  1. it just looks like a bad batch of dials, either the plate was wrong or the part where they doctor blade the ink Because if you just look at the coronet, there seems to be what appears to be blobs of ink left over.
  2. wm9 v2
  3. Here's what I'm getting. 1) you posted a help thread 2) people offer to buy it off you 3) you refused b/c you think it's junk and gave it for free 4) and they complained 0.o?? ????
  4. nice franken ubi. I see that you used a champagne datewheel on a stainless steel datejust case (since it has lug holes? Maybe you can switch it up to a white datewheel hmmm.
  5. doesn't look gen. too tall and seems machined
  6. I'm planning to modify a Puretime 1665. I think MBW is too expensive for me. It's at least $400. PT case is good nuff, it's too big, meaning I can shave off just about everything to the correct dimensions =D
  7. That crown looks genuine since the coronet looks good, the pictures are blurry though so I guess he never learns. my crown and tube that I got from that auction is genuine for sure (self procalaimed wis and I have another genuine 702 crown to compare it with). It has crimped edges (a sure sign for authenticity) for the 702 crown and the tube fits perfectly. Sadly one of the gaskets broke when I was fiddling with it sighh. Thanks for the T-39 crystal: Btw, I think you forgot a dial in the box for some reason. Just kidding. It's just a mock up of what I'm going to make
  8. looks amazing
  9. http://www.timeshops.net/product.php?id_product=6415 looks like the promotion is over. It went up to $48 haha
  10. go with noobmariner...a dealer in RWI sells them for $40 in asian movement. Don't know if I'm allowed to post the link. but watever.
  11. a tudor sub...hehehe. It seems that you're leaning towards the Tudor Heritage to begin with. And you reasoned that the datejust looks more subtle but is attracting attention, which is contradictory to itself. Rolex DJ is a common watch no? I've seen them in the wild more so than other watches.
  12. ROFL! I got called out on my wm9 sub too. It was by my TA who wore a gen Tag Heuer GMT Carrera. He looked at my wrist and said, "what watch is that?" I said, "a Rolex, but it's fake" =D So I let him take a look at it and he responded, "doesn't it supposed to have a display case back?" And I said, "no no no, it's supposed to have a sticker on the back"/ He was like @_@ " a sticker?" lol
  13. nice documentary. A real eye opener. Isn't there a second part to it? the experiment that was conducted about choosing the right watch: full gold sub vs daytona was completely biased. The experimenter, the "guru", completely influenced other people's decision to go for the full gold sub. more documentaries: (a short one)
  14. there's usually enough WIS that mislabelled ebay items are caught very easily. But not this time =D. The pics were blurry except the ones that show it's a 702 and it's a gen since it's crimped.
  15. the big reveal is coming *drumroll*
  16. and that's the wrong period crown for a vintage. not to brag or anything. But if you're a WIS, you can snipe things like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=180642601297&si=ycNPdAoTbc%252FguG8SNZJGImeb2Bo%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT I won a genuine 702 crown and tube for 20 bucks =D
  17. yea wow...I'd never spend that much on a franken either. At least with gen, you can resell it if you get bored with it.
  18. I would think it's easy. Physics is easy and there's tons of jobless or fresh graduated engineers out there with that can figure it out using CAD.
  19. what do you mean by better? more accurate looking or reliable movement? because the lemania movement is more reliable. Also, it looks more subdial placement wise. however, it is bi-compax. The A7750 isn't that bad either. Although you do have to remove the automatic winding components and the subdials are more spaced out.
  20. a shot at high end swiss watches? never!!! The finishing and polishing that defines the high end swiss market. A tourbillon complication is actually an easy one to execute. But making a beautiful looking tourbillon is the hardest thing you can possibly do. The physics and technicalities of making a watch is actually not that hard to learn. I mean, classical physics was practically done by the 1800s. High end Watchmaking is where art and skills come to play and harmoniously combine. I'd rather save up my money and get a vintage patek. This is the legendary ref. 96 worth about $4-10k depending on condition =D
  21. maybe they're trying to copy Philip Dufour's Duality watch. http://www.network54.com/Forum/125316/thread/1019602360/Ron+DeCorte+on+Dufour%27s+Duality
  22. Watch Idiot Savant =P people who knows a lot about watches and nothing else
  23. why does it still look cheap? :bangin:
  24. ^ agree. No formal letter would ever go " something for you...something for my crews"
  25. meh... you always get the chauvinistic narcissistic members in gen forums. It's expected.
