Nice red. The tritium hands to the 1570 should be a bit easier to find then the Tudor ones. Is this project going to cost more than buying a straight gen? Or did you still save some money by putting it all together?
How are you going to put a plastic crystal on a 79190? The construction is too different i believe. The 79190 was the transition to the modern style press in crystal. I don't think there is a frugal retaining ring like on the plastic guys.
Whew! Glad we were able to change you mind on that. I don't care about the lume as much - The tritium may or may not have been dead - I thought it was dead on my 79090 until I woke up in the middle of the night and found it glowing. It just glows really dimly and you can't tell until after your eyes have FULLY adjusted...
DON'T DO IT! The 79190 is a beautiful watch! It's not a big deal to change the hands or insert - but don't solder in spring bars - that's irreversible! If you're wanting a milsub you're still going to be wrong with this model with the Sapphire crystal - buy a Rep and build what you want - but don't tear into a full boxed and paper'd 79190. If you don't want it - sell it - but don't "wreck it".
At first I didn't care - I had a 10K Daytona Rep when I was 18. But soon as I found out how much it was worth, I thought, crap - there's no way I could afford this - so I got rid of it and bought a Rolex DayDate rep...
I just checked on eBay, found your username, checked for items for sale and came up with 0 items....and yes I am capable of using eBay
EDIT: Just saw that panerai153 posted the same thing...
Haha me too. I bought a Gen. Tudor a couple of months ago, and had it shipped to me Express mail from Northern to Southern California. The postman brought it to me and said there was something for 80 Cents due. So I went to my office and found 80 pennies to give to him The postoffice in the US is going broke because they are morons. Having the postman idle his truck in front of my office and the additional paperwork that had to be generated costs waaay more than the 80 cents he had to collect for missing postage. The missing postage was something like 1.7% of the total cost of the package...
I've had Mahi Mahi like that in Hawaii. We were on a Snorkeling Trip, and the crew went fishing while we were underwater, and they caught a big Mahi Mahi - BBQ'd right on deck and make Tacos for everybody...that's was good fish!
Congrats! Nice build! Nothing beats the Gen Insides (Movement, Dial, Hands)! Don't worry about the Case and Bracelet being a year apart. My Tudor 79090 Case and Bracelet are the same way. '93 Case and '94 Bracelet. Totally normal! Congrats and enjoy your watch!
