viola, back like new. Here is the outlined procedure (sorry, no pics): 1. Mask off the non-injured areas of the watch 2. Wet sand using 1,000 grit wet sandpaper 3. Remove masking to allow for buffing of newly repaired area 4. Polish area with Jewlers rouge and buffing wheel or dremmel 5. Remove the rest of the masking, and "brush" the side of case with scotch-brite 6. Clean Watch 7. Breath Large Sigh of Relief 8. Enjoy freshly repaired watch

Not to take this topic in a different direction, but I have to disagree with Wombat...being one of those who has sunk a bunch of money into making a Franken, I am not trying to fool anybody into believing it is a Gen anymore than without making it a Franken....I too always tell everybody that my watches are fake. There is a certain amount of joy to be found in making a watch even better than how it came from the factory. And as a plus, they look waaaay better when you're done
